My 4th visit to Katelios - my partner's first - booked flight only. Reviews for Eryphilli seemed good so called in to see if they had a room. Nikos and his brother couldn't be more helpful. Room was the best apartment I've ever had in Greece. Large, well equipped, clean, good bathroom, air-con, large balcony. The apartments are in a nice quiet location with a sheltered pool and a supermarket just at the end of the street. The beach and the village are a pleasant 5 minute stroll away. The barbecue on the night we arrived was excellent and, like the apartments, very good value. Kefalonia is a lovely island and Katelios is a beautiful spot with very friendly people. We will definitely be back to the Eryphilli. A holiday to treasure!

Excellent holiday.
Apartments are clean, but basic (typical greece), the older apartments do not have airconditioning, but we were told, hopefully next year all apartments would have aircon.
Pool excellent, plenty of sunbeds whatever time we went to the pool, only slight problem was the parasols are fixed to the floor, so it was a bit akward to keep sunbed in the shade, and it was so hot between 2 & 4 pm that you needed a bit of shade.
Food at the complex was excellent, better than any of the restaurants on the sea front
(and cheaper).
Nikos & family very friendly & helpfull.
The beach at Katelios could be a lot better, one end of the beach is sandy, but they are building a new Harbour or something, so there is a bit of noise and dust. The other end is large pebbles, also large pebbles for the first 3-4 feet as you get in the sea. 6 euros hire per day for sunbeds & parasol anywhere on the beach.
Car hire, try Venus carhire at the end of the road, reasonable prices, very friendly.
Places to visit, Fiskardo, Assos,Agia Efima,Myrtos Beach, Petani Beach ( small but worth it ), Kastro castle(well worth a trip), if you hire a jeep, there is a national park at the top of the mountain, that you can reach from the Katelios end, there is just a rock track going up, nothing but goats and trees, brilliant views all the way up, once you get to the top, superb views.
Overall a very nice island, greener than a lot of the greek islands, would definately recommend if you want a more relaxing type holiday.

The MOST RELAXING HOLIDAY I've ever experienced.
The Eryphilli Apartments are really well kept, clean and simple. They do get very warm at night with no A/C so be warned, especially when daytime temperatures reach 39C. The pool has fantastic views and is not overlloked and very safe. The owner Nicos couldn't be more helpful, and his brother Peter is a fantastic chef. They do a massive BBQ on Thurs nights for only e15, including wine, which is awesome. There restaurant is a recent addition to the complex and I think serves the best food in the area and is cheaper too. Other good restaurants are Jerry's (great seafood and Jerry very cool) and Persa's which is an excellent family run restaurant, try the lamb in foil paper - delicious!! The restaurant on the Kaleios sea front all serve good Greek fayre and excellent seafood. They complete for business on the street as they stand by their freezers full of sea bass and red snapper.
Katelios beach is quiet and OK. For a better beach walk 20 mins east over the rocks, where you'll find a lovely shallow shelving beach. Skala is good for water sports and all are fine for snorkelling.
We did an Island tour with Thomas Cook which was excellent and informative, a mix of stopping point inc, Mrytos beach, Drogarati Caves, Mellisani Lake and Fiscado, all excellent and the information gleaned whilst on the coach is very thorough. Beware, the coachs are not properly cooled which is challenging in 39C temps.
The locals are very friendly and everyone speaks good english.
The only downside was returning via Kefalonia Airport. You queue in the blazing sun and then enter a tiny area where only 3 staff check in 100's of people. Organised chaos and takes hours! The departure lounge is smaller than my lounge and is not sufficient for 1 flight let alone 3!! However, this did not spoil a great holiday.
10/10

We had a one bedroomed apartment in the new block lovely clean and even had a shower cubicle! We had air conditioning but didn't use it, there was a mini heatwave temperatures up to 38oC hot for this time of year it did get a bit hot in the night the last couple of nights. The other older block of apartments are lovely but no air conditioning only fans to hire which I think must be a bit uncomfortable in August.
The pool was lovely good size and very clean we went just to chill for a week and we did just that. No having to get up really early to grab a sunbed you easily still have a choice at noon.
Super market just at the end of the road and a bakery a stroll down the road. a fresh delivery arrived just after 08.30 so had to time it right same bread also sold in the supermarket.
Lovely tavernas along the water front with traditional dishes the one second from the end (can't remember the name) was really nice Moussaka one of the best.
Wouldn't say this was a resort for children there is no entertainment for them and the beach wasn't one of the prettiest.
Only fault there is a new apartment complex being built opposite the apartments so there is some noise didn't hear alot in our apartment number 30 but if you are on the end could be an early morning. don't know how this will change as the season gets busier!!

BRILLIANT!! I came back a week ago and still feel like I'm on GMT (Greek Maybe Time)!
Definitely recommend this to people who just want to get away from it all and relax in the sun!!
It is such a relaxing place to stay, but if you want to explore you will have to hire a car (there are 3 from memory in Katelios).
The food is amazing! (Especially Jerry's on the main road - not on the sea front).
The apartments were better than I expected as i have heard some horror stories about greek apartments. A compact bathroom with everything you need, a small kitchen normal sized fridge, we also got a kettle which we heard one of the guests saying that they hadn’t :S! The beds could have been better but the pool was great, just perfect.
There is a supermarket just outside the apartments which is very convenient! We didn’t think there was much difference in price from the other supermarkets.
They are also off the main road! Although there is hardly any traffic on there anyway!
We also went in to Skala which is just a larger version of Katelios really! The bus picked us up from outside the Kiosk at 11am (ish, remember Greek Maybe Time) and picks you up again at 5pm although we got a taxi back from outside the Kiosk in Skala for 15 Euros!
The transfer time is quite a long time considering it is such a small island but that is because of the roads being so tight and bendy!!
The airport is very small and only has 3 check-in desks! We were picked up from the appartments at 11am ish for a flight at 3.55pm It’s quite mad really when there are other flights checking in too! We were lineing up outside! Suprisingly organised though! Departures is TINY! Although arriving at the airport was fine we had our bags within 10 mins of getting off the plane!

