We arrived back from the Vasia mid June our accomadation was spotless with proper shower and bath and marble floors the food and drinks superb with plenty of choice for both adults and children alike with the choice of 3 pools and is a good all rounder. All the staff are really friendly and very very hard working and are constantly keeping the service at 100%,nothing is too much trouble. The animation team host 5 a side football(last chance ranch for competitive dads me included),aqua aerobics, table tennis ,darts ,waterpolo(competitive dads again) and childrens disco and fun games by the pool and dont force you to join in if you dont want I travelled with my wife and 2 kids and we all agree that it was the best holiday and service we had ever had. If you are looking for a complete relaxing holiday without hustle and bustle this is the place to go .I usually get a little bored with all inclusive but never found this to be the case and stayed for eleven nights, there is also an themed Italian(fantastic sunset) and Chinese restaurants that can be used once a week(pre booking advisable) and a weekly bbq with Greek dancers. Entertainment is limited at night with singers on twice a week(Kenny Cortez excellent vocalist worth a mention) but did not affect our holiday and we found ourselves playing cards and spending family quality time .Sissi harbour is picturesque and worth a visit .
really impressed

I have to say we were really impressed with vasia beach. The hotel and rooms were spotless. The cleaners were everywhere!!! The food was really good, a wide range and well presented. The only negative with the food is the lack of variety for fussy children. The choice of pools was vast. These were also very clean and because of the amount of pools there was plenty of room in the pools and surrounding areas. The location of the hotel is ok. for facilities around we found it hard to entertain children. views are fantastic but the beach was small and rocky.
One of the best for accomodation and food
from tailsnewcastle
we booked for may 17 2007,the accomodation was fantastic,we booked a standard room, but we were upgraded to a family room with a pool area(great)The food was out of this world, huge number of selections to choose from, the quality was fantastic, the service with a smile was first rate. The staff were foverever cleaning the hotel(spotless)Change your blue towels every 2 days. The maids were in every day, making beds, cleaning the floors. There are a few teething problems still with the hotel, such as,insufficent staff, the two alternative restaurants were terrible(not up to the main one)we were having to Q for meals,we were being pushed to go to a place called the Cotten club for our entertainment(not very good)When we were there, there where 400-600 in the complex,i spoke to the manager and he say's in the peek(july - august)this then goes to 1200,would not like to be there at this time. On the whole this was a very good holiday, would recommend this for anyone out of the peek times!
Unfinished hotel!

I booked this hotel with Olympic Holidays but I also checked out the hotel website. On the website the hotel looked fantastic - we were very disappointed when we arrived. There were only 2 bars open - one in reception and one outside. As this was an all inclusive holiday you can imagine how busy the bars were every evening - often no seating available. There was no entertainment - when we asked at reception they told us that the animation team had not arrived yet as they were having problems getting visas!? The reception staff were terrible - they definitely need to learn about customer service - everything was treated as not their problem. The other staff were excellent - special mention for Patricia who ran the pool bar during the day and the tropical bar at night - always cheerful and friendly even though she had to work such long hours. The room looked good on first inspection - but not if you looked too closely. The bed and pillows were the most uncomfortable we have ever had on holiday. Was good to have a separate shower cubicle though. Olympic rep was absolutely useless - if you could find one! They had no board in reception unlike the Dutch and German tour operators. We met people who had booked this hotel through the Olympic brochure expecting a small and friendly hotel - the brochure claims that the hotel has only 28 rooms! The food was fine - we went to the Italian and Chinese once and they were OK - be aware that you need to book these when you check in though! All in all we were disappointed that the hotel did not live up to the claims on their website. We would not recommend this hotel.
absolutely brilliant!

