Submitted By: "the wanderers"The staff were okay though I recall one bartender being a bit mean with the spirits in the mixed drinks so just ordered more spirits to strengthen the drinks. The big pool at the back tends to be noisy, but suppose good if you got children as it all seemed to be happening there!! We stayed at the smaller pool by the outside bar which was lovely and relaxing.
The only downsides I noticed at this hotel were the outside bar area seems to blast out dry air from vents in the wall which I had to sit away from as a sufferer of air conditioning and dry air allergy, but not really a big deal! The other was that on the couple of times it rained, the public outside areas do become extremely slippy and we did notice an unusual amount of people with bandaged ankles, feet etc....
Sissi itself is a lovely small picturesque town and harbour with some good restaurants with amazing views. However the road down to the harbour, although not far, is quite steep and could be difficult for people with walking difficulties and again quite slippy when wet!
Wanted to book to go to Santorini but changed minds when realised would cost 100euros each and a very long day(set off about 5am) We booked for leper colony trip which was a bit disappointing as we spent more time travelling!Coach trip to aghios then hanging around while other coaches arrive to board boat, then on the boat, then sitting on a rock on some remote island with no amenities for about an hour whilst the crew made lunch which then took about another hour to feed everyone! When we eventually got to the leper island it was extremely busy and hard to hear the guide above all the other guides in different languages. We got to spend about a half hour on our own to look round and then it was back to the boat followed by about an hour and half at aghios to wander about before getting coach back!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and was very happy with the all-inc package. When you check out the hotel provide you with a meal card so you are able to get food and drink up until you leave. Would go back to this hotel again and would recommend it as a pleasant 3-4star.
Advice: A lovely picturesque resort
Activities: All restaurants in village square served good food with wonderful views and ambience

Submitted By: Jenni DAdvice: Nothing to do and even hiring a car, there is very little to see other than lovely scenery.
Activities: Spinalonga was a huge dissappointment, but the drive to Plaka for the ferry was stunning scenery.

" Misled by blurb! "
Submitted By: penllaThe brochures advertise 2 hotels - the Vasia Beach and the Vasia Palace.
The ‘Vasia Beach’ has no beach! The roughish sea is completely inaccessible because of a very rocky foreshore. There is a 'beach' 300 metres away - this is a litter strewn, derelict area of compressed sand about the size of a tennis court. The hotel is a collection of dormitory blocks of strange aspect and architecture with rooms mostly overlooking other rooms or buildings.
The ‘Vasia Palace' has no grounds - and not even a sign to announce it. It is a weird looking assortment of buildings attached to each other, overlooking scrubland on one side and close to the local fly tipping site on the other. It is about 200-250 metres from the buffet and bars.
Bufos beach, about 1 mile away, is overstated. It has a rocky foreshore which makes paddling very difficult and to swim means negotiating some sharp rocks. It cost £8 to hire two old unpadded sunbeds and something similar for a couple of coffees.
In fact £8 seems to be a popular figure because that's the charge at the hotel for a Gordons Gin with local tonic or a Baileys - with ice. All Inclusives get cheap local stuff.
The poolside chairs beside the hotel pools are crammed together so any sort of privacy is hard to find. Similarly it is hard to escape the loud music blahting out of speakers all over the grounds. At about 10.30 a.m. it is switched on to the local version of a bright and breezy (and loud) ‘Good Morning Campers’. However it does not give a Hi Di Hi.
The main (buffet, of course) restaurant is noteworthy because of the unvarying selection of dull food and its lukewarm temperature. It is, probably, the worst holiday hotel buffet restaurant I have ever visited. Two other restaurants (open some evenings) overlooking the sea have a lovely ambience. The food is brought down from central kitchens and the menus never vary. Nevertheless both of them are a pleasant diversification - if only some people would change their clothes for dinner. But that’s the sort of place it is!
A third restaurant advertises extra-ordinary expensive menus. Fortunately, for our budget, when we were there it was never open (lack of customers?) - but it does feature heavily in the brochures. There is a Chinese restaurant in the (converted for the evening) pool snack bar. It looked absolutely awful and although we had booked unknowingly – we cancelled and walked away immediately.
The staff, without exception, are unquestionably excellent. The rooms are good, clean and very well maintained.
The spa is good - very good - but outrageously expensive. Unfortunately the thallosotherapy pool rarely completely functions because the jets get blocked up – or so we were told.
Sissi is a pleasant village with a good selection of tavernas and there are a few nice road walks around the area.
We were disappointed with the hotel. Don’t be fooled by the pretty pictures and the glowing descriptions.

