The Days Hotel is on Carlton Street which is a short walk from the Eaton Centre (Biggest shopping centre I have ever seen!) and also from Dundas square which is possibly the true centre of Toronto. The hotel is large but well run with a very friendly staff. The restaurants are very good value and provide a good, if basic, menu. The coffee house is a great place to relax and watch the passers by in the street. If you don't mind walking the harbour front is within walking distance down Yonge Street but if you do the trams pass the hotel, there is an underground station close by and plenty of buses. We really enjoyed our time in the hotel and exploring all that Toronto has to offer (go for three weeks and you will still not see it all!) I really suggest you get a car and explore outside the city, the roads are great but signposts outside Toronto are in short supply so prepare to get lost. Must sees include the CN Tower, Harbour arts centre, the Toronto islands, Casa Lomo and the Rogers Centre to name a few. All in all it’s great!!

Holiday began at Heathrow and we were met by our Travelscope tour rep at Toronto airport - what he didn't know about the area wasn't worth knowing! He immediately told us the best places to eat, how to make the cheapest phone calls, etc.
Our hotel was relatively basic but spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely attentive and polite.
Day's hotel is right on Yonge Street and a 10 minute walk from the fabulous Eaton Centre Mall and downtown Toronto. The whole area is linked by underground passages which is a godsend if you want to go shopping but can't face temperatures of -20 C!
Travelscope had included a tour of the CN tower and a trip to Niagara Falls as part of our holiday - both were well organised and although we were bussed around it didn't actually feel like a 'coach trip' because we were given so much time to ourselves to explore. There were interesting and reasonable optional excursions everyday but unlike many tour companies there was no pressure at all to pay for extra outings.
The one I must recommend was the day out sledging with huskies at the Winterdance centre in Haliburton. Following snow shoe walking and a hearty lunch in a huge teepee, we had an afternoon with our own dog team of 5 and set off in a train with the others in our tour who braved the elements! Hank and his Winterdance family gave us a day we will remember forever!
The only down side to our holiday was the return trip - nobody likes coming home after a great holiday but the staff at Air Canada were positively rude! Despite the fact our plane was delayed, no info was given and all passengers were told to 'sit down until they were told to move'.
All this considered, Toronto was a great place to holiday and whilst I feel I've seen the city, I can't wait to return to Canada and see some more of the beautiful country.
