Caruso Hotel

Firstly this is a great hotel. We had a junior de luxe suite with a garden terrace and our own sunbeds and outdoor dining table, and similar for our children. The views of the coast from the terraces are fantastic ,probably the finest most beautiful views in the world. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are definitely 5 star as is the service ie beautiful fresh sheets every day and perfectly cleaned rooms which is what you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. My wife and I recently spent a very romantic week at the Caruso. Obviously, some of the other reviewers had a different experience, which I fully respect but should also be addressed. The hotel staff were welcoming, charming and interact without being static and robotic. The hotel rooms pay perfect homage to that bygone art deco period which they've done so well to ressurect. The Caruso is a gorgeous hotel; I won't repeat the numerous accolades printed here previously. The pool, rooms and grounds are all beyond compare. We were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday, and the hotel upgraded us to their most expensive suite, which was a lovely gesture. That suite, #23, was a bit of a disappointment; it had a fabulous terrace, but the rooms themselves were a bit dull, had no real view, and were not in keeping with those shown on the website. You have seen all the great things about Hotel Caruso and some complaints. Ignore the complaints and ignore the people that think this hotel is nor worth the money. This hotel is perfection! My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights in mid June and experience the best service, with the most lovely staff in an incomparable setting. The pool is beyond words. We stayed at the Caruso for three nights during our Honeymoon. The view and the pool are truly extraordinary, but we did run into some issues. The first room they put us in was 401, an attic room that was much too small for the price. They tried to sell it to us as "the most romantic room in the hotel," but we found it so constraining, we could barely unpack. Our experience was great - we booked through American Express and were lucky enough to get upgraded to room 51 - by far, the biggest suite I've ever stayed in. The views of a terraced garden and the sea were stunning. The room smelled a little dank like it needed a de-humidifier (it went away when we opened the window). This hotel is stunning especially the gardens and pool area, and needless to say the views are incredible HOWEVER it is grossly overpriced and for the amount they charge one would expect perfect service. We did not get anything close. The first problem occurred on arrival. We had specifically booked a room with a terrace and full sea view and had the email communication to back this up. We had a confirmed reservation at Hotel Caruso for three nights and even Re-confirmed immediately before we left on our trip. When we arrived at the Hotel, they told us they had a "slight" problem. They had NO room for us (and many others who arrived at the same time). They claim they did not have enough rooms for all their reservations. We were relocated by Hotel Caruso to another hotel in town which was not nearly as nice. Needless to say, we were extremely upset with them. We stayed here for 5 nights. We had room 51. It was very nice with an awesome view of the coast. Spacious and well appointed bathroom. High arched ceilings in our room really made us feel that we were someplace special. Lounging in the room looking out at the Med is quite a tonic. We had to pull ourselves away from the property to do anything! It was just so beautiful. A great place to come and relax and unwind from the pressures of work and family. The food in the restaurant was very good too. All in all, it was worth every penny.

We stayed at the Caruso for 4 nights in late September 2005, as part of a very special holiday to celebrate one of my Wife's "big" birthdays. The hotel certainly didn't disappoint.