just got back from this hotel,my friend and i went for a week, didnt want to leave at all.the hotel is fantastic, never met such friendly and helpfull staff before, nothing was too much trouble.food fantastic(think i put on about a stone) rooms were lovely and very clean, the grounds of the hotel were kept spotless too.pools were great,3 to choose from! the resort of sissi is beautiful, very quiet and peaceful which is what we wanted, suppose july, august will be busier but we found it just right, shops bars and restaurants overlooking the bay, which is lovely. we had a visit to the spa which was fantastic, definitely a must! would go back to this hotel in a flash(infact tried as soon as i got back to book again for my husband and i for september but couldnt get in!!) cant think of anything bad to say at all,i absolutely loved it.
lovely

i hadnt been on holiday abroad since i was young and went with my parents and i have seen lots of 'holidays from hell' and dodgy reviews on sites such as trip advisor so I was dreading what we might find in sissi. being new to travelling i managed to book a family of four with two children 9 and 13 onto a flight that arrived at hk airport at three in the morning, not a good start but we arrived at the hotel by 4.30 and was greeted by a night porter who showed us to our apartment. on the coach to the hotel we had the tv comedy moment at each place we got to- oh no, please dont let this one be mine! several times, but when it went down a dirt track(there is a lot of dirt tracks and not much vegetation in sissi) we said please let this be ours -and it was! we had booked a junior suite and it looked the same as in the pictures shown on the website, very pleased. Everything was very clean, fresh towels daily, room cleaned daily, air conditioning good enough to make my son curl into a shivering ball( carefull with the settings) and a computer-no internet as advertised- that doubled as a tv. we had a bedroom with a queen sized, very comfortable bed, that was seperated from the living area by two sliding opaque glass doors which gave us privacy from the children on two adequate sofa beds. as we were so late the staff had made us packed lunches to eat when we arrived. the hotel has a lovely fresh water pool kidney shaped for swimming in and a large 3 foot deep pool which was used for polo, aerobics etc. although busy in august it was always a pleasant place to be. The animation team were an unobtrusive delight- if you wanted to joinin, go for it, if not they ask again next day- just right . entertainment was simple but fun. water polo, lots of diferent games for the kids french bowls or whatever you call it and water aerobics for the ladies or the boys put of by the violence of the water polo! before i went something i was worried about was the service at the bars. We went all inclusive and i was going to have serious rows with barmen trying to be tight with drinks but this wasnt a problem. everyone was really nice but i think this has as much to do with how you treat other people yourself as anything else. finally the food and this is what has got me to join and write a review more than anything else. I have read reviews from people who stayed there at the same time as us-august 2006- and cant believe what they are saying. I took pictures of the food I was that impressed. The reastarant was busy, it was peak, but as soon as anyone finished and walked away, the ever present manager had girls strip the table and relaid straight away, the same goes for any breakages. there was a different theme every night and a wonderful bbq night which we really enjoyed. the variety was weekly so if you stayed two weeks you had the same again for a week but that was ok . I dont want to sound like there was nothing wrong because there were minor niggles and they sacked my favorite barmaid halfway through but these were things to chat about with other guests at night not moan about! the things i would say about the place are not a beach holiday no good for night clubs sissi is beautiful but seen in a day and a night hotel is lovely and quiet at night very very clean good food
No way Jose

Stayed there last year but definetely will look for something else this year. Crete is a fantastic island and will go again this May, but will never stay at this property again Vassia is defintely not a 5* one as advertised. I found on the web that normally is 3* and now I will go to small claims court with MedHotels Food was lousy, lots of building works/improvements that are stil carried out after a year and eventually will not have even be completed this summer, something typical of our Greek friends! Do ya self a favor and book a proper 5* or book a good 3* at half the money
This so does NOT deserve a 5 star rating

