Returned from a two week stay at the Andreas Villa in May.
Accomodation was basic but adequate. Alway clean.
You can get 'snacks' such as Pizza and various salads, even a full English breakfast, any time of the day. And the home-made chips are to die for - just like mum used to make!
Minas and Minar (brother and sister) who run the place are brilliant! Can't do enough for you. It turned cold for a couple of days whilst we were there and they immediately went out and bought huge outdoor type heater to keep us all comfortable.
The whole family are great. Mum and Dad visit the place almost every day and add to the family atmosphere.
However... Gouves as a resort is about as exciting as Morcambe (sorry Morcambe) during a wet October. Nothing to see, nothing much to do. One street of shops and that's about your lot. If you're looking for real peace and quiet this is the place for you. If you looking for something that registers on the 'Alive Scale' avoid at all costs.
Would I go back? Yes I would, for a short break at the aprtaments. Can't praise the family enough.
I think the mistake I made was not hiring a car and using Gouves as a base to explore the island.(Never driven on that side of the road and the roads are slightly mental!!) Now that would have beena holiday

Just what we needed at the time--we wanted somewhere to chill out for a week but not have a boring spot.
This is the place-you are welcomed as part of the family, nothing is too much trouble and if you want to sit quietly ypu can if you want to party you can-its practically idillic.
Great location for the town and beach with great taverna's nearby if you decide to leave the Andreas bar area.

Just back after 2 weeks in the Andreas apartments in Gouves and we had a brilliant time. The hosts Manya and Minas could not have been more helpful or friendly. The apartments were spacious and cleaned to perfection each day by their lovely staff(Alketa and Antonia)They have a snack bar and everything is beautiful as it is freshly cooked and good value. The pool is cleaned daily and the people in the apartments were very friendly.Hello to Tim,Sue and Carl. There are a host of brilliant restaurants within 200 metres and the beach is a two minute stroll away.By far our best holiday and the barbecque on a Sunday night is great fun and value. If you want friendly service, value, cleanliness,a nice sandy beach, and excellent food this is the place to go.It is the in place for a quiet, relaxing time and we cannot wait to return.

a very pleasant oasis in a dusty part of this resort. The rooms are spacious and well provided, the gardens a delight of colour and the swimming pool ultra clean and well used. There is a cafe area and snacks available until late as well as a well-stocked bar. There are a number of good restaurants nearby serving local food, the best being Medusa. There is a beach, but nothing fancy. Excellent if you want a relaxing holiday or as a centre for hire car sightseeing. But what makes it No. 1 for us is the friendly service afforded by Minas and his sister Mania. For them it seems, nothing is too much for their guests.

Just arrieved back from a fantasic holiday in Andres Appartment's Gouves Crete,Minas and Moyna run the appartments and are great, nothing too much trouble, the complex is small made up of two blocks and withen a couple of day's everybody knows each other, again the pool is small but big enough to cater for everyone and no pronlem getting sunloungers. The beach is a one minute walk away and is very safe and sandy,in the imidate area there are several bar's and restaurants. For a bigger selection the town of Gouves is about 20 minutes walk away,O'Connors Bar is the first bar on the right where George will look after your every need,Booze Bar another great bar plus many more,A regular local bus service will brin you to the neighbouring resorts and is very cheap,Overall a great place to holiday.

Booked a last minute deal here, and were SO glad we did. The apartments are a two minute walk from the beach and local amenities and yet in a very quiet area of the resort.
Basic but attractive and very welcoming, the room did everything we wanted it to and was a perfect base after a hard days relaxing by the pool.
Outside, Andreas offers a glorious garden replete with sunloungers, a pool and a homely bar and restaurant area where everything from a full english to pizza is served, by way of homemade chips and hefty sandwiches.
Gouves is quiet, very chilled and perfect if you're looking for a chilled out holiday - there is an excellent array of taverna and restaurants offering traditional Greek fare and English food, all washed down with ouzo and raki, often on the house as an aperitif.
The beach is gorgeous, large and never overly crowded, and there is plenty to see and do, with Heraklion and Knossos for the culturally minded, or Hersonissos or Malia for the party goers, all within 30 minutes of the reliable bus route.
I cannot recommend the hotel or the resort enough, and I am already planning my next visit. A huge thank you to the wonderful hospitality of our host Minas, who waited til 2am just to wave us off and thank us - that's proper service!
