Lena Apartments

the lena apartments are very well situated and our apa rtment was very roomy. Our only complaints were the state of the actual furniture and the very low standard of cleanliness

ive been to creete for years , and around the the world but nothing compares to this place this is a great place to relax and a safe enviroment to bring children , they are a wonderful family run place and i would recomend it to anyone. they are the best......i love them all...thanks for the best holiday so many laughs eh lena?? oh it was the best.

We had a great time at the Lena for two weeks, July/August. Quiet family holiday, fab location, fab views. Not for people wanting a lively nightlife etc. Some bars with music/dancing and one or two discos. Retaurants etc are all excellent and family friendly - great cuisine; good prices. Meal for 4, including wine/drinks and deserts for about 50 euros (and you won't go hungry!). Lena apartments let you get on with your holiday in peace with great views across mountains to the back or sea to the front. Good sized rooms. Good pine beds with orthopaedic matresses in our room, and convertible sofa bed in a separate section for daughter. Very clean-thorough cleaning 3 times every week with new towels 3-4 times. Fridge; small cooker; kettle. Good sized balconies - enough room for eating and inviting friends for drinks. Quiet location - watched shooting stars every evening and drank wine at the end of each day. Good local and familiar food available at reasonable prices at the bar. Great beaches within yards - nearly always bedchairs/umbrellas available. Small pool, but nice size, big enough to get some exercise, and with a small shallow section. Our daughter (10) loved it.
Beach is just across the road.
Air conditioning a bit pricey we thought - about 7 euros a day - however, we never used it since there was always a nice breeze at night...

On our 6th trip to Crete we are used to and are very happy with basic accommodation, but the Lena unfortunately has been the poorest.
Rooms cleaned and linen/towel changed twice weekly as are the loo paper bins which are tiny and subsequently overflow if you don’t empty them yourself daily, and the 4 rooms I saw where grubby and ours was ant infested.
The owner woke us early 1 morning to ask us to move our car to a different area and then we were told by the owners son to move it back this went on for almost a week until it became very annoying and we parked at next doors hotel (with their permission) to avoid the hostility.
We were also challenged by for leaving our bathroom light on every day?! If we did it was because the electric was more frequently off on a morning than on, and I didn’t know whether they were on or off, I still wonder how they knew the light was on every day when there were no windows in the bathroom and the maid, as I said only came twice a week!?
Oh and if you do stay at the Lena stock up on loo roll as it is not provided, I found this out whilst my hubby was caught short and I asked the owner for some and was told buy your own from the supermarket.
Silly things really let it down, sockets hanging out of walls, kettles that don’t switch off and boil dry if you don’t watch them, dirty pans in the cupboards, boarded up holes in the walls and just no atmosphere or mixing in the bar.
Elounda is a lovely place but I wouldn’t stay here again.
