Lap of Luxury
When we entered our room I thought "Oh yeah". We were in #28. The spread, curtains, and pillows were all matching in a beautiful turquoise, blue, white and lime green pattern and they made use of those glass cubes for some of the windows. Furnished very modern, there was a separate sitting area with the television and mini bar. The bed was comfortable and there were two air conditioners! It was really nice just to relax in this room because it was so comfortable. Your breakfast menu was requested the night before. At your... more
Wonderful hideaway hotel in beautiful grenada
We stayed a week at the calabash during the rainy season and had a wonderful time. personally I don't think I would go to the carribean again in the rainy season as previous years we've gone when the weather has been better - but that was our choice and we know for next time! Despite the rainy downpours we did have a lot of sun as well and it didn't spoil our holiday. Despite the hurricane damage Grenada is a great island to visit. We did the full day island tour which was excellent and includes visits to all the major sights and a... more
Loved The Calabash Hotel
The Calabash Hotel was a wonderful experience. My wife and I spent 9 days at the hotel and it was fantastic. The Calabash Hotel is a 5 star hotel with service that matched. The rooms were very spacious with a fully stocked mini-bar. You can also upgrade to a suite style room which is bigger and has a full kitchen. Every guest has there own maid which cleans your room and prepares your breakfast every morning and delivers breakfast to your room at a time designated by you. Lunch is served under a shed located on the beach and dinner... more
Romantic hideaway
We stayed at the Calabash during the 'rainy' season in 2005 and had the most wonderful time. Occasional short cooling showers were appreciated to interupt the hot sunny days. The hotel was amazing, every detail was carefully thought of and staff could not have been more polite. Breakfast on your private balcony, 11.00 am drinks on the beach, afternoon tea and cakes followed by canapes delivered to your room at 6.00 pm, all at no extra charge. The Gary Rhodes restaurant is also great with fresh food and specials changing every day. The... more
Excellent
We had a great stay at the Calabash and I would thouroughly reccomend it. The location is lovely, right on the beach and with only 30 or so rooms everywhere is peaceful. The food in the Rhodes restaurant is extremely good!! We also tried some other restaurants, The Beach House and True Blue restaurants were both fantastic and good value for money. We hope to go again soon!
Visit Grenada before everyone else catches on!
My friend and I have recently returned from a two centre holiday in Antigua and Grenada. We had a fabulous time in both: We loved every minute of our stay at Calabash (a superior suite was well worth the extra money) - from breakfast and evening canapes served on our terrace to the enormous walk-in wardrobe! The staff were great and the taxis booked via the hotel were brilliant. A highlight of the trip was a wonderful day trip by 10-seater plane to Union island to sail on a schooner through the Grenadine islands - FANTASTIC! Yes,... more
Lived up to expectations
Stayed at Calabash in April 2004 - it lived up to our expectations as the service was impeccable - our room was a little outdated but very comfortable - breakfasts are served on your terrace - the beach is so quiet and the pool hardly used - we had it to ourselves on one day - the food at the Rhodes Restaurant is fabulous - and the staff are all very very helpful - would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a low key stylish friendly hotel
Classy but friendly
Stayed February 2004. This is a perfect hotel for excellent friendly service and accommodation. The beach is a little small but even when the hotel is full far from crowded. The maid service at breakfast a nice touch. The Rhodes restaurant generally very good but they did have problems on a busy Valentines day. perhaps the meal choice could have been better. Staff were almost all first class-from Cynthia our maid to Ron the security guy. Would definitely recommend if you want good standards and not too much nightlife
Wow!
This is truly one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. The accomodation and food is 110% and the staff, especially reception, were 120%.My partner and I are gay and were made to feel very welcome, without rasied eyebrows or the like. I recommend this hotel as a "must stay" if visiting Greneda.
A perfect romantic getaway !
We married at the Calabash Hotel in April 2002 and it was the perfect setting for a intimate & private wedding. We stayed in a pool suite, which had a private plunge pool at the back of the room. It was great to relax there in the afternoon to cool down from the mid-day sun. The room also had a seperate sitting area, with CD Player. The staff at the Calabash are very friendly and they make you feel right at home. Considering it's THE best hotel on the island, it has a very laidback atmosphere and does not feel formal in any way.<br... more
