A fantastic holiday
from sueandcol
We have just arrived back from these lovely apartments in Gouves. The family that run them Minas and Minya are the most friendliest people. They make you feel like one of the family. Sarah Minas s girlfriend is lovely and has just joined the family to live. There are lots of lovely restaurants but you must try Antholovi. Poppy is the loveliest host and the food is very good and very cheap. But the people that stayed there while we were there made our holiday. It is a small friendly apartment block and everyone was very friendly. Hi to Noel and Mel he was so funny. Jeanette and Murray from Edinburgh were the most genuine people ever and Alan and Angela were lovely too. They even waited up until 3am with Minas and Sarah this morning to wave us off. Hi also to Tony Diand and Jake from Crewe they were a lovely family who keep going back to the Andreas apartments which speaks for itself. Also go to Medusa restaurant and see Antonio, hes nuts but great. See you all again soon Feel so chilled Sue and Colin Tina and Gary

Felt there was just a most friendly atmosphere in this family run complex. Lots of lovely couples. Nothing was too much trouble for staff. Apartment cleaned every day. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Snack bar food was delicious. Stayed up until the early hours of the morning socialising, didn't feel rushed. The BBQ was lovely and everyone just chatted away to each other. Would definitely go back to the Andreas.
An oasis of tranquility and calm

We loved the Andreas Apartments - they were basic but comfortable and provided everything you could need for a peaceful holiday in Gouves. Minas - who runs the apartments - was so friendly and could not do enough for us. We used the small beach, literally a minute from the hotel, because it was less crowded than the others closer to town but we also spent a few days by the pool in the hotel which was very clean and the atmosphere was very friendly. I travelled to Gouves with two girlfriends from university and we are all twenty. We were looking for a quiet, relaxed holiday away from the hectic party resorts like Malia. We definitely got that in Gouves, although the other people in the hotel seemed to be questioning our motives to begin with! No, not all young people want to go clubbing, yes we can be peaceful and just enjoy each others company! Definitely sample some of Minas' cocktails - they are fabulous! - and definitely go to Knossos (but make your own way there because we did it for a lot cheaper on our own than Thomas Cook were offering and students get in free!) This is a great place and a charming hotel - definitely worth a look :-)

We are just back from these studios and they really do live up to their reputation. From the moment we arrived we felt very comfortable. There are many good places to eat nearby, including Oasis and Medusa, our favourites. We didn't have a bad meal anywhere. The snacks at Andreas are good and very reasonable as are the drinks. The BBQ on Sunday evenings was excellent, we went both Sundays as the food was so good. We found the beach just over the road fine and a few sunbeds and umbrellas apeared on it a few days after we arrived at 6euros per day. We used local buses to get around and went to Knossos that way saving ourselves a lot of money. All in all an excellent holiday.
Heaven on earth.

Stayed at Andreas in May 2008,and i wouldn't hesitate at staying here again[although not begging of may..too quiet].Apartments are basic but very good by greek standards, cleaned everyday and everything you need for s/c holiday.Minas and Minya excellent hosts, very welcoming, even if you arrive in the middle of the night as we did.The pool is very clean and inviting on those hot days, and they have a little snack bar where Minya does the nicest greek salad ever. These apartments are qiete and relaxing,so if it's a lively holiday your after i would say Gouves isn't for you, although Stalis,Malia and Hersonossos are only a short bus ride away for more lively nights. All in all i had a really nice and relaxing time at the Andreas apartments and hopefully will be going back some time soon.Any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Also my son had his 12th birthday whilst we were there and Minya went out and brought him the most wonderful cake,a really nice touch i thought.
A Extra-Special Oasis

