Got back from Eryphilli 10.09.2011. Loved every minute. Nikos and his lovely family are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. All areas clean and tidy. Studio are basic but clean, clean linen every other day. Can't wait to come back next year

We stayed at the Eryphilli in August 2008 - its a superb place to stay - and the owners can't do enough to make your stay great. The apartments are a leisurly 10 minutes stroll away - no problem, and the main street banks onto the beach. There is a super-market just outside... more

First time in Kephalonia, and we weren't let down. Both Nikos and Peter were very friendly and Katelios itself was very quiet. The building work opposite the entrance was hardly heard at all. We went on the 3 island trip which was superb, also toured for a day around Sami... more

Super pool!
vrebateman's review is spot on - all I can add is if we were to visit again my hubbie would ask for a first floor room - we had a ground floor one and missed having the sunshine during the afternoon. Also, there was no where to hang/dry wet swimwear/towels apart from the patio chairs and table - an airer or line would have been useful and we did have a couple of down pours during the night so towels got soaked (soon dried out though in the days sunshine). The pool area is immaculate, Niko keeps it v clean and the BBQ night was good value with loads of food - too much! Our room was in the newer block, we had a proper enclosed shower with sliding doors - although I understand some had the usual shower curtain style enclosures. If you have a later flight there are also 2 showers behind the bar that you can use - these were always fantastically clean and had towels. We had twin beds (pushed together of course!) but some rooms have double beds. We found that the other guests were great and on most nights, most guests could be found having the last few drinks in the pool bar - we like to do our own thing on holiday and keep away from other tourists but after a meal out in one of the various v good restaurants just a short walk down the Road (Jerrys Elliniko/Tsobos Garden) were drawn to the bar by the good company. There are lots of places to eat and drink one favourite of ours was Aliti's Bar - on the left as you walk towards the beach. We also hired a car from Venus (very close to the Eryphilli on the main road) - go and see the lovely man in there he is very helpful - and a speed boat from the man on the beach. On the boat we tootled down the coast stopping for a swim and anchoring in Trapizaki for lunch. Katelios feels like a very safe and friendly place - this was our second visit and I'm sure we will go back.
AMAZING!
Just got back from the best holiday of my life at the Eryphilli in Kefalonia. The Hotel- small, family-run, friendly and quiet. Note there is no reception, the owner Nikos is to be found at the pool bar. The rooms weremodern and generally well maintained and clean. Simple and classy, exactly what you want from a holiday studio. I only gave 4/5 for cleanliness because the balcony was not swept when the apartment was cleaned (nor was there a mat to wipe your feet) which meant that dirt was traipsed into the apartment within 5 mins of us staying. Also, ran out of loo roll which was not replaced when the room was serviced. These are minor issues really. Overall we were really happy with this studio. The "kitchen" was VERY basic (2 hobs-1 large 1 minute, NO oven, 1 saucepan, 1 frying pan, tin opener, cork screw, cutlery and crockery for 2 people i.e. 2 knives, 2 plates etc NO wine glasses) which we didn't mind and wouldn't have stopped us from booking, but worth knowing. We still managed to cook nice meals and eat them on the lovely balcony. Take pastic wine glasses or something- wine doesn't taste the same from a beaker! Plenty of towels which were changed once during our stay, as were our sheets. Bins emptied every couple of days. This was a lovely studio to stay in, our balcony overlooked the sea. The pool had the most amazing views of the mountains (see my pics), the nicest pool I have ever seen at a hotel. Nikos was very friendly and has very good English (and seemed to like the fact that I used one or two Greek words). I thought the BBQ was OK, but it wasn't what I expected- a sit down dinner that was over in an hour. The food was lovely though and he catered for me- a veggie- very well. Katelios- the beach is covered in sunloungers, but a 2 minute walk to the left takes you to a more secluded and less busy beach. One of the quietest and loveliest beaches I have ever been to. Sea was fairly warm and clear- you could see fish if you went by the rocks. We spent time bathing on the rocks as we were truly on our own. See my pictures!!! There were plenty of tavernas selling great value and delicious food and a couple of cocktail places. There were 3 mini markets (the one next to the hotel is fairly decent- selling fresh fruit and veg, bread, milk, cheese, souvenirs, etc etc too much to write here!) and 2 places to buy excursions as well as a couple of car hire places. All I want in a holiday town. Very quiet, unspoilt, but not isolated and secluded. My main recommendation is to go on the BBQ glass-bottomed cruise. It takes you to see various sights of Kefalonia, you can see a ship wreck at the the bottom of the sea as well as plenty of fish. You do snorkelling off the boat (they give you the equipment) and there are two bottles of Champagne to dive for- my other half got one of them! You are then taken to a red sand beach where the captain cooks a BBQ (great veggie food available- you say so when you book- was delicious and LOADS of food) and serves lovely wine, beach volleyball is organised before the food then you can relax on the beach for a couple of hours. This lasts all and is amazing value at 58euros (includes coach to and from the boat in Argostoli). I would have gone twice if we were staying for two weeks. This was the best holiday I have ever been on, and will definitely be returning to Kefalonis. I highly recommend this hotel, the resort and the island.
