Great holiday!
from WirralMandi
Just come back from a one week stay at the Bellos, loved it. For us it was a great base for sleeping, sunbathing and getting the odd snack in the day. It is situated in the middle of a hilly road, 10 mins down the road is the main town and 10mins up the hill (steep hill) are the villages of Piscopiano and Koutouloufari, both gorgoeus old villages with lots of taverna's, bars and craftshops. Staff are very friendly, brother's Gary and Eric mainly. Room's are basic (as Greece is), safe and air conditioning charge is extra. Pool area is gorgeous with a garden area and parasols and sun loungers. Snack - bar area includes pool table, dartboard and internet access. A pool bar is open in high season. Mini market situated on the complex. Restuarant on site but we never tried it but other guests said it was very nice. Overall i would reccommend this to anyone other than those with walking difficulties due to the hill.
So Friendly

We stayed in Christos Bellos in September. We found it spotlessly clean, great food in the Restaurant and the friendliest place we have stayed in ever. The best possible review we can give is that we are going back this year.

Great apartments

Location The Bellos (Chritos Bellos) Apartments in Hersonissos are a great place to stay, we stayed from 3rd to 11th August. The apartments on about 10 mins walk downhill to the main town ./ strip of bars etc in Hersonissos and a 10 min walk uphill to the villages of Piskopiano and Koutoulafari. The walk downhill is unlit in some places but a taxi back is only 6euro (about £4ish). Hersonissos main centre is really busy _it was august_ there are loads of restaurants and bars and nightclubs - some are very lively and there are groups of people on bar crawls etc but never saw any really rowdy or groups causing trouble was more just fun to sit with a drink and watch them go by having a good time. We have been there and done that but now like to just sit with a few quiet ones - there are quiet bars - one side of the street it is bars / clubs etc and the other is restaurants or chilled out places with wicker seating etc where you can sit overlooking the sea and be served your drinks etc. so there is something for everyone. The Villages of Piskopiano and Koutoulafari are really nice for a meal and quiet drinks it is very nice up there lots of traditional tavernas and also chinese etc - lovely lit up at nice with litle shops etc and great views down to the harbour. Also mini golf with a bar area and seating so seemed great for people with kids as kids were playing mini golf while the adults sat and watched with a few drinks - good atmosphere up there. Apartments The apartments are set in nice blocks with balconies with grape vines growing around them. The pool is a nice size and there is a small childrens pool also. There is a large bar area serving bar snacks and also a nice restaurant upstairs. The bar is very modern and has internet facility / pool table and nice seating areas inside and out. The bar does stay open til 6am but u don't hear it as they have to pull the doors across around 1ish and then it is sound proofed but is great if you fancy a quick drink when you get back in from your meal / town etc. Also there is a security man walking around and tells people coming in to be quiet etc. We weren't disturbed from sleep anyway as we had been drinking ourselves ha ha. The rooms are usual basic two beds small kitchenette / fridge etc and bathroom - the bathroom is small and the usual where the room gets soaked cos no shower curtain but nice powerful shower and plenty of hot water every night. Very basic but clean enough and regular change of bedding / towels etc. Rooms have aircon - you have to pay for that on arrival tho and pay for safe - the safe boxes are in reception as they have cctv there - you have a key and can access them when you please. Think its 54euro for aircon and the safe (about £30ish?)> well worth it tho as aircon is easily adjustable to suit your temperature etc and does get hot - it was at least 33 everyday and clear blue skies. There are plenty of sunbeds for all and you will get one ever if you get up at dinner but if you want a shade then best to try and get up and get beds before 10ish. Also a great pool bar serving ice creams / cocktails etc with shaded seating area. There is a 5 a side pitch and tennis courts aswell (payable). food etc was really nice - breakfasts etc. there is a minimarket right outside aswell sells everything you will need for self catering and souvenirs etc or there is a massive spar in Hersonissos at the bottom of hill and cash point there too. Thats where to get a taxi from also around by the spar supermarket. Daytrips we only did one daytrip as we just wanted to relax and only went for a week so we went to the water city water park which was great pick up by the travel / excursion shop across from the spar and drop back at the same place was a really good day out lots of slides etc and plenty sunbeds etc. There are loads of other trips aswell to go on that look good. Beach The beach at hersonissos - there is a tiny beach along the main strip and a bigger one around the other side of the harbour - neither of which are fantastic - there are sunbeds and watersports and cafe bars etc but water is rokcy and beach is coarse and horrible disgusting irritating people throwing fag ends in the sand - that really winds me up stupid bone idle idiots that they are = but we went one day and we are more pool people anyway. The water is very clear but beach just ok - however apparently there is a really nice blue flag beach at Stalis - the next resort along. Overall staying at the Bellos was great and we woudl stay again as it was a nice place and the courtesy room is available to all and is very clean with shower and toilet - one for men and one for women. I would recommend the Bellos to all as there was a real mix of ages etc - there are groups of single sex but they weren't rowdy etc and the staff are very helpful and would make sure anything like that was dealt with anyway I imagine was a lovely relaxing place in the day and night with either busy town or nice quiet villages - depends what you want.
restored my faith in package holidays

