We stayed at Parque Central in Havana for 3 nights, It is such a great hotel, we were so happy with our choice. When we arrived at the hotel, you only have to look at the exterior to know that its first class. The lobby is possibly the most impressive, very luxurious. Our room was lovely and we had a nice view onto the street, we just loved watching the cubans go about their daily lives. You have to go up to the rooftop pool and see the magnificent view of the city, it really hits you then that you are in a special, unique place. We spent most of our of evenings sipping mojitos on the rooftop, watching the world go by. The food in both restaurants was delicious. When you are there make sure you have an tour around the city and go to Club Tropicana. Trust me, if you choose this hotel you won't be disappointed.
5 star prices, 2 star service
from A TripAdvisor Member
let me say that this hotel is far from a 5 star. when u pay for a 5 star hotel you dont just expect a clean room and a nice view, ladies and gentlemen its about SERVICE!!!!!! i stayed there between feb 16th-21st and was totally disappointed with the service. the front desk and concierge are rude and of no help at all; except for one gentleman named daniel. i asked on several occassions for help regarding reservations to restaurants, contacting tour reps, etc... and the front desk would tell me to go to concierge and the concierge would send me back to front desk. then on many occassions i would get the "i'm not authorized to use the phone" therefore i cannot help you. this was the response of the concierge mind you. if you are traveling to havana do not stay here b/c u will be disappointed. you are better off at a casa particular where they will give you the attention that this so called 5 star hotel wont without the high prices!!!!!!
Wonderful Hotel!
from Shelly2004
We were in Varadero for 2 weeks and stayed in Havana for 2 nights Feb 3 and 4 at the Parque Central. The hotel is beautiful and the service outstanding. We are two women and after reading some of the reviews concerning slow service, particularly with respect to women, we were a little wary about what we were going to encounter. With the exception of breakfast (there really should be more staff for how busy it is), the service we received at all hotel venues was, as already mentioned, outstanding. We dined both nights at the El Paseo restaurant and the food was very good and attractively presented. The staff in the restaurant are extremely professional and attentive and we couldn't have asked to have been treated better. Management can be very proud with how well this restaurant is run. The hotel lobby is impressive and the rooms are a fair size and very clean. The rooftop pool and cafe area were wonderful with fantastic views of the city. We reserved this hotel based on the reviews on this site. I will highly recommend the Parque Central to my friends and I hope that my review will also help persuade you to stay at this hotel. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
Not so exciting

The Parque Central is a good hotel with nice rooftop pool and good breakfast BUT there are many top quality characteristic colonial hotels in old Havana which are so much more charming and beautiful. PC is your typical international anonymous five star hotel with air con so high in the hall that you get stomach cramps when you walk in and a crowded buffet. Also because it is known as one of the top hotels the minute you walk out the door you get mobbed by beggars, taxis, sellers etc This doesn't happen at all when you stay at the equally expensive Santa Isabel down the road. Isabel, Raquel, Sevilla, Ambos Mundos (if you are after something cheaper) all give you, in my opinion, a much better feel of the city.
Best Location in Havana

Stayed at the NH Parque Central for 9 days mid january. No major issues, food very good (esp inc. breakfast).good security, clean, excellent location for seeing the city.( Front desk at times a little under staffed)but most staff very friendly and most speak english well. I would stay here again .
Nice, central location

Good city centre location, if a bit noisy due to the traffic. Roof top pool was a welcome break from the heat, the pool is freezing! Make sure you go to Club Tropicana (only the first drinks are free, but there is fun and sunshine......) Much better thn the Nacional, which is too far out of town, the Parque really is Central, we only took a one taxi, and that was to the Tropicana. Go, enjoy.

