" just got back after a wek away at... "

just got back after a wek away at said hotel, i thought for the money it was great. Entertainment was pretty boring though but we made the most of the bar and then went out to FRANKIES just up the road (great bar, great atmosphere) rooms in hotel were clean but compact, kids playing "knock down ginger" at stupid o'clock in the morning but hey!! we went out everyday and explored the island and all of it's little coves. all in all i got what i expected from this hotel and was generally pleased and would go back. The entertainment manager DID like the sound of his own voice and made a rubbish elvis (we nick named him MEME) but reps did their best and were good with the kids.

" Stayed in this hotel in September... "

Stayed in this hotel in September this year. Having read the mixed reviews I was a bit worried.

Accommodation: The room was cleaned every day. The beds were very small and very uncomfortable but we got used to it after a few nights. We had paid for a balcony room (all those moaning about not having a balcony should have paid the extra £16!) and were given one overlooking the front of the hotel. It wasn't the best view but there wasn't much noise which was good.

Food: The food wasn't the worst I've tasted in an all inclusive hotel. When you book into a 3* All inclusive, you shouldn't expect 5* food. Yes it was repetitive and yes several people were ill, but these were the people eating to excess and eating the more dodgy looking food!!! I stuck to soup and salads with toast for breakfast and was fine. We chose to eat out quite a lot though as we like to get out and not just stay in the hotel.

Staff: The reception staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The majority of the bar staff were friendly. Yes there was the one miserable one that everyone seems to have identified but so what?! She wasn't rude, just miserable! Although she did shock me by saying more than 2 words to me on one occassion!!!!

Overall I would say the hotel was cleaned to a good standard; the staff were friendly; and the location okay (as long as you don' mind the 15 minute walk to the bars/restaurants and shops.) I personally wouldn't go back but think for what it cost, it was okay.

" Thankyou to the lady who put on here... "

Thankyou to the lady who put on here about the complaints and just how stupid some people are it makes me sad to be British! Can I just say I have in this hotel some points made are valid - The bar maid yes miserable but hey with you complainers what do you expect! The sickness is a bug on the Island but whatever the Rep advised IE SEE A DOCTOR, people ignored and she even advised the guests who were bad what food to eat and arranged these to be served in the restaurant......they still went in eating chips and desserts! What do you expect!!! Try claiming when you get back cause you won't get a penny...........Why should you when most guests won't seek treatment. Also Jelly fish......wow it's the sea there is fish there! And as stated before check what you book and maybe if you look at the brochure you will see it says upon supplement you get a balcony! The so called "stables" is where I stayed. I loved it! Nice and quiet away from the hotel and had a feel of a holiday camp....great fun! The Entertainment I found boring and liked the sound of his own voice, very arrogant at times but hey I went out....I like to see Island whats the point staying in a hotel and seeing nowhere...why not stay in UK! I do not normally write on these sites but after reading the fantastic review from the lady explaining the same points as me I just had too!!! If you want perfection get a 4 star or 5 star! They work hard and Kids reps do a fantastic job. I would also like to point out the Rep was always around and helped us with any issues. She didn't forget us and didn't hard sell......it's nice to see honest people still exist and she had a tough time with the complainers!!! One family said there daughter was in hospital with food poisoning and told everyone in the hotel, but later found out she had gastro......no apologies to the hotel or poor rep who had to deal with the aftermath........THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!! Anyway congrats to the team I had a great time and will be returning with first choice next year, just had to say my bit. xx

" We have just got back from our... "

We have just got back from our holiday, having been there 3 years ago we wernt disapointed.

the room was cleaned every day. The weather wasn't the best while we were there but unlike last time we went, there was a entertainment team which made all the difference who worked hard to help you enjoy yourself even tho it was raining.

the food was as expected like last time ok but having been to other hotels now the choice is a bit limited but it was still nice.

there was still a sickness bug going round the hotel while we were there but luckily we were all ok.

the little cove beach which is next to the hotel is still as lovely as i remember, and altho it does get jelly fish, while we were down there we did not see any altho we wern't down there much due to the weather.

I would recomend this hotel for people with young familys as with the kids club and the beach close there is always something for them to do.

" We have just arrived back from this... "

We have just arrived back from this hotel and I would just like to ask, why do people moan and complain about it so much? First things first, you’re on holiday... so don’t expect people to be quiet, they are having a good time and so should you be instead of complaining about everything! Secondly... I would like to point out that incase you forgot... ur not in England any more!!!! So expect the food to be, and taste a little different then home it’s a different country! And the last thing..... Your holiday is what you make it..... If you complain about everything.... then you have ruined your own holiday... have it your way!!!

The hotel was clean and tidy... a little paintwork needed but then we chose to go at the end of the season. I have never seen the cleaner cleaning so thoroughly!!! Washing the balcony windows every day?!?!?! Madness.... but good.

