Leon Bianco Hotel

We had a fantastic experience with our triple room booking here 3/2006. Prior to our arrival, a staff member emailed me the driving directions (we drove from Rome-- parking in San Gimignano is in one of the local parking lots outside the city gates at 10-15 Euros/24 hrs) and how to get within the city gates to unload our luggage etc. On arrival, the staff was extremely courteous: very helpful, showing us to our room, guiding us in local eating options, and providing a town walking map. My wife and I really enjoyed our too short stay in San G and at the Leon Bianco. The room and furnishings we superb. The semi-deserted town (early November) was a pleasure and the staff was accomodating. This is the place to stay. We're afraid this place will become to popular.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Leon Bianco in San Gimigiano, and loved every minute of it! We fell in love with the town, which was practically deserted in November despite the beautiful weather. Our second floor room (#36) had a window facing the piazza as well as a double door that provided breathtaking views of the countryside. We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon in Italy. We absolutely loved it. We had a fabulous room on the second floor overlooking the main plaza with double height ceilings and ornate carved king bed. Great location for sightseeing (although the town really isn't that big so any hotel in the town would be fine) but also great people watching from the window. We had a great room overlooking the square on the 2nd floor (but could be noisy for some with windows open in the early am). We had reserved a valley view but enjoyed this room, especially with the large windows with two sets of double pane glass. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel. Very friendly, professional, helpful staff. We had a quad-person room, with a partial view. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was large. My wife and daughters were impressed by the bathtub. The breakfast area was terrific. We were so impressed by the hotel and the town of San Gimignano that we wanted to stay there at least another night, but we stayed with our schedule and went on to Rome. We loved this hotel. The staff was very nice! They speak English. They even allowed our dog to stay! This is not normal practice, but she's only a 3 pound dog. We visited during the off-peak season (Feb 2005) so many other hotels were closed for holiday/seasonal break until March. Leon Bianco was 1 of 2 hotels in the historical center that was even open. Most of the shops were open though. The location in Piazza Cisterna is perfect as it is the hub of the village. I highly recommend Leon Bianco, but keep in mind that the room rates change with the seasons.... more

If you are considering traveling to SG, this is a fantastic place to stay. Large rooms, good A/C and a great staff. This is run by a family. It is immediately next to the old cistern in the middle of the piazza. Try to get the room in the corner that faces the piazza and has a doorway facing the west. Unbelievable views in the morning of the Tuscan countryside.

We drove aimlessly around San Gimignano and all of a sudden wound up at the door of the Hotel Leon Bianco. We had no reservations, but had no trouble getting a room for the night of 4 November. The room (80 Euro) was nice and clean and overlooked the piazza. For 100 Euro one could get a better room that included a sofa, but who needs a sofa! The only disadvantage of staying in the city limits of San Gimignano is there is no parking at the hotel and you have to park at a city lot (P3) in this case. The overnight fee was 10 Euro. We stayed 4 nights at the Leon Bianco which is located in the main piazza. Our first two nights were in a standard room at the back of the hotel where we looked over the rooftops to the Tuscan countryside beyond. If you are sensitive to noise you should ask for a room on this side of the hotel. We were very happy with this accommodation but because the hotel had been fully booked for nights 3 & 4 when we originally booked we upgraded to a superior room overlooking the piazza for our last two nights.
