We got a week as a last minute deal (10 days prior to departure) and didn't do much research in advance. Looking at the reviews definitely didn't help and we were very close to go and ask for our money back. When we arrived at the hotel it didn't give the best impression from the outside, but the apartment had air conditioning(extra) and pool view. We decided to give it a chance and I have to say that it was a very nice and relaxing holiday. The manager (Greg) and his family were going out of their way to satisfy all our needs, accommodation, food and drink. It is about 15mins walk to Kalamaki Village, but we rented a car, 3 days for €100. Food is very good at the hotel, but it is also very basic; we only had breakfast and a couple of dinners in there. During the day they serve snacks, sandwiches and anything that you can ask for (no messin'). It is definitely a lot better than most places in Spain, but it's also not perfect. Probably most families with very small children will be hard to please anyway in the best of places, and that's understandable. As a conclusion this place offers: very good food, good (and cheap) drink, quiet, relaxing accommodation, friendliness and an acceptable level of cleanliness.
We recommend it to families, especially to the ones with teenagers!

It was my first sun holiday and I was delighted with the Sirene apartments. They were basic but had all we needed. Very good service and lovely food. There was nothing nicer than lying by the lovely clean pool and going up to the bar for an ice cold drink. We ate there most lunch times and went down to Kalamaki for an evening meal. There is also a great little shop with everything you need at the apartments. The owner and his sons were very friendly and helpful. My girlfriend had being to Zante before and knows that the apartments are basic everywhere and your not going to get 5 star. They were cleaned regulary, what else could you need? The beach is about 20 minutes walk but its a lovely beach. This is definitely a lovely place to stay and I would definitely recommended it to couples and young families. We also went to Laganas 3 nights and the Sirene was just the perfect distance away from Laganas and Argassi. We will be returning this summer again and will more than likely stay here again.
Hope this review helps :)

This hotel is a disgrace. Upon arrival we were shown to our room which was satisfactory, only to be moved a few hours later due to the hotels mistake at check in. We were assured that the new room was the same as our current one but with one less bed. When we moved we discovered this room was small, dark, dingy and FILTHY. We spoke to both the staff and rep to be told nothing could be done. We later spoke with the owner who promised to send up cleaning staff...but not until the next day, meaning we would be forced to sleep and shower in this disgusting room. The next day the cleaners came to our room but made hardly any difference. We still had cobwebs, dirty and sticky work surfaces and tables, a disgusting bathroom and broken doors. As well as this we made clear about how unsafe we felt, being 4 females alone, in a room at the back of the hotel backing onto some old unused yard. Having been told there were no other rooms available through our rep in Kalamaki we decided to make the most of our holiday, despite the problems we had. After only one night in this hotel however, we had to leave late at night after arriving home from a trip to discover our room had been broken into. Luckily nothing was stolen but this only added to our unsafe feelings. After being rudely dismissed by staff we left and moved to another hotel which we had to pay extra for as our rep could not provide one. I would reccomend that you avoid this hotel at all costs!

hi just returned from 2wks in the sun weather gr8,genuine greek ppl gr8,food gr8, and of course apartment 1/10. the sirene apartments were basic the manager an albanian passing himself of as a greek was a very ignorant man this because we spent no money here. we had room 36 which has no view, above reception area and stairs to other apartments.
1.road to and from sirene dangerous
2.no pavements(check pic's)
3.little street lighting
4.swimming pool filthy
5.glass tumblers/bottles at pool side
6.noise level's outside room36 excessive
7.no hot water in mornings
8.no air conndition in reception area
9.25/30min walk to beach/main strip
10.room service every 3/4 days if lucky
in short you have to do a chicken run if you walk to beach/kalamaki main strip because of speeding traffic who overtake onto your side of road, you have an ignorant manager,we spent most of our time at the rainbow hotel and were wecomed with open arms and top rate hospitality and everywhere else we dined and drank in enjoy kalamaki only if you stay anywher else but sirene/dollas apartments

Last visited Sirene about 5yrs ago, and decided to have another go this year despite fact that review indicated that same was not as good as before. Now under the Thomas Cook Banner (Manos) the apartments have recently been painted inside and out and despite a hick -up on arrival overall it was clean and tidy with beddding/towels change every 3-4 Days including that famous wash of the marble tiled floor by the large wet Mop. The apartments were very quite with only about 10-12 in use and overall Kalamankia was also very quite. Gregor and his family were doing an excellant job in keeping the apartments clean and tidy, however there was a complete lack of interest by Thomas Cook on Site Reps. Weather was very good for the time of year and the pool was great to have although often as not there was a cold wind blowing across the pool. Beleive it or not on the 2nd week of our holiday the Thursday it rained and I mean rained although it was not cold and although it dis appeared after about mid-day the clouds remained very dark and over cast. - Go back again yes I think so - however I do wish the Greeks would provide a Brush/Pan in apartments for sweeping the floor between the visits by cleaners. In addition the support by the Travel Companies needs to be reviewd in respect of the Guests and the Owners of the Apartments - Well Done Gregor and Family hope to see you again soon - and although not really suited for the active person or for families due to location would recommend same if you want a quite relaxing Holiday

