Bel Air Plantation Hotel

We wanted a sunset beach wedding and Rhona at Bel Air Plantation gave us exactly that! She is an absolute credit to the hotel and after several months of emailing her we finally arrived in Grenada to tie the knot during January 2007. Unfortunately, when we arrived our cottage was sadly lacking in several areas and was in desperate need of an overhaul. The Bel Air has the potential to be a really super place to stay - but some changes need to be made pretty fast to stop it sliding towards being no more than a really well fitted out,and therefore massively overpriced, motel. Rhona is organised and efficient. We arrived late and she couldn't have been more helpful. The following day she organised a jeep rental (more of that later) in under an hour so we could do some exploring (or make your escape for the day.....) Bel Air Plantation is totally first class. I've been to Grenada 8 times and I stay for 2-4 weeks every time. Usually we are on Grand Anse beach or BBC. This time I wanted to try something different and was not at all disappointed with Bel Air. All the other reviews are very much on target so I won't repeat what has already been stated. We arrived in Grenada on Saturday, 6/17 on the American Eagle flight to the island. It was on time, we actually arrived early. Our driver, Donald, was right there waiting for us and whisked us away to Bel Air Plantation Resort. Family and friends of the wedding party stayed at the Bel Air for a week and it was memorable in every aspect. Rhoda, Kathy, Susan and the staff attended to every detail no matter how small. Our villas were just suberb, each with a breathtaking view and every one different pastel colors with gingerbread trim. Maybe we were spoiled after a week of superb service at Spice Island, but the level of courtesy here is pathetic. The food was very good and it is a beautiful location and the grounds are well kept. We thoroughly enjoyed a quiet afternoon at the vanishing edge pool. However, the help in the restaurant/ bar was barely civil. We had a full, expensive dinner with wine and after dinner drinks , but you would have thought we were vagrants from the level of service . My partner and I have just returned from one of the most memorable holidays we have ever had. We spent two weeks at Bel Air Plantation and as the title of my report indicates it was truly a slice of heaven. We arrived tired from a long trip and were pleasantly surprised upon checking in that we were given an upgrade to a larger accommodation than we had booked. We have just returned from our trip to Grenada and the Bel Air Plantation.We had the most beautiful villa with stunning views,peace and quiet,really friendly helpful staff,although they were a little quiet and shy at first !The only thing we would say against it is it would not be terribly suited to younger children and there is quite a steep climb to some of the villas. We can highly recommend this away from it all haven.

If you like a peaceful, relaxed, place to stay with seaviews & very low-key nightlife - this is the place for you. It is slightly off-the tourist track, set in several acres of tropical gardens on a hillside overlooking the bay. You need to remember this is not a beach-side complex with the associated activities - it is a tranquil haven away from the usual tourist hustle & bustle.