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Andreas Appts., Gouves & can only reiterate the postive comments of previous reviewers. This accommodation is something special - the standard far above normal Greek appartments. Set within an enclave, away from the brash main street of Gouves, Andreas is within a few minutes walk of seven+ excellent tavernas, two 'supermarkets' & a bakery. Our hosts, Minas & Mania (bro/sis) were friendly, helpful & went that extra distance to ensure a pleasant stay.... A library of p/backs(100+) has accumulated within the bar area so considering weight/flight restrictions - utilise.... A slight downside is the immediate coastal area - very spartan/unkempt /somewhat dirty & featureless ...but the two beach areas, although small, are well maintained & provide sunbeds at a price.... In conclusion, superb accommodation situated within a less than desirable resort. Tony D.
Wonderful holiday

I stayed at the Andreas apartments in 2005, long before I knew about Trip Advisor. I would recommend the Andreas apartments as an excellant place to stay. There is a very welcoming, friendly atmosphere and all the family are very helpful. The apartments are basic but clean and spacious. I was staying there alone and I was made to feel very welcome by Minas and Mania and all the family. I am now living in Gouves but would recommend The Andreas apartments not only to singles but to families with young children and couples. Andreas is situated in a quiet part of Gouves away from the main street and the bars but if you want a bit of nightlife, then the Bar in the evening is the place to be. The pool is clean and very popular and there was no "sunbed problem" when I stayed there. Lovely beach within yards of the hotel, a few tourist shops and a bakery and car rental. Andreas has a snack bar which is excellant during the day but for a more substantial meal, try one of the reataurants in the area, Milos or Scorpios, next door. Gouves centre is quite a walk but a very pleasant one and on the main street, you will find the usual tourist shops, bars and tavernas and 3 supermakets. There is also a photographers, 2 Chinese restaurants and car and bike rental. but I would think very seriously about hiring a bike, moped or quad bike as it can be very dangerous on Cretan roads. Buses run frequently (from the National Highway) to Hersonissos the nearby large resort and to Heraklion, the capital city of Crete and other parts of the island.. Buses are cheap and very comfortable. Altogether, I had an excellant holiday and would recommend the Andreas apartments very highly to everyone.

Our 3rd time in these apartments, and it gets better everytime we stay. We love the location, short walk to the beach and good restaurants. Friendly family atmosphere, Minas and Moya are just great, always a smile and a joke and very helpfull, snacks are really good, cocktails are a must try and Red Passions are our favourite. Rooms are basic, but not as basic as other apartments that we have stayed in in Crete previously, clean and most have a sea view. Bar has small internet area 2 PC's with coin meter which I found fairly cheap. Try a walk along the sea front in the evening, especially recommended for couples and budding photographers, the sunsets are breath taking. The pool is clean and well maintained, worth mentioning though that there is no lifeguard on duty, so extra care should be taken if you have young children. I would highly recommended Andreas Apartments for a couple or family looking for a peaceful, relaxing break.
What A Fabulous Place

If you want a fantastic, relaxing holiday in a great place then go to Gouves and stay at Andreas Apartments. Small & family run with only about 14 apartments. Lovely quiet pool and small bar area serving snacks. Very friendly & welcoming owners. In a very quiet part of Gouves, overlooks beach and a nice 20 minute walk to gouves town which is a little livelier with some bars and shops. Plenty of restaurants to chose from within 5 minute walk. We hired a car for 3 days and did a tour of the Island, so much to see & do. Also went on a jeep safari excursion, there were 2 jeeps and 8 people in each. What an experience, was a bit unsure at first as with people we didnt know but the local guide/driver was fantastic, great funny character and as it was a day trip everyone got to know each other after a while. Travelled up mountain dirt roads to parts of the island that you would never see. Fantastic views of island, had a stop off for lunch and at end of the day brought us to a great beach. Gouves is a great place and Andreas Apartments perfect.

Booked a last minute deal here, and were SO glad we did. The apartments are a two minute walk from the beach and local amenities and yet in a very quiet area of the resort. Basic but attractive and very welcoming, the room did everything we wanted it to and was a perfect... more