Dear Trip advisor users,
We, the management of NH Parque Central, Havana, Cuba, have recently noted a slight increase in comments re. the environment of the hotel.
Please rest assured that these comments have our full attention and priority. Although the exterior parts of the hotel are being considered public areas, and thus our influence is limited, we did take our measures in order to inform the proper authorities and to improve the situation.
We are well aware of the fact that our guests consider the exterior parts of the hotel as kind of an extention of the property. We will do everything within our possibilities to improve the direct environment.
Nevertheless, great part of it is also the "couleur locale" of Old Havana, so just enjoy it!
Kind Regards,
NH Parque Central

We stayed at the Parque Central hotel between 15th to 18th November and there can be no better location to be based in Havana. Minutes away from the main attractions and close to the heart of real Cuba. When we arrived at the hotel we were offered a free upgrade to a suite - which was simply stunning! It felt as if we were millionaires! The whole building gives off an aura of class from the entering through the reception into the lobby to even the magnificent roof top swimming pool. Breathless! The breakfast was first class. The evening meal did have a smaller choice but the service was exceptional. The only suggestion we could ever give would be to identify any vegetarian options. We would strongly recommend taking the opportunity of a horse and carriage ride around old and new Havana. There is no better way to take in a small sample of the Cuban culture and life style. However, a word of warning, you will get ‘hassled’ by various Cubans on the streets of Havana who will try to befriend you. There are many cons and tricks, ‘Milk for the baby?’ The cost after they ran away was 30 pesos. Just be very careful.
Not bad,not bad at all.....but

Top quality hotel in the heart of Havana. No complaints what so ever about food, service, cleanliness etc. I agree with all the positive points made but gave this hotel only 4 out of 5 for two reasons the first being that I felt that it lacked the character of the other Havana hotels that I have stayed in such a the Florida and the Raquel due to it being a rather new building. I thought the inner area of the hotel above the lobby(but not including) was particularly grey, depressing and architecturally uninspiring and devoid of charm. However a quick lift ride to the rooftop pool with its marvellous views was all that was needed to lift ones spirit. The other thing that I found rather surprising for a hotel of this standing was that we were often confronted by touts and beggars at the immediate front of the hotel and none of the doormen etc seemed the least bit interested in moving them along. Having these people pester you on your way in and out within a few feet of the hotels front door certainly did nothing to enhance the hotels ambience or quality. However the above were only minor inconveniences and I would recommend the Parque Central as a great Oasis to hang out in at the end of ones trip around Cuba.
Highly recommended

I have to agree with various previous reviews which praise this hotel which is undoubtedly an excellent centrally-located haven of luxury in the middle of a city which has sadly deteriorated over the past 45 years. I shall not repeat the positive aspects of the hotel which have been adequately described by others, but offer instead the following general advice which may be of assistance to "new" visitors to Habana : 1) The Convertible Cuban Peso (CCP) is now the currency of choice for tourists and should be used for all purchases, tipping, etc. rather than the U.S. dollar which was devalued by 10% by the Cuban Government on November 15, 2004. On the one occasion we dined in the Parque Central Restaurant the maitre-de was quite insulting when we left a generous tip in U.S. dollars....of course his comment received short shrift and we refrained from using the hotel restaurant during the remainder of our visit, nevertheless this appears to be indicative of the prevailing attitude in Cuba regarding U.S. dollars. 2) Limited quantities of CCP's are usually available at the front desk of the Parque Central Hotel in exchange for Canadian or U.S. dollars, GBP's, etc., however on a number of occasions we had to wait a couple of hours until their supply was delivered from some 'mysterious source'!! 3) CCP's may be obtained using VISA or Mastercard and a passport from the Sevilla Hotel (5 minutes walk from the Parque Central) or from various banks including the Scotiabank (10 minutes from the Parque Central). 4) If you wish to obtain CCP's from an ATM (there are a few available including one at the Scotiabank) make sure that you have a current useable password!! One final word....judging from my brief visits to various other hotels in Habana, none are comparable to the Parque Central (the insulting maitre-de excluded of course!!) including the Hotel Nacional!!
FANTASTIC HOTEL

First Class Hotel. Breakfast Buffet to die for. Something for everyone. Huge rooms and the hotel is kept very clean. Good cigar shop, smoke while you shop. Have a cocktail or a beer beside the rooftop swimming pool and take in the stunning views.

This was the second time we have stayed here. We stayed for 3 nights in Feb 2008 + previously in May 2007. Great hotel + very good location. Wouldn't really recommend Capitivating cuba as a tour operator to go with. The hotel has pretty good fod which is hard to find in... more
