" Dissapointed "

We tried to book for Xmas and new year but were informed that they would not be opening untill the 28th Dec due to refurbishmentnot finishing untill the 27th so we just took that week over the new year period
we asked about the Gala dinner advertised as some friends were joining us for new years eve therefore we would be 8 adults and one 3 year old child the price was 210 euro for guests of the Hotel & 225euro non guests this totaled to 1740.00 euro and they wanted another 50% for children we explained that my grandaughter was only 3 and would not be eating or would have some of ours as 105 euro or £105 as the exchange rate was at that time was parity we thought that was a little heavy to pay for a child and told them so they then informed us that the child would not be allowed to enter the dining room to eat with us as they had laid on a cresh with a buffet for all children no thank you we said you can stick your gala dinner and we will spend our money somewhere else that would certainly not cost as much and would be allowed to spend new year in the company of our Grandchild therefore childfriendly is not a word this hotel understands Drinks were a Rip off, for a small bottle of beer £3.70p and a bottle of water in your room 8euro which equalled £8 and for spirits , you dont want to know !in there Bar 45 euro one drink each for 6 people and 4 were soft drinks
The next mornimg at 6.30am the banging starts I stood it for 30mins then phoned to reception to ask what was this banging ? we have no building work on sir was the reply but I will send security up to find out what the noise is 30min later, and the banging is continuing, up I get and off to reception where they had been receiving phone calls of complaints from other guests whilst I waited to speak
I spoke to the person that I had spoken to when I phoned down he said the management would arrive at 10.30 and could I take it up with him as the Contractors were not supposed to start the renovation work untill 9am and continue to 9pm as there was refurbishment work that WAS in progress,
I asked for my room and my Daughters to be moved and was informed that this would not solve the problem as they were doing the complete 9th floor and the noise would be heard which ever room we went to but in future we would only have the banging between 9am and 9pm we were on the third floor so you can tell how loud it was for us to still hear it
We will never return to this hotel they are not child friendly and the Reception staff are Rubbish just try fob you off
The Best part was breakfast ,where the staff were very friendly also to children !!

Advice: Dont bother there are better places out there

Activities: Don Alfonso - Thai Restaraunt Il Trio

" We went for a week at the end of May,... "

We went for a week at the end of May, didn’t see any building work in the hotel although read some floors had been refurbished and the remainder are to be done in December, they were building a new Spa next too the pool which was a bit noisy at times, we were disappointed they didn’t tell us about the Spa being closed or the building work.
Although probably the ugliest building in Vilamoura and the largest around the Marina its easily the best location, we were originally on the top/ninth floor. All rooms have a balcony, with fantastic views either over the marina on one side or the pool and beach beyond from the other side.

Please INSIST on the newly refurbished rooms (upgraded they call them) as they have there own independent air conditioning/heating instead of the shared ventilation system we experienced on the ninth floor for the first couple of nights, after having a young baby screaming & parent coughing half the night in the next room it honestly did sound like they were in the wall ventilation grill, the next morning we asked politely to be moved but they insisted on 400 euros for the interlinked upgraded rooms and the Manager wouldn’t talk to us, she just sent a message through reception saying it wasn’t the hotels fault the baby cried…charming!, After asking our Holiday company to move us to another hotel, this hotel then offered the refurbished rooms at 200 euros and then eventually for free. Anyway the new rooms on the sixth floor were just refurbished and they were gorgeous, the beds were fantastic, the rooms were decorated really nicely in a modern style, although very odd glass doors on the bathrooms which don’t lock or even close properly. Quite a lot less storage, we were very relieved to see they had changed the air conditioning system to stop the noise travel. The mini bar prices were the same as the hotel bars and restaurants predictably about double everywhere else, The buffet breakfast was the best we have seen anywhere. Gorgeous outdoor pool although strangely very deep and very cold while we were there, the indoor pool was ok, again quite deep and a bit dark but handy for non-sunny days. The garden with toddlers paddling pool, putting green, stream with paths/bridges, bar, towel hut, kids play area, so many sun beds which were never all full was all great, massive beach about 50 metres from the hotel, amazing how many people you speak too don’t think there is a beach in Vilamoura! We did try one of the hotel restaurants for 1 evening meal which was ok but decided not to bother again, someone said there are 160 restaurants in Vilamoura to choose from, we found I’ll Trio and Fisherman’s Shack the best as the owners were running them, the much hyped and very smart looking Mayflower on the Marina were so busy trying to cram more people in they seemed to forget about the customers already waiting so not recommended.
All in all we had a great week and definitely recommend the hotel but not the arrogant management who with regret need to be reminded who is paying and who is being paid.
Score should be 10 out of 10 but less 2 for management, less 2 for building work by pool, less 2 for closed spa so only 4/10 for our week.