If you read the information they give you then they are trying to be a little greener. It does state that if you want your towels changed then you do need to put them in the correct place on the floor. They are trying to save the world as well!!! be realistic.....they also state that you should not waste food and drink... this is good, i did see people pileing up their plates but you should just remember that you can go up and get some more again.... there is plenty to go round! Many people have complained about the food... like I said before be realistic they are trying their best to give us British food in a different country so expect it to be a little different! Plenty of choice, and ALWAYS hot! They were bringing new trays out before the old one was even finished....!

We had booked a room for 2 people but found ourselves in a room for 4 people with a sea view so we had enough space and the bathroom was really good with a really hot shower and with a bonus bath that you don’t normally get!

Just to point out that the people who have said that there wasn’t even anywhere for them to dry their swimming clothes because they didn’t have a balcony....... read what you booked!!!!! You pay for a balcony so..... If you don’t pay.... I would have probably said that maybe you wont get on if you didn’t pay for one?!?!?!.....

We did also witness someone at reception complaining about some complaining.... come on guys!!! Your just wasting time!

Holiday was great, food was great a little repetitive but good, beach was close and good, entertainment was good even though we always gave up half way through every quiz because we were rubbish! I would advise people who are staying here to just take a small walk to cala forcat....great for kids in the day and evening it has shops and bars, Water Park and kids play areas.

Don’t expect luxury... u didn’t pay the price of luxury... great value for money :D

" food: wasnt great but it was ok, the... "

food: wasnt great but it was ok, the selection felt the same after being there only a week and most pf the food was cold.

entertainment: they tried there hardest but to be completely honest for a young family it w3asnt great, the kids club ill give 10/10 for effort and kept my kid happy.

warning... there wasnt one person i spoke to who didnt have the runs, we thought it might be the ice in the drinks as it was made from there water, or it was the food as some of it was cold and if left unchanged flies went on it... (but in a hot country u cant expect a few flies they did do there ebst to get rid of them as there wasn't many)

there was the manager there who bossed around all the staff by shouting, and it was over the whole room, also he would watch you like a hawk untill you finished eating

alot could be improved in this hotel

" Recently returned from this hotel,... "

Recently returned from this hotel, where I stayed for a week with my 5 year old son, having read some of the other reviews on this site I have to confess I was rather concerned especially when we were shown to one of the rooms in the annexe, however I have to disagree with some of the comments made, yes the room wasn't the biggest and it was fairly basic, but it was comfortable, and clean(maid service daily) and unlike someone who sent a review in recently we did have a phone, and TV which received BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, CBeebies and if I remember correctly Channel 4. My main complaint would be the noise from the beach bar although have to say most nights this finished at around 11.30pm.

The hotel itself is very clean, the food of a good standard with a good selection; generally 2 meat dishes, a fish dish, vegetarian option and either a pasta or rice based dish on offer for lunch and evening meal, snacks available at other times and a childrens menu early evening.

The staff were all friendly and welcoming, the entertainments team were excellent especially Adam who kept everyone entertained with his antics. Travelling alone with a young child the Kids Club was a god send, my son thoroughly enjoyed the activities and the club itself was extremely well organised, I felt happy that my son was well cared for giving me some time to myself to relax.

My only other gripe was the inadequate number of sun loungers, one morning I went out at 09.05 am and there was only 1 lounger left, there were a few people sitting on loungers but the remaining ones were all occupied by towels, this is despite the fact that hotel info states any towels left on loungers before 9am would be removed, all I can say is there must have been a mad dash at 9am ( Bit like the Next sale!!!!!!!!!!!) We ended up sitting on towels on the grass area where several loungers remained occupied by their towels for the entire morning and much of the afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!! However on about our 3rd day there seemed to be a delivery of new loungers so hopefully this situation has improved.

The resort itself is pretty quiet, only a few shops and bars, the beach which is situated a short distance from the hotel is very pleasant but small.

Generally we enjoyed our holiday here, as a woman travelling alone with a young child I felt safe in this resort, with hindsight I should have booked a room with a balcony, and I'm glad I took the advice of another reviewer and packed my ear plugs!!!!!!!!!!!!

" Put into one of the six stables... "

Put into one of the six stables smelled of cats pee. No natural light unless you wanted to open the windows allowing everyone to look into your room. Room no bigger than my back garden shed, shower took forever to put out hot water. Told it was a three star but have travelled quite a bit and would rate it as a 1 star. Someone needs to review the star ratings in these rooms. Beds small and uncomfortable, could not stay in those rooms and actually call it a holiday more like your worst nightmare. Noise from sister hotel horrendous. Please make sure you upgrade your room if you book this hotel with First Choice it only costs a couple of quid more but well spent. Eventually after a lot of phone calls and being forced to stay in the shed for one night we moved to Binnimar which was more central but had to pay 108 euros for the priviledge. Rep helpful but as it was a holiday in Spain everything had come to standstill. Felt like we were lucky to get a shift to another hotel. Cannot fault Binnimar it was definetely in a different class. Food excellent and no comparison could be made with our original hotel.

