Nikos Studios

Can't believe some people did not like this place - The pool is very deep but very clean - food great - Nikos and his family were very helpful and friendly - lots of late nights round the bar!
The one downside was the size and cleanliness of the room but hey what do you expect was classed as budget.
Typical Greek self catering from my experience - you get what you pay for - but you also make your own fun - We've booked again for this August along with 3 other couples we met. Hope this year is as good as last, can't wait to get there.

3rd time in Alykes and 1st time at Nikos.
Lovely setting, 10-15 mins walk from town & beach. Apartments are on the small and basic side but hey this is Greece after all. Ours was not really very clean and nor were some of the others when we got chatting to people.
Beware - the pool is VERY deep if you have kids and also slippery around the edge. 1.4m at the shallow end and (I think) 2.8m at the deep. That said my 6 and 2 year old loved it!!
Nikos is friendly enough, food is good and cheap and something for most tastes. The Greek night is good as long as you’re not a veggie (potatoes and salad only) and all for 10euro.
I would recommend these apartments but with a word of caution. They are not 5 star nor even 3 for that matter. If that is the type of holiday you want then book it tomorrow. If you want something a bit more classy then don't. We used it as a base and traveled round the Island eating out most nights and really only using it as somewhere to sleep or to use the pool in the afternoons.
All in all a good budget holiday in average accommodation on a great Island.

The rooms are clean and tidy but if you have booked with Manos as we did beware that there is a separate bock of apartments - with no pool 200 meters down the road (which we ended up in ) Despite the fact we had a young family (my son is 2 and a half we were put on the 3rd floor and had to climb about 40 steps every time we went to our room.
Rep was useless and I'm currently waiting on a reply to my letter of complaint. Also in a very far out location at the very edge of the resort.

I was pleased with the Nikos Apartments. When I got there, I waited only a few minutes to be shown to my room, and was given a drink compliments of the owner. There was always someone around for me to ask a question should I need to right up until late, and the food was lovely, home made food at a reasonable price. The staff were only too ready to help if I needed it and accommodating. Everything was clean and tidy, I loved my room!
Although this was probably not the Hilton, it certainly had character. October was peaceful yet warm - and although the pool was too cold to swim, it was nice to see outside. A family-run Studio, it was peaceful and "Greek".
The beaches were a short walk (5 min) and very pleasant. I nice little getaway.

This was the worst place I have ever been to , we love Zante and return every year and have never had a problem in other hotels or studios but the Nikos studios where disgusting.
When we arrived the room had not been cleaned at all there was still food in the fridge from the last guests and all there soap and dirty towels where still in the shower, we even had the pleasure of having all there used toilet paper still in the bin by the toilet and it was full to the brim, the bed had broken slats in it so I was falling through them in my sleep cutting my leg, by night the pool area was teeming with rats, so God knows what there kitchen was like. We decided to see the rep at our welcome meeting the following day and ask to be moved but the rep was no help at all in fact she was rude and just did not care at al.
We found other accommodation our self but we could only get a few days at a time so we thought that would be better than staying in the Nikos for the whole holiday and if we found that we could not get some nights elsewhere we could go back to our room at the Nikos, this did in fact happen so we went back to our room only to find that they had let the room out to some one else and changed the lock on the door, I was disgusted by this as we had paid for that room for 14 nights so we should be sable to come and go as we please and I had informed them that we did not want to check out in case we needed the room some nights.
All the other people there where complaining too and another couple left to stay somewhere else.