" We have just returned from our first... "

We have just returned from our first ever holiday in Portugal, we usually holiday in Spain or European Cities.

I can't begin to tell you how impressed we were with both Vilamoura and surrounding area, but also the Tivoli Marionotel.

We booked this hotel for a short break for our honeymoon (4 nights). From the moment we arrived the staff were polite, smartly dressed and courteous, they simply could not do enough for you.

The room was very clean and well maintained. Our room had a view overlooking the marina which was absolutely stunning, particularly in the evening.

Breakfast was a feast; there was everything from fresh salmon and cheese to cakes as well as the usual British fry-up. The indoor pool was a treat, again as clean as a whistle.

We enjoyed walking through the gardens after our breakfast and on a couple of occasions playing a quick game of giant draughts or chess.

We would recommend hiring bicycles to look around the area. There are pathways that run alongside the seafront and those that lead you into the rural area that surrounds Vilamoura itself.

I suppose it's best just to be daring and see where the path takes you, we did!

Although we booked out of season, we were very lucky with the weather and were able to chill out on the beach, which was virtually empty, eating bread, cheese and strawberries.

We were also impressed with the local people who were very friendly. Looking back, I cannot remember seeing one piece of litter the whole time we were there.

We are definitely going to holiday there again and if our bank account allows it, stay at the Tivoli Marionotel; well worth paying a little extra for.

" What a wonderful Hotel. This is... "

What a wonderful Hotel. This is definitely a five star luxury hotel, the rooms are wonderful. The bathroom is clean and big the furniture of the room needed updating.

The hotel itself is located in one of the finest locations in the Algarve, you are spoilt for choice on a view of the ocean/beach or the marina. The marina is spectacular, you have over 300 boats moored up, and what amazing boats, you can spend hours just sitting in your balcony watching the view of the marina. In the evenings just take a stroll out to the marina and you have almost 3/4 mile of restaurants bars and shops, catering for all tastes, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai and good old English pub grub. But the downside is that the marina does get quite noisy as there are quite a few Karaoke bars, and I did have difficulty getting to sleep.

The hotel staff are fantastic, can’t compliment them enough, the breakfast is a great spread. The hotel has quite a few restaurants of its own, and bars but they are pricey, but then it is a five star hotel.

If you are over 50 years old its a great place as there are quite a few of the older generation which is a good thing.

On the negative side, the air conditioning didn’t work for the week, and the baby pool was not maintaining perfectly as there were frogs in there. The pool water was very cold (as it wasn’t heated).

" This hotel is excellent. With 3 warm... "

This hotel is excellent. With 3 warm pools (one is indoor) it will really make your stay enjoyable. It has a games room, a bar with a band, a lovely reception and 9 floors. The staff are very pleasant and kind.

This hotel is on a marina so going bed and breakfast doesn’t mean long walks or drives to find a decent restaurant as there are hundreds of them all within half a mile. The hotel is excellent for kids with loads of amusements.

This is such a good hotel I am going here for my 4th time this year.

" We are going to this hotel again this... "

We are going to this hotel again this month, which will be the fourth visit but are taking our daughter, son-in-law and their family with us this time. The Marinotel has everything you could possibly wish for and the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you. Everything is superb and we have had wonderful holidays there.

There are always lots of children there but so much space that there is room for everyone - one can either sit under the palm trees or by the pool and you do not have anyone putting "towels on seats".

We would recommend this hotel to young and old as they cater for everyone.

The Marina is quiet during the day but at night everything comes to life and it is very entertaining and the restaurants are very reasonable and the food is good.
