Parco Dei Principi Hotel

This hotel was our first stop in Italy for our 2 week honeymoon. When we arrived to the hotel we were initally very pleased with the gardens as we drove in and the reception area and staff. We then were happily told that we had been upgraded to a "seaview" room. We were shown up to our room and we both looked at each other in dismay. I recently returned from touring Italy and Switzerland for two weeks with my husband and two teenage daughters. Turning into the driveway of the Parco Dei Principi was like going into another world. Because of other reviews, I had called the hotel previously to make sure we were in the main residence. I had spoken to Annalisa who was very kind and helpful. This does not deserve its 5 star status - it's a bit crusty and reminded me of a 1950s swimming pool - yes the whole hotel! The rooms are not up to scratch, the TV and in-room facilities are bad. The service is good and the view from the rooms is nice but that's about it, oh yes and it's in quite a nice location, away from the town centre but close enough to walk. This place is overpriced and is not a "hip" hotel at all (as suggested in the Hip Hotels Italy book). The staff are really nice and friendly on the plus side.

Have just returened from a 7 day stay at the Parco dei Principi. I loved the architecture of the hotel- which was stunning. The gardens are beautiful. The hotel its-self can be a bit noisy inside at night - so light sleepers beware! We were half-board, and ate in the hotel resturant at night. By the third night the very limited menu for those who had prepaid for dinner was wearing thin and was the only time in italy that I found myself finding the food unappealing and monotonous. Thanks to previous reviews, I refused to let the hotel give us a room in the Residenza and they tried quite hard despite the fact that my booking had specified that I would not accept a transfer! My advice is to specify when booking that you want the main hotel and stand firm - it's worth it. A lovely hotel with beautiful gardens and the staff were charming. We had a wonderful week and would definitely return.

Very happy indeed with a ten-day stay in August at the Parco dei Principi. Sorrento itself is recommended for a relaxing, romantic summer holiday, with much to do and see (Pompeii, Vesuvius, Capri etc) within accessible range by boat or train. The hotel is set in a fabulous botanic gardens; the views out to sea and of Vesuvius are wonderful; and it has an above-average outdoor swimming pool. Everything about the hotel was terrible but the views. We were treated terribly by every member of the staff and beware of the second hotel they ship people to when they "overbook". We were clearly bumped for a wedding and were treated terribly for trying to use the main hotel's services. Our honeymoon turned into a nightmare, thankfully we were only there for 4 days. It could not have ended quick enough!

The only positive comments I have are the external views from the hotel were lovely and gardens well maintained. The hotel boasts a 5* rating. I have stayed in nicer 2* hotels. The rooms are basic to say the least and furniture cheap and uncomforable. We just returned from a 4-night stay (May 27-30) at the Parco dei Principi and absolutely loved it. The staff was friendly and accomodating, the gardens were beautiful and the view from our balcony was spectacular...looking right out over the bay of Naples, at Mt. Vesuvius across the water. a great place for a lemoncello nightcap! I just returned from spending 5 days at the Parco dei Principi...the occasion was our daughters wedding. We had family and friends with us from the states (over 30). Everyone loved this place ... the views are spectacular; the gardens amazing; the rooms are clean, comfortable, and have everything you might need! The staff is friendly and helpful. I think they went out of their way to help us with every detail of this wedding. In a word our time here was "magical" . Over 30 guests, and not one unhappy !! We all agreed that 5 days... more