My companion and I stayed at the Vasia Beach Hotel between the 10th and the 24th October. Let me just say I know the hotel had absolutely no control over the abysmal weather, it rained and blew for 9 days out of the 14, the sun deigning to shine on the Friday before we were due home the following Tuesday. That was depressing in the extreme. The original room we had was one in the old block – which we actually really liked. It was close to the sea and had the weather been good would have been idyllic. However, for 7 nights we were kept awake with the heavy seas pounding on the rocks below us. There was nothing to do, apart from watch the TV on which you could only watch UK TV Gold and I have to say that Hyacinth Bucket was losing her charms after 2 days, or Sky Sport which we never watch, or CNN news channel … which was really biased! There was a pool bar which was open during daylight hours, and a bar in the hotel lounge which only opened at 7. However, on the days when the weather was really bad if you wanted a cup of coffee, snack or drink, you had to wrap up in your anorak (if you'd been wise enough to pack one), and huddle under one of the patio umbrellas ... fun? I don't think so. Eventually we were moved to one of the "superior rooms" in the main (new) hotel. Lovely room, beautiful view, tea/coffee making facilities. Gorgeous bathroom, bath and separate shower. However when you had a shower water gushed down the inside of the shower door and straight out onto the bathroom (tiled) floor making the bathroom a serious health and safety issue for hours. Settled down for the night, unfortunately no sleep here either, due to the fact that all floors and walls were marble, and we were directly above the lounge bar on the first floor. It sounded as though we were trying to sleep in the municipal swimming pool. The heavy leather sofas and chairs were continually being scraped on the marble floor which echoed and reverberated all the way round the hotel it seemed, this went on until the wee small hours, only to start up again when the staff started cleaning. The food was something else altogether. And I cannot believe other people thought it was good. Most meat dishes were swimming in oil and fat. The vast majority of dishes were totally lacking in flavour, and the chef had a very odd idea of how to recycle the leftovers. I think he had a bulk buy of Brussels Sprouts and we were going to eat them whether we wanted to or not. How do you fancy hardboiled egg, cauliflower and sprout salad? Or a salad made from leftover tongue, squid, ham, cauliflower, hard boiled eggs and … sprouts! I thought I was safe the day he did a Chinese themed menu – I made the fatal mistake of having the spring rolls … that’s where he’d hidden them that day. I got quite maniacal about today’s “sprout surprise”. My travelling companion and I have both been on diets for the past few months and have attempted to eat really healthy food. There was an abundant but unimaginative supply of fruit, but be warned to cut it first, and investigate for grubs and worms! There was also a Seafood restaurant and an Italian restaurant, and with the AI option you were entitled to a meal in each once a week. I have to say (again) unfortunately the choice of menu was exceedingly limited, food flavourless, and again swimming in oil. I have to say that the staff as far as possible were as helpful as they were allowed to be, I got the impression they felt they were constantly being watched. The Maitre D' thought nothing of reprimanding a waiter or waitress in front of all and sundry. There seems to be a practice of whipping your plate away as soon as the last forkful is on its way to your mouth which we found irritating in the extreme. Possibly the only redeeming feature the “resort” had was the Spa. Absolutely excellent, where I had several massages and other treatments, which kinda kept my temper in check. However, on our last day my companion had booked use of the Spa and Sauna, arrived at the appointed time to find that none of those facilities had been turned on in anticipation and they were cold. I think another correspondent had it right when they said about the regimentation of the sun beds around the (icy cold) swimming pools and being far too many and far too close to one another. I cannot express how glad I was to come home … this was absolutely the worst holiday I have ever had.
Wow!

5 Star all inclusive at 3 star prices, too good to be true? It is. I would resist the temptation to hope this is the case at the Vasia Beach Hotel. Buy cheap buy twice. We would gladly have paid double for a proper 5 star holiday. We stayed in their top room catagory, the VIP maisonettes with private pool. There is nothing private about these pools. They all overlook each other in a courtyard type arrangement. No view except for your neighbours. Small children beware... the doors out to the pool do not lock and there is virtually no patio...just pool. After the first night of doors banging down the corridor at all hours we moved to a quieter location near the sea. This was only upon insisting to see the manager and even then only after we reassured him we were not seeking a refund. These rooms are nice, but no room can escape the evening entertainment which was tacky (karyoke one night) and way too loud. It does finish around midnight 'though. If you have already booked and there is no going back, I would recommend asking for a room near the sea, away from the main areas. I agree with other reviews the Spa is lovely. I booked a facial and looked forward to it. The day before, it was moved to a time (a note shoved under my door) I couldn't do...par for the course. The food is average. There were often long ques and rude guests. The restaurant extends into the carpark! BBQ night is actually in the carpark. You really do get your drinks yourself. Warm beer or warm wine on tap. The wine is pretty good for Crete 'though. There is nothing of the real Crete at the Vasia Beach. Sissi is lovely 'though and our redeeming nights out were spent in the taverners which are good. Darts around the pool, pool games, packed sunloungers, drinks dispensers to get your drinks yourself, 5 star? Hmmmm.
My husband and I had the most amazing honeymoon at vasia hotel. My husband joined in water polo, football and table tenis to name just a few of the activities going on (ping pong champion I might add). While for most of the holiday I would laze by the pool. One evening we... more
