Luna Convento Hotel

One of the most delightful hotels in Italy. The service is top notch. From the front desk, to waiters to the chamber maids – everyone was friendly and helpful. The front desk has maps of the areas and are quick to suggest walking interests. They are most helpful in arranging plans. My wife and i planned to spend a week in hotel luna in the middle of our honeymoon. In between hectic citybreaks in Paris and Rome we planned on having a relaxing week in amalfi, one or two day trips but mainly relaxing by the pool which was the selling point of the hotel when we looked on the website. Imagine our shock when we discovered the pool was not even filled with water when we arrived on 27th April. We stayed at Hotel Luna over the Easter weekend. Our room had a large balcony with a view of the Amalfi harbor that was incredible. Location of hotel is excellent - short walk along the water from harbor and town center. Hotel is on main street to Atrani but we heard no noise from our room which faced the harbor. Morning breakfast is great - large selection of hot and cold food. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and found the food to be reasonably priced and good quality. We had our honeymoon in Italy, but left the best for last! We arrived at Amalfi & stayed at Luna Convento for 3 days. It was the most unforgettable & most romantic place ever. After having the opporunity to travel all over Europe, personally this has to be the most beautiful & breath taking spot on Earth....There is someting mystical & undescriable about this hotel, its view, history, location, & especially the pool guy, he was exceptional!!! We got married in Amalfi in September and had our wedding reception at the Luna Convento as well as staying there. Having read the reviews AFTER we had booked it i felt sick but by this stage it was too late to re book anthing else and we had already parted with thousands of pounds. Everyone was wonderful and made it a really really special day even down to the bar man playing "here comes the bride" on the piano at 2am as we made our way to bed! We couldn't have asked for more. First up, I have to say I found the manager of the hotel, Giovanni, most of the most helpful and professional hoteliers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing (I am the editor of an inflight magazine and a travel writer). We stayed in the Luna Convento in the first week in September on a half board basis. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful. You have to take into account that it is a former convant - so the rooms are very simple, but this is part of the experience. The views from the restaurant and from our balcony were stunning. The pool area is great for relaxing, snorkeling and for diving off rocks. The food was very good, although by the end of the week we got a bit bored of going to the same place. We would really recommend the hotel.

Hotel Luna Convento just has that something special which makes a stay there, an experience to remember. I'm not sure if its the sublime views over the town of Amalfi and rugged coastline, or the history of the hotel, or the outstanding and assured level of service, or the amazing pool located beside the warm Tyherrian sea which makes Hotel Luna an 'experience', rather than just another hotel. We have just spent 10 days in this hotel and had a wonderful time, the room was simple but with wonderful views and we lacked for nothing. The staff consistently made us feel welcome from the house staff to the front desk. We were half board with every intention of eating in Amalfi on a few different nights but in the end we ate at the hotel evey night as the food was superb. We decided to visit Amalfi, staying at the Luna Convento, not only because of some good reviews on tridadvisor but because the hotel had been personally recommended to us by people we know who had stayed earlier in the year. We did note the not-so-good reviews but decided to judge for ourselves. We were not disappointed!