I can not compliment greg and the staff enough the hotel was clean and friendly we were able to get a sunbed easily although i belive that towels being left on sun beds has been clamped down on recently. the food was good at the hotel and localy but realy if you want english food ust do the rest of us a favor and stay at home

i returned today from a fabulous holiday in Kalmaki. We luckily had great flights which were not delayed which put us in a great happy holiday mood. Our room was obviously basic but no way was it dirty and disgusting, i believe some people are being a bit ungrateful. the staff care and try to be as helpful as possible. If you wanted 5* quality then you should be prepared to pay for it! overall our holiday was great, the room was lovely, the pool was great and best of all the sun shone all day every day!

myself and my family just returned from kalamaki.the island is beautiful as for the accomadation that was something else.when we arrived we were greeted with a grunt by someone who never told us his name and i still dont no it.after long journey we just wanted to chill out for abit but when we got in our room we were in for a shock.it was filthy.the bathroom stunk there was a dirty old pair of knickers on the balcony.the matresses had blood and other stains on them it was disgusting.round the pool there were a few sunbeds which had other guests towels on them from the day we arrived to the day we left there probably still there now,so the sunbeds were never cleaned.behind the hotel where the owners lived were some scabby old dogs which barked nonstop day and night.we were there for 7 nights but we stayed out all day just used the place for washing and sleeping when you could actually sleep.because we had an night flight we had 15 hours wait after having to be out of the room at 12.we asked if they could sort something out for us to have a shower in the afternoon they took us down to the basement of there storeroom to show us a room that could only be described as a [--] which stunk of dogs urine and the shower tray was full of hair and dirt it was disgusting.i would go back to kalamaki but the sirenne appartments need condemming and knocking down.i wouldnt even rate this place one out of ten.

first off id like to point out to people that this hotel was cheap to stay at and was self catering so dont complain if it isnt 5* quality, but it was the best holiday i have had by far the room was basic but what more do you want somewhere to sleep is all u use your room for so please dont be put off by other reviews , staff are very friendly and cant do enough for you, walk to the beach was roughly 20-30 min but it is a nice walk just straight down ,town is about 10 mins this is a perfect location for people wanting a quiet holiday you dont have the noise of the aircraft or anything most people have . in conclusion choose this hotel :D if there is anything you would like to kno contact me sum_69@hotmail.co.uk

We(family of 4) have just returned from a weeks stay at the Sirene apts and can only say what a wonderful time we all had, especially after reading some of the previous comments.
We arrived 07.30 to a warm welcome and to be shown straight to our room which was basic but adequate and clean with towels changed every other day.
The pool was cleaned daily, there was a warm and friendly atmosphere from all mmembers of staff who were always on hand and worked very hard to make our stay an enjoyable one. food again was well presented at a resonable price.
Overall we had a great time.

We have just returned from a 2 weeks holiday here. This is the 9th time I have been to zante but this is the first time I have stayed in Kalamaki. The room was a basic Greek room, no balcony, just 2 chairs and a table facing a wall so no view at all. It was all in perfect working order and very clean. Our room was cleaned thoroughly every 2 days with fresh bedding and towels. The towels were even arranged into butterflies on the bed which amused my daughter. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The waiters in particular are very pleasing on the eye and had all the girls in a tizz! The food was very good, especially their mousaka. BBq on the Friday night was simple but tasty but quite boring compared to every other we have been to. Swimming pool was ideal for the children and kept clean. We even saw them testing the water etc so we know they do look after it. Location however spoilt things for us. we love the beach and it was a very long way to walk in such high temperatures (45 in day and 30 at night). Sometimes we got a taxi which cost us 6 euro each way. Yes the roads arent great or well lit like back home, but welcome to Greece. But the Greeks are certainly more considerate on the roads to pedestrians than us British are. Kalamaki beach is ok, not a patch on Alikanas beach but you have to becareful where you go because of the turtle nesting areas and the patrol women on the beach jump down your neck if you are too near them. You also cant go on the beach at night due to the turtles. We had a fantastic holiday and are going back to Zante next year but we wont be stopping at Sierene again and we certainly wont be going back to Kalamaki.
