Lovely place
from lorri84
I have just returned from 2 weeks in salou. After reading some reviews I was a little worried about going to this hotel, like many others, I am sure!! However, after spending the two weeks there i loved it. The selection of food was absolutely amazing. The hotel caters for everyone, even the picky eaters like me! The staff were friendly and the rooms cleaned every day. Port ventura is only ten minutes by car and shops and the beach are within walking distance. The only reservations i had is that this hotel had very few english speaking guests and the majority of the guests were families. Even the entertaiment, every night, was geared towards children. however, their was alot of english speaking bars and restaurants nearby. I wouldnt recommend it for couples, but despite this i had a great time.

just returned from belvedere hotel in salou, excellent hotel, best we've stayed in , in salou and we've been five times. rooms were clean and bright excellent daily maid service bathrooms perfectly clean and presented towels changed every day, food we felt was excellent plenty of choice for family of three with differing tastes, seemed to be plenty of entertainment on offer although we didn't paticipate as we mainly go for the theme park and water parks. close to theme park pleasant 10 minute walk also 10 mins to shops and beach so fairly central. entertainment outdoors and choice of two otherareas to sit quietly if you prefer. several pool tables, airhockey, mini golf. main downside towels bagging loungers from very early in the morning around the pool. would really recommend this hotel to anyone( I was nervous about going to this hotel as several negative reviews on this site, i have to say i feel totally misleading, )
Not terrible but not fantastic...

My husband, myself and 2 year old daughter stayed here July 2007 for one week. Overall not bad for a three star but we did have a few problems. There are not NEARLY enough parasols beside the pool - approx. 7 for a 300 bedroom hotel??!! We had to set our alarm at 6am to get sunbeds with a parasol as our daughter is very blonde and has very fair skin. Not something you should have to battle over we thought. The other gripe we had was with the size of the bedroom - we got a corner room which was supposed to sleep 4. Not big enough for 2 adults let alone a toddler and all the accessories they need like buggy etc. We requested another room but there were none available. Now the good points! The food is lovely and lots of it. They catered for every taste at mealtimes from fish dishes to plain old pizza and chips. The room was immaculately clean and towels are changed every day if you need them. Perhaps the best thing about the Belvedere is the location - about 10 minutes walk from the main shopping street and Port Aventura so still plenty to do but lovely and quiet at night. Would we return to Salou? Yes, but not to the Belvedere.
Lovely hotel....But

Hello me and my family has just got back wed27th june...salou is a lovely place it was so easy to get out and about on the bus to other places Barcelona,Tarragona etc...the hotel is in a great location to the beach,shops/bars & port aventura was only 5min walk away.. The hotel is very clean the food was great and plenty of it the staff were friendly ( all spanish). The pool clean & plenty of sunloungers but not many parasols (6) so you had to get up early to bag one before the other guest,s did which they did everyday the same spanish people that is one of the downside to this hotel the spanish OAP they were down right rude they would not think twice to barge you out of the way to get what they wanted and there were loads of them about 3/4 of the hotel the entertainment was catered around them and them only all in spanish so thank god for the nightlife outside of the hotel and near to the end of our stay the spanish summer holidays started (4 schools) load of kids turned up to stay....We will be going back to salou because it is a beautiful place but not staying in the Belvedere hotel........
Good Hotel, rude spanish guests
from happybrit
Like other guests, I also nearly cancelled my reservation after reading some reviews. However, my partner and I found most of the criticisms to be unfounded. The Hotels location is ideal for getting to the beach, shops, bars and Port Aventura. It was clean and the rooms were adequate, the staff were friendly and in some cases humourous. The selection of food was fantastic and I am a fussy eater! Now for the downside!!! The hotel is predominately occupied by the Spanish (most of whom where in their latter years!) They were extremely rude, selfish and ignorant!!!! They barge you out of the way in the dining room, try to get into the lift before you've got out, or jump in front of you! They never smile, even when smiled at and they are very loud! Every british guest that we spoke to had the same experiance and agreed that we were not welcome at what they considered to be their hotel. As the guests were mainly elderly spanish, the entertainment was only geared to them so don't rely on the hotel to entertain you come the evening!! Thankfully we didn't give them the satisfaction of ruining our stay but the fact that i (a passive person) could have slapped several older spanish women in just one week would put me off staying their again! This hotel is not for the short fused!!!!!!
Loved it, Loved It!!!!!

After I made our reservation, I then decided to read the reviews on the hotel. I nearly cancelled and changed hotel, but a good thing I did not! Where do I start, the staff were excellent, always polite, smiling, cheerful and very helpful. The food was great, my advice is be prepared for a long queue to get your Pizza and grilled meat. Our sheets were changed daily, also the room was cleaned daily. Being our 1st all inclusive holiday, our 2 year old son LOVED it, and so did we. I'll definitely go back, and recommend others to stay there. Go there and EXPERIENCE it yourself!!!!! topsy75
Fab hotel

