I am a lover of everything is Greek but, thanks to Eleni apartments, I finally discovered something to avoid in Greece. Eleni apts. is a budget solution for a stay in the most beatiful Lesvos' location (Molyvos): for 30 euros per night you can sleep not so far from the Genoan castle and the marvellous fishing harbour of the ancient Mythimna. But these 30 euros, believe me, would be better spent in a camping or buying a sunbed to sleep on the beach. Tha average status of the domatia in Greece could be not particulary noble, but Eleni is much much beyond any expectation. Dirty, ugly, smelly. These three adjectives describe both the bathroom and the room. Sheets have plenty of holes (cigarettes, I suppose), lamps have broken bulbs, toilet has a patina that allows you to imagine how many months have passed since the last serious cleaning. What is more wondering is that, at the same price, you can find a lot of decorous apartments both in Molyvos and in Petra. It's better not to book in advance private domatia in Greece: ask to see the room before confirm your stay. You can find plenty of accomodation also in the high season (except the days around August the 15th). An example? After leaving the disgusting Eleni rooms, in the first week of August, I've found 2 available rooms in Molyvos and 3 in Petra the same day!

Jun 2008, Miss Catherine Atherton

We have just come back from a very last minute holiday to Alykanas in Zakinthos. The weather was amazing and we had a fantastic time.
The apartments we stayed in were basic and the beds were a bit hard and very squeaky but everything was very clean. The owners Nickos and Eleni, although they can't speak a word of English, can not do enough for you, even bringing along afetrnoon snacks as you sat by the pool.
There is a pool side bar which also does snacks and salads and this also has brand new toilets and shower blocks that you might not realise are there.
The pool, although not very big, is very clean and has sun beds round the outside.
The village itself is relatively quiet with no lager louts or large groups. It is mainly couples young and old. The local Greek people are very helpful and friendly in particular at the local bar called Diogenis. In the bar you will find Dimetrios and Anthi (brother and sister) who are absolute gems!!
The beach is a good 20 minute walk away and is lovely. They do regular boat trips from there that are worth going on that take you aroud the Island.
Just on a last note the restraunt called Olympic is absolutely lovely. It is a little pricer than most but it is worth a visit you'll find this in the town near the beach and also a nice bar to try is called the red lemon bar with is at the very end of the row of shops and bars.
Would I go again......... Absolutely!!

Jun 2007, Miss L Harding

All of the studios are on the first floor, apart from one on the ground floor. The studios are quite small and yes the furniture is very dated and basic.
There is a 2 ring cooker and good size fridge. The sheets were changed twice a week and the bins emptied every day. We also got a tea towel which was a bonus.
The floors were swept every day, but they really did need mopping everyday and looked a bit grubby. I'm afraid there is no shower curtain.
There seem to be a lot of cats and dogs around the apartments on the ground floor, which are always begging for food, so if you are not an animal lover then I wouldn't recommend staying on the ground floor.
On our last day we were able to use an apartment free of charge to shower and change in. The owner/manager is called Babish, anything you need and he'll provide it for you, his English is very good.
I would recommend using the rep for trips as Molinos attracts a lot of Dutch, so most excursions are aimed at them. We booked a Wild West trip with the company next to the Sea Horse Hotel to find most of the commentary was in Dutch, so we weren't too impressed.
The Manos trips are around €2 more but worth paying if you want your trip to be in English.
All in all I would highly recommend these studios.

We have just returned from Eleni...

May 2007, Mrs Anne Magee

We have just returned from Eleni Apartments.
We found our 2 bedroom apartment to be clean with a large kitchen, hallway and 2 toilets and showers.Very well kept front garden and bed changed twice in a week with plenty of clean towels, no complaints, yes the furniture is basic but the beds were comfy.
The beach is large stones and not that good in Molyvos but it is a pretty town and a taxi cost 5 euro to Petra which has quite a nice sand beach, the tavernas we visited served good meals at good prices.
We were unlucky with the weather but it happens, we will return because it is a very green island and would love to explore it more.
Manos was our tour operator and I was impressed with the team on Lesvos they worked well as a team and cared about their clients. Maybe Olympic Holidays should adopt the same approach as our experience with them last September in Elounda Crete left a lot to be desired.
All in all a good holiday, shame about the weather.

Feb 2007, Mr D Drummond

This place is a joke, if you want a rough place to stay you found it.
Takes a few minutes walk into the town and you have to be careful, mopeds everywhere and if you walk to the harbour for your meals take a good pair of shoes.
If you think there is a pool well there is - in the town and most people use it.
You try hard to find the beach, we hired car and drove 1 hour everyday to go to a brill beach, must be Levos' best kept secret.
It took us 1hr 50mins to get our bags from the airport, then another 2 hour coach trip to the apartment. When you get the apartment your mouth will drop, I suppose you get what you pay for and believe me, I did not pay for that rubbish.
I would go back again to Eleni only to help them knock the place down, its not the owners fault its income for him, there are a lot better places to go.
