Relais Santa Chiara Hotel

Just returned from 4 day stay at the Santa Chiara and found it a great little hotel. Situated just 5 minutes from the San Giovanni gate this place is in an ideal spot to explore the town and the tuscan countryside. We paid an upgrade for a superior room with a view ( but smaller balcony) and it was well worth the extra. The Relais Santa Chiara is a small modern 4 star hotel perfectly located about 300 mtrs from the main gate of San Gimignano. I stayed here with my wife for 2 days in April 2007. The building, rooms and facilities are fairly typical of a modern 4 star but this hotel is set apart by its superb location and excellent service. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and both the public rooms and bedrooms are kept spotless. Once again using Trip Advisor to help us choose accomodation paid off. We arrived after a pretty hair raising drive through the hills in a combination of fog and heavy snow to a warm greeting by the receptionist who was clearly expecting us. We were shown to our lovely room which was immaculately clean, quiet and very comfortable. This hotel has no restaraunt for evening meals but the walk into San Gimignano only takes a few minutes and the receptionist provided us with a map and a choice of recommended restaraunts. When we went looking for a place to stay in the Tuscany Valley we were looking for a quiet place with a spectacular view with 1st class service and accommadations. "WOW" were we lucky to find the Relais Santa Chiara - it was everything we were looking for in a first class hotel. The hotel rooms were clean, well kept and afforded us all the accommadations we expected. The service was impeccable !!!!! The staff spoke english and helped us plan for sites in the local area. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! We stayed in three hotels on our ten day trip. And The Relais Santa Chiara was number 1........ We felt like royalty. The staff was able to handle any arrangements we needed and any extras. It was the most amazing service, kind, happy, very helpful......a true pleasure. It is a hidden treasure. The scenery was breathtaking and the hotel's preperty was so well kept!!!!!!!!! Just beautiful. I highly reccommend this hotel for anyone traveling in Italy.

We've come here 3 summers in a row and we absolutely love it! The rooms are good, and the views from the front-facing balconies are magical. The breakfast terrace is really pleasant and the breakfast is very substantial by italian standards. The pool and garden area has slight traffic noise but is extremely pleasant; we've spent many a lazy evening lying back, sipping cocktails. San Gimignano town centre is an easy 10-minute walk away.

My husband and I stayed here with my parents in early May for 9 nights and we all loved this place. Despite me changing my booking twice before we arrived the staff were patient, courteous and very friendly. The receptionist took time to chat to my parents and the breakfast staff were polite and friendly also. Relais Santa Chiara was a delight from the patio with table and chairs outside our room to the magnificient views of the valley. A short walk of 100 meters or so gave a beautiful view of San Gimignano as well. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The complete breakfast , including fresh fruit salad, served in the small eating area was the best that we had in our entire stay in Italy. We stayed in the Relais Santa Chiara for 4 nights of our honeymoon and enjoyed every minute. From the gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside to the beautiful breakfasts which we happily consumed every morning on the tables near the pool, its a lovely hotel in a lovely location, only a short 10 min work from the hub of San Gimignano. Thanks to the mgt for the beautiful bottle of sparkling wine that made out stay even more special Would go back happily anytime!

We stayed for one night only at the Santa Chiara on our way to Pisa Airport (2 hours away). The three staff we met were very helpful and friendly and really tried to help without us having to ask. The porter took our bags from the car to the room - not universal in Italy. On finding out we had to leave at 6:45 in the morning the receptionist asked if we would like breakfast, as normally it isn't served until 7:30.