" If I could rate it 0/10 then I would.... "

If I could rate it 0/10 then I would. My first time in Menorca and most definatley my last. The Hotel was like an overcrowded english prison, full of people who would rather be at home than there. We booked to stay for two weeks but insisted on a move after only four days. During the four days we were subjected to nightly queue's lasting up to fifteen minutes at the bar, teenage ASB consisting of fights, drinking, foul language and general bad behaviour and most disturbing of all fighting in the corridors outside the rooms. On two occasions whilst we were there the police had to be called to deal with a spate of thefts and fighting, Oh and I was followed every day to the resturant by a old man with a cough but I cant really blame the hotel for that.
The reps were great and they took on board everything we said and due to the fact that we had our two year old grand-daughter with us moved us to Cala Galdana. Fantastic.

" Me, my partner and our 4 year old... "

Me, my partner and our 4 year old daughter returned last week fom a weeks holiday at this hotel, we all had a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Kids club was fantastic, the entertainment during the day and at night was enjoyable, Adam out did the two girls by far he was always making jokes and kept everybody in the holiday spirit.

The food and the amount of it was unbeliveable, you where spoilt for choice!!!
You never had to wait for more than a coulpe of minutes to get your meals or drinks, The local beer is San Miguel, the cocktails aren't really up to much but there is plenty of other options. The lights are turned of at midnight on the dot but you are allowed to sit in the reception area after this and finish your drinks.

The pool area was always very clean and there is a life guard on duty every day, you where only allowed to use inflatables for 1h 30 min as the pool is quite small. There never seemed to be a shortage of sunbeds as there was grassed areas as well as the poolside.

The room was lovely and clean the maid changed the towels and made the beds up every day, the t.v had BBC1, 2 and Cebeebies, we had a lovely see view from our balcony and some of the rooms on the second floor had a great big terrace.

All the staff where friendly and polite except one!!! One of the female bar staff hardly ever smiled and she really came across as misrable and she did put a bit of a downer on going to the bar!!!

Overall it was great value for money and I'm sure we will be staying at this hotel again, it really is a great choice for families with children of all ages.

" This was our first time in... "

This was our first time in menorca, and I don't think we will be coming back, I had read a lot of bad things about this hotel but thought that it was people being fussy and picky. When we arrived we went with the receptionist to these 6 little rooms, i called then the stables!!!basic isnt the word, there was no phone,no hair dryer, and if you wanted a shower in the evening you had to wait between 20-30 mins for the water to get hot,we arrived on the friday and for 3 nights we had no sleep the coulpe next door put the t.v on and what with the laughter and talking we didn't stand a chance, when we saw the rep the next day she said you should have called reception, we said what with no phone!!!!!!!, i asked for a complaints form but she never did get it for us to busy i got told, they wouldn't move us and all she said was well they are going home on Monday, so much for the reps helping you, we had nowhere to hang our wet cloths as we didn't have a balcony, where our stables were was the main walk way through, you couldn't even put a chair out there, and you wouldn't want to as you looked out onto rubbish-not nice. The food we found was ok breakfast was not that good but dinner and evening meals were ok but repetitious,we found most of the staff friendly, at 12 all the outside lights were turned of and you had to walk back to your room in the dark, that i thought was disgusting!!! would I go back NO NO!!!!!!!!! I just hope nobody gets a4

" We have just returned from a week in... "

We have just returned from a week in Cala Blanes, my husband, I and our 20yr old son. In one world FANTASTIC. The weather was good, the beach was lovely although a little small but clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The entertainment team were great and certainly worked hard. Thanks to Adam Claire and Jo. They cetainly entertained us. There was also a couple of shows in the evenings that were extremely good. The food was plentiful and something there for any one. Shame you couldnt take snacks out of the restaurant though. One evening we walked to the town and had a lovely steak meal in The Lancora, try it!!! Also a little cafe up the road called Castaways done a lovely english fry up and were very friendly. The hotel was very clean in fact couldnt fault the cleaniness at all. While we tended to laze on the beach during the day, my son joined in all of the games provided and met many friends and had a great time too. The bar shut at 12, but if you wanted to carry on the town only a 10 min walk stayed open till 3 or there was a bar on the beach. Would really recommend and would certainly go back. Well worth the money.

" We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks... "

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks with our 2 children aged 5 and 3. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday, despite the weather not being too good. The kids went to the kids club nearly every day and they really enjoyed it. The kids club staff were excellent with the kids.

We did get a little bored on the cloudy/rainy days as there was not much to do in Cala N Blanes resort except walk 10 mins down to the resturants and shops. As with any all inclusive hotel the food got really repetitive by the 2nd week but we expected it to be like that. Overall we said that it was a lovely, clean hotel and that we would stay there again, but maybe for 1 week instead of 2.
