This was our first girls holiday There was 5 of us and we went on 19july to the 26th of july 2009! We stayed in Paradise Apartments And It Was Amazing, the bar staff where sooooo kind and funny. We Got On Really well with the bar staff Morris And Kathy, Kathy would always give us a kiss and hug hello and goodbye she was lovely! :) Sandra the manager of Paradise apartments was the niciest woman ever, she treated us like her own and we looked at her like she was our mum she told us to stay away from the reps and be carful about the gypsies she was sooo lovely couldnt of asked for a nicer hotel manager! :)
The Rooms Are Clean, Tidy And very very nice! Wouldnt of changed anything about it,
The pool is lovely, very clean and the space for sunbathing is very good.
The food is sooo yummy and quite cheap so we was happy with that.
All i can say about Paradise Apartments is that its the niciest hotel and lovely people and you wouldnt feel uncomftable atall throughout your holiday and if you had any trouble the staff would help you sooo much. " Thoroughly enjoyable "

Just returned from 2 weeks in the Paradise and had a lovely fortnight with my husband, our son and his fiance. We had a lovely apartment, both bedrooms en suite, and a separate kitchen, and a balcony overlooking the bay - absolutely beautiful!!! We had a few lunches and breakfasts in the pool bar and enjoyed every meal. We ate out in the evenings at various restaurants - Best were Astoria, Maestro and another overlooking beach, but can't recall name (handsome boy outside, offering free wine as he shows you the menu). We enjoyed quiz nights in the Astoria, Mon & Fri, Thursday in the Iris Bar and won a round of golf on their Crazy Golf, which was fun. Tuesday quiz night and BBQ at the Paradise was good fun, and the food was lovely and plenty of it. The road train tour (Trainaki) is good fun (we did it last year, when we stayed in the next village, Alykanas. The only downside at the paradise for me was the towels were changed weekly, so our travelwash came in handy and there was a line on the balcony. No rush for sunbeds: we came down quite late some mornings and there were always plenty available, even though the pool is used by locals and people in nearby accommodation. The bar staff, etc., very friendly and Sabrina, who worked in the bar and waitressing, was lovely. The local bar around the corner (opposite the Apollo Restaurant, which we didn't go in, as we like a walk in the evening)was good, and we usually ended the evening there (and sometimes began it!) - he likes giving free shots of various varieties!! A lovely holiday and I would definitely return, as long as I could have the same apartment overlooking the bay, with Kefalonia visible in the distance...so beautiful!!!

" Adequate "

Just got back from a week in Alykes. Had a lovely holiday overall but was dissopointed with the accomodation. On arrival we were greeted by the manager of Paradise, who didn't introduce himself or make us feel welcome. Throughout our stay the staff continued to be unhelpful and unfreindly with every request seeming like a hastle. We also found on arrival that the airconditioning and the use of a safe would come at an extra price of 45 euros for the week. The room was basic but clean. We were only given one set of towels all week and the room lacked essestials such as washing up liquid, toilet roll and tea towels.
We found the area of Alykes to be really nice with beautiful beaches and good tavernas; everything you need for a relaxing holiday as the area is quite quiet. We hired pushbikes for the week at a good price, which allowed us to explore the island visiting Zakynthos and Laganas. The roads are quite flat and the views along the coastal route were stunning-a must see!
We strongly advise against the all day cruise around the island as what was promised by the salesmen was not delivered. 90% of the cruise was rock face so the views we expected were disapointing. The trip lasted 9 hours and in that time we spent only 1 hour on the shipwreck beach and just a further two stops for swimming which lasted about 1 hour. We felt that this was a wasted day of our holiday and found the whole day frustrating to say the least! We had been promised to see the blue caves but not told that this would come at an extra price, food and drink on the boat was also ridiculously expensive and a waste of money.
Paradise studios were in a good location just out of Alykes and we enjoyed a warm welcome and freindly service at the local cocktail bar, Virago's! Overall we had an a excellent holiday ad hope to return in the future, but will certainly avoid all boat trips and choose different accomodation!!

Advice: Alykes is beautiful, quiet and relaxing, fantastic beaches!

Activities: Biking around Zante, eating at Paradisiaco and sipping cocktails at Virago's!!

" Fantastic Family Holiday "

We spent a wonderful, relaxing 2 weeks at the Paradise. The name suits it well. The staff were fantastic, and couldn't be more helpful.
The rooms, bar and pool were very clean and well looked after.
Having my 15 year old daughter and her friend with us, we found the place perfect for them. They had a great time.
The town is a short walk away, where we dined most nights. Not having a bad meal the whole time. Please go on the train trip, and the Greek night they were great fun.
Really enjoyed the BBQ/Quiz night at the Paradise. We will win this year I am sure of it!
Unfortunately, the Paradise was fully booked at the time we wanted to go this year, so have booked next door, but will be lazying by the Paradise pool and having my drinks poured by the wonderful Dimitri again this year.
Hello to Spiros and family, Dimitri, Tina and Nicos. Can't wait to see you again this year. P.S. my hand is all better, thanks to you.