Nice, small & friendly resort; well-run. The rooms were basic but clean, although the curtains were too thin and didn't block out enough of the light. The air conditioning units weren't the best. There are grapevines growing from most of the balconies and the patio and pool area are well laid out with a large expanse of open green space to sunbathe in, and a picturesque mountainous bakcdrop. The staff were helpful and the owner was quick to curtail any rowdiness by the pool and to keep the noise down late at night and early in the morning. There is a weekly BBQ which is great value for money. The location is great - quiet, but only 10 minutes walk downhill to Hersonissos - for shopping during the day and clubbing at night, or 10 minutes walk uphill to the traditional villages of Koutouloufari and Piskopiano where there are some great restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.

Having found out about the improvements that Christos had made to the apartments we decided to go back again. We were not dissapointed. The new bar is just amazing and the restaurant was fantastic. I've posted some pictures (including one of Eric on Karaoke night!) and also one from the barbeque night - some greek dancing.
Simply The Best
from ferguson80
We had booked an allocated on arrival hotel in Hersonnisos for a week in May this year, we have been to Hersonnisos 4 times previously and thought we would be staying in the main resort as we had on other occasions, however we were delighted when we drew up outside the Christos Apts, they are without a doubt one of the nicest hotels in Hersonnisos, granted it is a little outside the main resort but it is only a 10 minute walk down to the resort and for enthusiastic walkers(!) Piskopiano and Koutolofari are about a 20 minute walk uphill, however these are traditional greek villages and the food is amazing, anyway the complex was lovely and clean and the best thing of all was the staff, Christos and his wife Bellos are lovely people but Eric and Gary the Albanian brothers who run the bar and restaurant are 2 of the nicest guys you have ever met. The complex is very modern, had been recently upgraded so the bar had plasma tv's, leather seats you name it, there is a 5* restaurant above the bar so you don't need to go that far. For those that havent been to Crete, the climate is amazing we were expecting it to be a little cooler in May but it went way over 30oC so we were really happy, can't wait to get back yet again, hopefully in the spring or summer next year. For those that are going next year definitely keep and eye out for Eric and Gary.
LOVELY FAMILY RUN COMPLEX
from tlmaw
On arrival at the resort I was a little alarmed at the amount of youngsters staying there, however i needn't have worried as they were all lovely and the owner Mr Bellos ensured personally that there were no problems .All of the staff were very friendly and could not do enough to be of assistance. The apartments although only basic are very clean and the restaurant I can highly recommend. It is in an ideal position should you want the hustle and bustle of hersonissos itself or walk up the hill to the 2 lovely villages.

on arrival we were met by the owners, very nice people which carried our bags to our rooms. the hotel is clean, bright and close to all activities. the hotel is situated on a hill, about 5 mins walk from the town centre. i went with a group ranging from 18-25. the hotel in my opinion was perfect as it was close to the night life yet when you get back to the hotel, the area is quite. the bar food was good full irish every morning for something like €4 which was great. pool area was very clean. its a family run business with kids playing by the pool. the staff were great, v friendly. if i was to go back to the area i would definatly stay at this hotel. they also host a BBQ night once a week which i would advise, good food, good music and great crack. thoroughly enjoyed my stay
my family and I have just arrived home from a two week stay at the bellos apartments in crete after a very long and tiring transfer from the airport ( usually 40 minutes} we arrived at 5:40am to find a very cheerful erik waiting for us to take us to our rooms. the holiday... more
