Just ok
We stayed at these apartments, having booked very last minute. We booked flights through Thomas Cook and they also found us this accommodation. As there were no up-to-date reviews for these apartments, I thought I would submit this one. This is our 5th trip to Greece, the 2nd time to Kalamaki. We had a two bedroomed apartment, with a sea view and it was very large. Usual basic kitchen with few utensils. The apartment was well cleaned for our arrival though after this we only saw the maid twice in the week. Once she gave us clean towels and bed linen, the other time she emptied the bathroom bin and washed the floor. This was it as far as cleaning went. There was a bin/mop/brush outside our apartment so you could put your rubish/bathroom bin contents in there, and I did mop my own bathroom. We also had to provide our own toilet paper - not a problem - but the first time we've ever had to to this. The bedlined and towels have seen better days - a few rips and the colour was no longer white - more grey. However they had been laundered. The pool bar was ok - not overly friendly. Snacks ok, but fairly expensive. Staff were friendly enough - invited us to the Greek night and bingo etc. We didn't take them up on this as not our scene, but we did join in the quiz night which was fun. On the whole the apartment was fine - not the best but livable in. The studios looked very small. There was a drain smell at the back and the water did come up through the bathroom drain after the shower had been used for the 2nd or 3rd time - though it seeped back down again. Not the place to go if you expect fluffy bedlinen and towels and a high standard of cleaning from the maids. However, we had a very cheap deal, got a week in the sun, and a nice relaxing break. Can't comment on what the response would be in you did complain about cleanliness etc. Kalamaki itself has changed in 2 years. More English greeters outside the restaurants and prices have risen a fair bit. Last time we went our favourite restaurant was Michaelos - this time it wasn't. Service not as good - food quality down and prices up by around 25% in two years. Lovely meal at the Artemis, Mermaids was rubbish. Found a lovely British run restaurant called "yo-yos". Run by a lovely English lady and the food was excellent. Well priced too. Normally we try and eat Greek but this place was so good we returned the next evening. They also have a library where you can exchange your holiday reads. Overall a lovely break. Not sure we would return to Antonis, and next time we may try half board as eating out has become much more expensive. Final recommendation - try the Oasis cocktail bar. Fab cocktails - they use real spirits not the cheap imitations - and you can tell the difference. Lovely service too.
Fantastic Place
We stayed at the Antonis 24th May- 07th June, 2007, it was the best relaxing holiday yet, even though it rained a couple of times!!. The rooms are basic but very clean (it is Greece). Our rooms were cleaned 3 times a week with bed change twice a week. Pedros, Julios & Nick, who run the bar were great, nothing was too much trouble for them. the pool is the best in Kalamaki and was used by other holiday makers, but as there are loads of sunbeds it made no difference. Bar snacks were good and entertainment is on every night of the week, the Greek night on a sunday is a must, everyone gets involved and is good fun. Can't say a bad word about any of the restaurants we ate in, a few of our favourites were the Vakhos Marios, Olive Tree, Taverna Paris, Merlis. A visit to the Cave Bar is a must but watch the mozzies we all got bit too pieces.!!. I would definately go back to the Antonis tomorrow if I had ther money, highly recommended.