Submitted By: Mrs JANE BOUDAIf you want entertainment go to Butlins. There is some but not very good
If you want English food you can have it but go to Butlins instead. The food is superb
with ample choice even for the pickiest eater and a childrens menu.
This by local standards is considered 5* but is more of a 3/4*. It is clean and well kept though like all Greek workmanship things are never finished off well. There are lots of sharp edges on walkways and steps and negotiating the amphi theatre steps is a feat in itself though I didn't see any accidents while I was there. There was some broken playground stuff that should have been removed but wasn't. THe air conditioning is not very efficient as it works on a sensor and goes off after half an hour. So you don't come in to a nice, cool bedroom and at night you have to keep activating the sensor all night long if you want air conditioning which means waking up and waving your arms!!!!
The pools are lovely but get your towel on the lounger early (before breakfast) and beat the Germans at their own game. If you're half board like us get friendly with the all inclusive crowd and they will get you drinks and food with their card - Saved us a fortune as prices at the snack bar can mount up.
You don't need to take any beach towels as they can be borrowed from reception, just don't loose one as it will cost you 30euros. We loved the hotel and met some lovely people there. Would I go again - yes if it was in a different place and had a beach - which it doesn't. The name is very misleading. All in all it was a very restful holiday but it is a very small area and you need transport to get anywhere. Taxis are expensive the local bus leaves around 9-15 am and will get you around. The hotel mini-bus will take you to a near beach and colllect you but it is rocky and rough. The receptionist recommended another beach near Malia which was only 10mins away and cost us 15euros each way by taxi !!! but it was a lovely beach. Hope this has been helpful and have a lovely holiday.

Submitted By: Mrs P DureyI called reception immediatly only to be informed there was nothing they could do and we would have to wait until the following day to speak with the Managment.
I was not happy with the response as my Husband has mobility problems and the rooms were up flights of stairs and quite a way from the main reception and pool etc.
I went to reception again to be told there was nothing that could be done, I asked for the Manager only to be informed there was no one on duty until the following day, I told them of my problems, and informed them that I woulld sit in the reception area until something was sorted!!!
Within 5 minutes the receptionist came up to me and informed me that they had now found us alternative accomadation, which was a private suite with it's own private pool!
WOW, what a difference! the rooms were 1st class and made the holiday.
I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone (ask for room 1629!!!!)
The staff were very helpful and food wass good, I would defiantly recommend the Lobster night in the 1996 restaurant (which was not included in the all inclusive, but well worth the extra money)

Submitted By: Miss N AmosNeither me or my boyfriend could fault the holiday, we had a FANTASTIC time. The hotel was amazing. We are both extremmly fussy easters, but had not problems with the food as there was a huge selection to choose from.
The rooms were very cosey and cleaned daily.
There was 3 pools to choose from, one with more entertainment, and the other two more for relaxing. There was also rooms with their very own private pools.
The staff were fantastic, and we made friends with the barman and waiters! They were very polite and were willing to help with anything!
I would recommend Vasia beach and spa to anyone. Me and my boyfriend are 18 and 22 and enjoyed ourselves very much. The hotel caters for all ages!
Definatly 10 / 10!!!!

Submitted By: Mrs L CenciMy one MAJOR TIP is avoid “Mevis car rentals” at all costs!! We rented a Suzuki Jimney from them which broke down in the first hour – leaving us absolutely stranded for 5 hours on the side of a busy, dangerous main road in blazing heat. Incredibly, we received no apology or refund from Mevis, and lost a day of our holiday in the most miserable fashion. Sadly, we came across several similar cases – so be warned!

Submitted By: Mrs P HOWELLSVasia Hotel and Spa, is not a 5* hotel rating. I would like to know who rated this hotel. Our down points: No beach close by, must catch a shuttle bus, that takes you 5 - 10 mins away, then to find a sandy beach, must clamber over rocks and on roads. The beach at the drop point is pebbles. Next down point, is the mini bar/coffee facilites. The mini bar consisted of 2 x beer, 2 x water and a few sml bottles of fizzy drink. Coffee consisted of 2 sachets. We went to reception to ask for top up on water and coffee, but were told we couldn't have more. The room was adequate, but no clock.
Now for the positve : The food was excellent, lots of choice, we couldn't fault it. The staff were friendly, especially the reception. The pools were clean, and always plenty on sunbeds available.
If we compare this hotel all inclusive to a Carabbean All inclusive, it falls short. Saying that we had a fantastic holiday, plenty of guarenteed sunshine, and chilled out. I would recommend it if you can get a good price.
Happy holidays