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks from 24/8/06 onwards. Having read some very concerning reports prior to our departure we tried to change our hotel. Fortunately this was not possible as we have to say that we had a fantastic holiday. The rooms were of average size and were kept execptionally clean by the hard working maids. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed if left on the bathroom floor. The food was very good with a varitey of meats salads pizza's fish and goodness knows what everyday. It is adviseable that if you have children to get down for the evening meal early as the buffet does only run for approx 1 hour however we always managed to find something to their liking in the main buffet. Drinks are chargeable at the evening meal so be warned approx 1.50 euro for water. The dining staff are efficient and warm to you if you just attempt a little spanish no matter how good or bad you are at it.! The entertainment was very good with a different act each night although there was some repetition over two weeks (only to be expected). The childrens mini disco was good with Mark being a real star encourageing the children all the time. He has a great rapport with children. Yes the songs were repeated nightly but even i looked forward to listening and trying to learn the actions to the little spanish song. My daughter of 10 and son of 8 never once mentioned that the same songs were played nightly and just enjoyed taking part. During the day the activities included water polo, shooting ,darts and water areobics. Sometimes they even came round distributating free fruit (much needed on a hot day by the pool) Generally the hotel set high standards e.g you need to be covered up when going through reception, footwear to be worn inside hotel, noise to be kept to a minimum in the hotel after 11.30. All of these are in place to ensure that all customers enjoy their holiday and surely you would only expect this standard in a quality hotel. The swimming pool has a lifeguard on duty during the day. Unfortunately no inflateables are allowed in the main pool nor are you allowed to wear sunglasses in the pool (we were advised that this was for the safety of all as if the glasses got broken in the pool you can imagine the implications of glass on the floor. A bit extreme i admit but i suppose they are subject to risk assessments!) Portaventura is fantastic and is well worth paying for a 3 or 7 day pass. Night time the queues are less and the fireworks and laser displays brilliant. Also went to Aquapolis which is great but didn't realise if you go to Mc Donalds in Salou and get a happy meal you get free entry for a child with a paying adult. Went to Nou Camp which was ok and also Barcelona zoo but to be honest we have got so much better over here i wouldn't bother. In conclusion we had a fab holiday and was sad to leave. Maybe the hotel has improved since the some of the more negative reports have been written but we just could not wish for much more. One tiny gripe was that they could do with a few more parasols by the poolside by hey if that's all i can gripe about it can't be bad. If you are debating on whether to book just think that people have a tendancy to report more if they 've had a bad experience rather than praise the good one's, it's just human nautre. Good have a fab time!!!!!!!! Have a fab time!!!!!!!
Loved it

We stayed in this hotel from the 24th July for 2 weeks. It was fantastic. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The hotel rooms were clean and tidy, although on the last week the maids did seem to get a little lazy and we had to keep asking for more fresh towels. The staff were all very friendly and we got to know most of them by name, even the ones that didn't speak a lot of english. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful hotel to stay in as they are very strict on noise. Would love to go back, wish i was still there.

I totaly agree with the last review ,i have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Belvedere Hotel and had a great time , .the food was good and plenty of it , the rooms were very clean and the air-conditioning was first class ( very much needed in my case ) . I cannot understand the poor reviews that this hotel has received and can only guess these people could never be happy wherever the go . I would recommend this hotel and its location to anyone .

I just don't understand all the reviews that are on here of the hotel! I'm not being funny but it's in Spain, you can't expect everyone to speak English, you are in their country so you should respect them! Well where to start, I found everyone very polite, our maid spoke some English I admit I did have trouble understanding her sometimes, but you cannot expect everyone to speak English just because you are English yourselves, it's just pompus and arrogant, if you try your best to speak to them in Spainish they will be more than helpful! I personally thought that the food was nice, it was repetitive but there was plenty there (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) you could easily stay there for two weeks and have a different meal each week. When the karaokee was on, it was in English and Spainish, and the children's mini disco before hand did have English songs and Spainish, i.e. music man, hokey kokey etc.... The children enjoyed it and Mark and Anna the entertainment staff spoke fluent English and were really good with the children, and adults! The bar staff were also very polite, I made friends with them all, so if any of you are off out there tell them Laura and Kate says 'hi' hehe! but yeah as I was saying, everyone is polite. The hotel it's self, is walking distance from Port Aventura, an Aqua park, the Beach and Salou City Centre it's self....Also Aquapolis is not that far about 10 euros in a taxi, and it's a big water park where you can also swim with sealions i really do recommend it, me and my friend did it, and we're still excited about it now! There was a lot of Spainish people there and some elderly but there was a lot of 18-30's there aswell, I met a few good people out there! Every morning you can do Aquagym in the pool from 10am, and then in the afternoon Anna takes a dance class in the bar area which i did join in with, i'm 18 and was the youngest there, all the other ladies were OAPs but they're all polite and go out there was to help you and encourage you to join in! I honestly think that the people who have written bad reviews for this hotel didn't try hard enough to speak Spainish, and expected everyone to speak English, which just wasn't going to happen! I've already been onto the travel agents to book for this hotel next year and really cannot wait! If you want to ask me anymore about the hotel, i will give you an honest report, so please email me!
I have just returned from Salou after going there with my daughter and some friends.Salou itself is lovely, beautiful beach and close to Portaventura and water park. The Hotel experience on the whole was negative ,Food terrible-as a vegetarian i didn't expect wonderment but... more
