Hi! I just came home to Norway, and was staying at American Hotel for three nights. I think it was a good hotel all in all. The breakfast was ok; eggs, ham and cheese, juice, coffee automat, little dry bread. But ok. I didn't eat dinner there because me and my friend Christina were travelling there with only old people. We got to know some local people who took us to Venice and other places to eat. (Paloma restaurant over the street is great.)
To Venice it is 20 mins by bus and 20-50 mins by boat (depends on the weather..). You buy ticket tour/retour at cigarette stores only, and this ticket is 16 euro. The bus and boat goes from morning (5.10) to night (23.00) several times every hour and it's no problem to travel without guide if you can find someone who will tell you where the bus stop is.
We didn't go on tours with the guides because it was too expensive, and therefore the guides were not so friendly. Both the guides and the hotel managers said they didn't know about the bus times. You can ask someone at the cigarette store or someone at a restaurant, they are more helpful.
The bankomat is one mile away from the hotel, 20 euro to take taxi there and back.
The beach is very long and right next to the hotel. It is perfect for long walks with your sweetheart or a very sweet italian guy... =} It is not allowed to bring any guests to the hotel room, very strict about this, but they will let you make coffee in the middle of the night!
The espresso everywhere must be tried, it has to be the best in the world. The beer in a pub is around 3 euro.
Lido de Jesolo is a ghost-town in the winter because it is only hotels and no one live there. But the streets are nice and clean, and the local police is driving around at night watching out for the tourists. They are nice and have very very nice police cars (Alfa Romeo).
I'd like to go back to American Hotel very soon =}
Hope you will too.

This holiday was booked at the very last minute, and therefore we were rather apprehensive about it!
However, we need not have worried.
On arrival the reception of this family run hotel was well presented and the staff were very friendly! This friendly atmosphere continued throughout the vacation!
The room decor was a little bit tired, but was very clean! The room also was cleaned daily (plus fresh towels daily), the bed linen was changed every 2nd days.
The meals were also of good quality! Breakfast was typically continental, with the evening meal being a choice of 4 starters and 4 main courses, with a selection of desserts. A nice touch was that if you were on an excursion that would result in you missing your evening meal, the staff prepared a delicious packed lunch!
The pool was in excellent condition, as was the pool side facilities.
The hotel's beach is a stones throw from the hotel, so no complaints there!
The cosmos rep was also really helpful and friendly.
All in all, a great time was had! Recommend staying in this hotel...definitely worth the money!

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is located on a quiet street (canal) which is off the Grand Canal. The location is really handy as the hotel is within a walking distance from all major attractions (and walking in Venice is an adventure of its own!) and also is within 5 minutes of walking from a boat (vaporetto) stop. Plenty of little cafes and restaurants around as well as small picturesque local shops.
The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They somehow found out that it was my husband's birthday and sent us a bottle of champagne!
Room service is excellent! Very clean fresh rooms. Nice continental breakfast accompanied by records of Italian singers - it was fabulous!
The only drawback was that the hotel didn't have a bar or a restaurant, though there was a very good restaurant just next door which is worthwhile visiting.

Very good budget hotel, family run. Very clean. Choice of a 3 course meal every evening, and a gala dinner once a week, of very good quality.
Lido De Jesolo was great fun, a good lively centre to base a holiday from, lovely clean beach within walking distance. There is plenty to do in the evening as the road outside the hotel comes alive with bars and shops of every kind, from designer to cheap.
Ideally placed to visit Venice and surrounding areas.
Verona the home of the opera was our favourite as Venice was lovely but a bit overwhelming!
We visited an aqua park within walking distance of the hotel and had a lovely day, ideal for all ages and highly recommended.
Really enjoyable holiday.

just returned from our 4th holiday in the American hotel and as usual we had a most enjoyable holiday, we were welcomed by Mario & Stephano and looked after by the family for 2 weeks, clean towels every day and sheets changed every 2 days, our rooms were cleaned every day by very friendly staff and everyone appriciated our attempt to speak Italian, the dining room was comfortable with room to get to your table, meals were served by Francesca and the ever smiling waiters, there is always a good choice and if for any reason like special diet that you cannot eat any of the 4 starters or 4 main meals which change every day, they will let you choose something else. The resort is great with plenty to do and see, we went with Cosmos to Lake Garda & Verona, but went to Buranno on the local bus and boat with no problems, the rep told everyone how to purchase bus tickets and indicated bus stops, she was very helpful, the beach is always clean and is a stones throw from the hotel with a sun bed, chair & umbrella. The hotel host a Gala dinner every Thursday with drinks and nibbles on the terrace and 5 courses to follow in the dining room where they put out the lights and the chief is clapped in when he brings the roast which is aflame, we will be back!!!!