My wife and I have been to the apartments 6 times in the last 3 years, it really is a superb place , peaceful and relaxing. Nikos is a brilliant host and Peter is a really good chef, he is coming on strong with his English as well. As for dining out at night try Persas a couple of hundred yards up the road, good traditional Greek food, its worth going there just to see the lovely Sophie... only 201 days to go and we will be there again.... can't wait.

Four of us have just returned from what has been one of the best holidays we have had. The apartments were immaculate, the maid service excellent and Nikos and his brother brilliant hosts.
The village was excellent, very quiet, but enough local restaurants to choose somewhere new most nights. (Jerry's is excellent, but don't go to Captain Jerries in the village as the staff are rude, you wait ages and the cooks smoke over your food!)
I would not hesitate to go there again or recommend it to anyone. Overall excellent, both as a place to stay and as a holiday destination. If you go, hire a car...there is so much to see!!!

Six of us have just returned from two wonderful weeks at the Eryphilli.
The picture of the in the brochure does not do it justice. The apartments were very clean and of a high standard. The linen was changed at regular intervals and the staff were all very friendly, especially Nikos.
The pool was kept clean and a joy to lie by the as the mountains and greenery surrounding are magnificent.
The only minus about the Eryphilli is that the drinks were quite expensive compared to other accommodation bars, but hey, you can't have everything and hopefully, we will be there again next year.

The Eryphilli, Well, Where do I start?
I had two weeks at this small resort. I was expecting a very basic studio apartment with the usual mod cons. Pay for the fridge, safe, fan, etc, etc.
Nikos the owner wouldn't hear of that.
I walked in and was met by a tastefully decorated studio apartment with views that you would only see in a magazine. Surrounding the apartments were a back drop of lush green mountains and olive trees.
To the right was a full bathroom sweet as well as towels, spare sheets and a litre bottle of water.
Straight ahead was a small but roomy balcony with views of the greeny/blue ocean and a good size family pool. In the 30 degree heat this was very inviting.
When I went down to the pool I was met by the extremely friendly host, Nikos and his sister Maria. I have to say I have never met two nicer people.
The BBQs on a Thursday evening in high season were fresh and fabulous.
Traditional Greek cuisine cooked by Nikos.
Try his fabulous moussaka with salad and fresh boiled potatoes with a twist.
After you have tried Nikos great food, work off a few calories and take a stroll to the picturesque village of Katelios.
Relax with a glass or two and watch the amazing sun set in this hidden paradise, and if you are extra lucky, you may get a glimpse of the loggerhead turtles.
The locals are friendly and make you feel like you really belong.
I was looking for a peaceful, tranquil and stress free two weeks surrounded by outstanding natural beauty and friendly people. I couldn't have wished for more. To me it was the perfect relaxation therapy.
But don't take my word for it. Try it yourself. It will change your life. I promise!
Sheri.

The Eryphilli apartments are lovely - set in a beautiful part of Katelios - in fact the whole island is beautiful. We had a warm welcome from Nicos the hotel owner made us feel welcome, and went out of his way to be helpful.
The apartments were clean, pleasant and comfortable - there are studio apartments with twin beds for 2 people and larger apartments which comfortably accommodated 4 people.
The facilities in the apartment were basic but adequate for an enjoyable holiday- a two ring portable hob, kettle, toaster and cups knives and forks. One large pan and a frying pan, teapot. Just enough to make breakfast or a basic meal - but there were plenty of tavernas and restaurants to choose from serving good food. The Katelios taverna was one of our favourite places - right on the beach.
The local people were very friendly and there were a few English people so there was no problem being understood in the resort - most of the time. We would definitely go back there - didn’t want to leave
The only word of warning - don’t hire a moped!! - We are experienced bikers at home and hired a 125 cc moped - but it was not powerful enough to get round the hairpin bends - the roads are difficult to ride on - a car or bus is recommended - as we had an accident - resulting in a broken ankle and our holiday being cut short. The nearest hospital is in Argostoli - it takes about 30 - 45 minutes for an ambulance to reach you from there and another 30 -45 minutes to get there - so bear this in mind if you are considering doing anything risky.

We have just had a lovely week at Eryphilli in Katelios, even though the weather was not perfect. Not much to add to other reviews except to say that the brothers who ran the apartments were great, hard working and friendly. We thought the apartment, though basic was lovely, clean and quiet. Most evenings were spent by the pool bar chatting to other residents who helped to make our holiday enjoyable. There was a very good full day excursion with a wonderful rep and with the help of a hire car we managed to see other sites and points of interest. However this is not a holiday for anyone who enjoys a busy night life or I think for children over toddler age. The only fly in the ointment was the return home transfer time. We were taken to the airport far too early and as already mentioned it is a small airport and became quite crowded. Next time, and we are certainly hoping to go back next year if it can be arranged, we will have a car from start to finish to avoid the bus transfer.