Wonderful Eryphilli
Just back from a week in the Eryphilli apartments in Katelios. Had to write a review as we had such a lovely time! If you are a fan of quiet Greek holidays you will love it. If you want shops, lots of people and noise you won't! Nicos and Peter the brothers who run the place are the most friendly hosts you could wish for. NOTHING is too much trouble. The place is spotless. You relax the moment you arrive. Brilliant, would go again.
Loved the Eryphilli apartments - 16 - 23 September 08
I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Eryphilli apartments. The apartments are typical of Greece - basic but spotlessly clean with the usual kitchen utensils, plus kettle, toaster and a fridge. Katelios is a quiet restful area with a couple of supermarkets and a bakery. There is a good beach and if you want to walk, you can lose yourself in the hills above the apartments. Nicos was a wonderful host and his family are delightful. During our time there, we ate on three occasions in the newly constructed taverna at Eryphilli. Although there is only one dish on the menu (but changing each night), it was totally adequate and didn't need a more varied menu - the meals were delicious and at a cost of 10 Euro for the meal, it could not be beaten anywhere else in the village. We also found a wonderful taverna near the beach called "Dreams" and it really was out of this world. It is run by an English lady and her Greek husband - wonderful food there also. So all in all, a fantastic relazing week - we plan to return soon. Weather was excellent apart from one morning when there was torrential rain, but the fine weather soon returned.
Loved it so much, I'me going again!!!!
Hi Everyone I guess I should start by saying that it is 3 years since I last stayed at these lovely apts and with such a friendly family. I am however going back there on 20th September 08 (Only a week away) I decided to go back because having had such a wonderful, relaxing time back in 05, I knew I had to go back. (I haven't been back since due to work commitments). I found the town of Katelios and it's locals to be equally as friendly and a fantastic place to watch the amazing Agean sunsets with a glass of ice cold ouzo and grapefruit juice. Kefalonia is unspoilt and lets hope it always stays that way. Happy holidays to all those travelling soon and in the future. regards Kate
Fantastic Appartments(New)
A lovely place to see the greek island, although a little out of the way from the capital and some tourist destinations. A car is a must to hire should you want to explore the island's best spots such as Fiscardo, Assos and Sami. The rooms are very clean and the new appartments are well lade out and also have air con at an additional Charge(5 euros per night, quite expensive approx)that was the only down size, although you can acclimatise to the heat rather quickly and may not need it.
Fantastic Eryphilli
Just returned from our stay at Eryphilli. If you are thinking of staying here you wont be disappointed. The apartment was spotlessly clean with a kettle, toaster and single hob for cooking. The bar staff couldnt do enough for you and were very friendly. The food in the apartment's restaurant was excellent. The pool had plenty of sunebds and was very clean as was the surroundings. I cant think of a single complaint. Katelios is very quiet and ok if your kids like nothing more than playing in the pool or sea all day long. There are a few restaurants and tavernas along the sea front , a couple of supermarkets and a gift shop and thats about it really. So prob only suited if you want a very quiet holiday or are willing to hire a car to explore. This is not the right resort if you are looking for a night life but there are watersports during the day, ie windsurfing, speedboat hire etc. Opposite Eryphilli is a car hire place who again are very friendly. These apartments are highly recommended.
Just great!
I stayed here with a friend at the end of September. This is a wonderful place. Katelios is really quiet and has great restaurants (especially Persa's). We stayed in the new block of apartments at Eryphilli. They were spotlessly clean, as was the complex. Our apartment was cleaned every couple of days and sheets and towels were changed twice. The kitchen is basic but has everything you need. It's about a 10 minute walk to the village (bring a torch) but there is a mini-market and bakery close by. I'd recommend car hire (Venus across the road from the apartments was good) as public transport is extremely limited and a car lets you see the best of the island at your own pace. If you go here, it's a great choice. We felt really lucky back at the airport as all we heard were people complaining about their awful apartments or awful resorts! If you're looking for a nice apartment, fantastic food, lovely people and a really quiet time, this is the place. Enjoy!
Wonderful Erypilli
We have just got back from a weeks stay here . Lovely and clean , Top quality food .Such friendly people. Great to chill out and go wild if you want. Nicos never mined stay up late if you wanted a late night drink. We meet some ace people. Don, Gorden, joanne, Amy. Lisa, Mike . We will remember that last night for a long time , Heads still banging now. We hope to be back next year for second helping. Fantastic. love Doug and Liz. x
Lovely and peaceful
A very peaceful place to stay with beautiful views of the mountains as you lazy around the pool. Very helful friendly staff. Apartments are nice but basic and were cleaned almost every day. Self catering facilities limited but there was a kettle and toaster! 1km from village but there is a supermaket at the end of the road and 2 more in the village. Bakery just down the road and also Jerry's taverna - great value for money, big meals and lovely food. Very nice Vegetarian meze. More tavernas down by the sea. Car hire available in the village.