Advice: Alykes can be lively or quiet, the people were friendly and very helpful

Activities: Ate in a lot of the local restaurants and enjoyed all our meals

" Have just returned from two weeks of... "

Have just returned from two weeks of pure paradise. Highly recommend these apartments. Husband and I had a great two weeks. Very clean and staff very helpful. pool cleaned every day I know this because I had to put my towels down at this time but it wasn't any hardship as the sun was shining. We are trying to book these apartments for next years holidays here hoping we are successful. The only downside was the towels as we didn't know they are only changed the once but hey ho, we know for next year if we are successful in booking.Dimitris and all the staff great keep up the good work.

" Just got back from a very hot two... "

Just got back from a very hot two weeks at the paradise. If you want a sunbed by the pool make sure you are up at 7am to get your towel on a bed, not something i enjoyed but necessary as you share the pool with the big hotel next door and the camp site plus anyone else who happens to be passing. People were not happy about the towels only being changed once but it does say in the brochure, also no toilet paper is provided, so be warned. The location is good and quiet most of the time can be noisy at night from bikes going round the campsite, but it was the heat that kept us awake. The Relax bar does a good english breakfast.

The train ride is a good trip to go on for a couple of hours, they do a great greek night on a saturday 25euro each all you can eat and drink dancing on the tables and plate smashing, but they dont advertise it we only found out on the day trip and we were going home the next day otherwise would have gone.

The airport is better but still nowhere to sit. They are red hot on suitcase weight and were charging everyone who was over weight. You can only take through small bottles
of liquids so stock up on water, but most of all have a fab holiday alykanes is very greek and the people are really nice and friendly.

" Just returned from a fantastic two... "

Just returned from a fantastic two weeks at the Paradise Apartments - Mrs Kelly with her 1/10, definitely did not stay here!!!

The Paradise is situated at the end of the road and therefore no traffic noise. Stayed in Apartment 13 with husband and 2 children - it has two large on-suite bedrooms and a basic kitchen with a large balcony overlooking the sea and was just perfect.
The pool bar is reasonably priced with a good selection of food and drink with nothing too much trouble for the staff. The pool is a good size and was cleaned everyday - it has steps going down to the sea which you can walk out in for ages in shallow warm water.
I agree that the bbq & quiz nite is a great night with really good food - we were lucky enough to win a bottle of wine with the best team name two weeks on the trot!

It is a lovely flat walk of about 10mins in to the town which has some fantastic tavernas & bars - we didnt have one bad meal in the whole 2 weeks we were there.

We dont like to do organised trips but hired a car for 2 days - 1st day went to St Nick's Port and did a boat trip to the Shipwreck & Blue Caves - this really is a worthwhile trip as the scenery and blue waters are stunning. Unless you are very brave I wouldn't hire a boat and do this trip yourself! Captain Pugwash and crew from Exeter would agree!!!!!

2nd day went to the waterpark - I would advise that you dont go on a day that organised trips go like we did as it was very busy and you were queing for donuts, our youngest aged 7 was told she could only go on the small rides - however later in the afternoon once the organised tours started to go and the park became quiter she ended up going on everything!

We all really did have a brilliant two weeks and met some fantastic people and would agree that we would definitely visit the Paradise again.

Made it home safe thanks Nick!

" We have just returned from a fabulous... "

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday at Paradise studios we stayed for two weeks, the first week was so peaceful and as the apartments were set right back from the nightlife quite isolated but in a nice way. Air con is a must the weather was red hot just how we wanted! the sea is beautiful clear blue able to walk out for a distance as so shallow. The snack bar had nice food Dimitris has a good eye for business with the rates of his food vs supermarket round the corner! You must try the BBQ and quiz night excellent food and a lovely night. The second week, was rather loud with new arrivals, weather getting hotter. excellent restarants in and out of town recommend apollo! Watch out Dimitris likes the odd tequila here and there with you! would visit again in a few years time xx

" We have just returned from an superb... "

We have just returned from an superb holiday at the Paradise apartments.
We have travelled in Greece for 20 years and would rate this accomodation as one of the best we have been to. The pool is excellent and the sea is about three paces away. I cannot understand the complaints of the previous person who gave the Paradise 1/10. I think they may have been staying somewhere else!
Nothing was too much trouble for Dimitris, Spiro and Marietta, the BBQ night was great with good food and a quiz hosted by Nick, an expat. The rooms were basic Greek that you see on all the islands, but spotless and spacious with everything you would need in them. There was no noise after 12 o clock, and as the Paradise is situated well away from the resort centre, although only a flat stroll of about 10 mins, it made for a good nights sleep every night.
Alykes itself was just the right size for a 2 week holiday with plenty of nice restaurants and bars there if needed. We tended to go for the ones off the main street as the cooking was more traditional.
All in all a great holiday, good accomodation and the desire to return next year
Hope Jason Tracy Jasmine and Madison got back to Gloucestershire O.K.

" Just got back from a fab week at the... "

Just got back from a fab week at the Paradise apartments. Paradise is the right way to describe this place. It is right by the sea, quiet and nothing is too much trouble for Dimitris and his staff. The apartments are basic but provide pretty much everything that you need. The pool bar provides reasonably priced food and there is a good selection of restaurants and bars in the resort (about 10 minutes walk away).

The resort is definately for people who want a peaceful, relaxing holiday. This is one of the quieter resorts on the island. There are things to do though and I would recommend a trip to the blue caves (you can get a boat from the main jetty in Alykes).

The only downside of the holiday was the airport. Although it has much improved as you now queue inside in an air conditioned building (I gather from other accounts on here that people had to have to queue outside to check in!), there is a lack of seating, and only one snack bar. We had a sandwich, 2 packets of crisps and 2 soft drinks and it came to 15 euros! Why did we buy the food at 15 euros? because there is no prices/menus so be warned!

Generally, I would definately recommend Zante. The people are friendly, the weather great and the place is absolutely beautiful (once past the airport!).

" Choose this holiday on the... "

Choose this holiday on the understanding that although it was a lively resort, it was located in a quiet location.
On arrival, it soon became obvious that it was not for families with small children. Childrens pool was up steps and caged, adjacent to the deep end of pool, which could be accessed via a small opening in cage. What appeared to be the play area consisted of one slide, which was on a hard surface, which was removed by the younger adults and placed at the deep end of pool, and used as a water slide by the teenagers and younger adults.
Also, as this was a self catering complex, we did not expect to have to go and ask for basic items, such as a kettle and toaster.
The noise level was unacceptable, complaints were registered with the Rep (whose attitude left a lot to be desired) and the complex manager, very little was done to resolve issues.
Quad bike and general unruly behaviour in the early hours of the morning, within the complex grounds, totally unacceptable.
Would not return to this place now, even without children.

" We also stayed in Apartment 13. We... "

We also stayed in Apartment 13. We were really looking forward to this Holiday but had horrendous luck with the weather, it rained, thundered and lightened most of the week, we were freezing the apartment was very draughty and cold. We ended up sleeping with the kids in our beds just to keep warm at night.

The other apartments apparently had hairdryers, and had been refurbished but ours hadn't, the cooker was very dodgy and kitchen poorly equipt, but there are great restaurants in town particularly one called RELAX, excellent family atmosphere, very friendly and reasonably priced and the VIRAGO bar near the hotel was lovely.

This is the third time i've been abroad so I'm not exactly well travelled but I wasn't impressed with the area surrounding the apartments, it was very run down and although it was the end of the season could do with some care and attention.

It has put us off risking another holiday in Greece in October, but that could be do to with the weather.

" Booked a cheap last minute break to... "

Booked a cheap last minute break to Alykes (Alikes) through takemetogreece.com - tour operator My Travel / Manos. Went to Alykanas beach last year so had an idea what resort like. I always look on review sites as in past they have helped when choosing holiday so here goes hope this is of help to you.

Coach from airport good, 6 stops enroute Paradise Apartments are last drop off, took about an hour, coach air conditioned, informative rep. Immediately met by Marietta at Paradise Apartments (PA) with key to apartment. Immaculate inside, typical holiday apartment, however good quality beds, wardrobes, shower room which has open shower not ideal but hey your on holiday! All the cutlery & crockery you need even a kettle which is free of charge most self catering in Greece you pay around 12euro for kettle for one week.

Air conditioning available 35 euro for week but in Oct you don't need, gets chilly on an evening, Our apartment had terrace with part sea view, this is very very limited view due to garden & trees, but still ok. You are 25m to the beach, it's quite narrow near the PA and no sand just pebbles, take 5 minute walk and you have lovely sandy beach. The pool area at PA is immaculate with plenty of sun beds, as it was Oct very quiet, believe it gets very busy in high season.

Alykes is small traditional Greek resort, with a 10/15 walk on beach taking you to Alykanas, sea is beautiful and shallow for around 200m, we have no children but told ideal for kids.

Take breakfast at Palm Tree 2 (on the beach) or Relax Bar (at x road on main street) Full English with drinks for two around 10euros. We ate at few places all great food, you can have traditional Greek or English food, meal for two, starter, mains, litre of red & couple of beers for around 25 Euros !

Restaurant in Alykes called Olympic Cuisine Bar all I can say is WOW! A meal here can be reasonable or very very expensive it's your choice, the menu is amazing and you will experience some of the finest food in Alykes. We were lucky to get a table as everyone books in advance, well worth going. Close to the PA is a restaurant called Apollo 5 min walk, again good food and good value across the road is great bar called Viagro, fab cocktails, beer and great owners really look after you.

Bit of advice on what to take with you - tea, coffee & sugar as essentials as they are quite expensive about 8euro for small jar coffee. The AP are excellent value, the rooms were cleaned every day, beds made, take extra towels as you only get one set for week also bedding not changed in week no great hardship, despite this I highly recommend PA. Food is very expensive at pool bar at PA, 2 coffee's, 2 toast's, butter & jam 13euros!!!!!!! Apart from that it's great.

Be aware the cost of food & drink at airport on return they very very pricey. 2 beers (750ml) & pack of Pringles 23 Euros! Ouch!

Spiros and Marietta are always around if you need any help and keep the PA in immaculate condition.
