We stayed at the Bahamas last year and are booked in to return again this year. The whole family are so welcoming but the rooms are basic but very clean so if you're looking for 5-star luxury this isn't the place for you! But it's ideally situated just 5 minutes walk from... more

First time to Kos and was overwhelmed by the friendliness of the family, they made us feel like part of the family as soon as we arrived (00.15 and we still partied!). Mama, Papa George, Billy, Costas and of course Proud Mary! (Karaoke queen and pool table dancer... more

What a lovely family run hotel in the Thomson’s (small and friendly) selection. It definitely did what it said on the tin. Kos town is ideal for those who like the hustle and bustle, just not on the doorstep. The rooms were very basic however this did not cause any... more

Perfect for all kinds of holidays
A steady 15 minutes stroll to the beach/shops/harbour or just lounge around the good sized pool. The sunbeds are free and padded cushions only 1 euro per day. Very reasonably priced drinks and a nice selection of snacks made by Mamma from the pool bar. The rooms are simple Greek style but spotless with a small fridge and optional air-con. Also two mugs but no rings so you'll need your kettles. We stayed in one of the rooms above the Bar facing the road which don't get direct sun so we didn't need the air-con despite 29 degrees last week. There were some vocal animals locally (and in the lounge) but with only the odd vehicle during the night we slept with one of the sliding doors open every night or should I say morning as we never got to bed before midnight. Breakfast is simple buffet style, cereals, fruit, bread/toast, cheese, ham (cake some mornings) and as much tea, coffee and weak orange juice as you can drink and if you need more you can get a full English from the pool bar for 6 euros. No doubt about it the hub of the hotel was the bar/lounge. Three tv's and again very reasonably priced drinks and well used by most of the English Guests (many of who are multiple visitors) Nothing was too much trouble for the Sons Bill and Kostas who'd just installed John Smiths Smooth last week which went down a treat. And then there was Mad Mary behind the bar. She had everybody clapping and joining in the Greek Dancing during the BBQ and the bingo and karaoki nights were a scream. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable week and I'd have no hesitation to return or recommend The Bahamas to anyone of all ages.
Fabulous family run hotel
We checked the reviews on tripadvisor before booking a weeks stay at the Bahamas through Thomsons and we were not disappointed. The hotel is clean and basic, the pool area was very nice with no problems finding a sun lounger. The real selling point for the hotel, as all the reviews mention, is the family who runs it, they are very welcoming and extremely friendly, the friendliness is contagious and you find yourself recognising and greeting other hotel guests when around Kos town. Billy and Costas who run the hotel bar in the evening will stay open as long as you like but are very conscious of other guests, so if you do want an early night you will not be bothered by any noise. If you do go and they hold an evening of entertainment but sure to go, on the nights we were there all ages were joining in and had a fantastic time. i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
Thanks to all
Small family run hotel as the reports say. All the family are very helpful and the sons Costas and Billy help with everything they can. Extremely clean and friendly. Mary is life and soul of the bar area. If you want a fairly central hotel which allows you access easily to the rest of the island with a friendly family atmosphere at reasonable prices then this is a good place to go. You will always get the moaners who are looking for something that they are not willing to pay for and that is life. However what they have to moan about is really beyond me. My best regards to all the family - I hope they keep in touch.
Basic, but great
Just returned from 2 fantastic weeks at the Bahamas. The facilities are a little basic, but the welcome more than makes up for this! The hotel is run by the whole family - everyone is made to feel as if they are house guests rather than clients. Rooms are adequate - all you'd really need, and the whole hotel is kept extremely clean. We had some great nights in the bar, but if you fancy an early night, it's not so loud that it would disturb you.
A little gem
Fantastic small hotel run by friendly Greek family who work so hard to make your holiday perfect. You’re made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive until the time you have, sadly, to go. The rooms are simple but quite spacious and have everything you need: hairdryer, fridge, comfy beds, plenty of storage space, completely private and peaceful balcony and a shower curtain that fits so no wet, slippery floors. Everything in the room worked even though it was almost the end of the season. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day except Sunday and linen is changed regularly. Aircon is available at 40 euros a week and this was a boon, even at the end of September. The pool is larger than we expected with plenty of sunbeds in sun or shade, as you prefer. The pool area is peaceful and nicely planted with palm trees and flowering shrubs, giving a relaxed atmosphere. The pool bar is manned from breakfast time till evening and sells food and drink at very competitive prices. The pool, as with everything else at this hotel, is immaculately clean. The entertainment evenings are very popular and prices at the bar very reasonable. If you like football, you’ll love the big screens there. The included breakfast was more than adequate and alongside the usual bread, cheese, ham and jam we had fresh, ripe watermelon, something we didn’t expect. The hotel’s location is excellent – a 10 minute walk to the scenic harbour and lovely and interesting town centre and about 15 to a sand/pebble beach with sunbeds, tavernas and bars and a great view of the harbour and Turkey. The area around the hotel is quiet and although other hotels are being built in this area, we were never disturbed by building site noise. There are a few supermarkets and small restaurants nearby. It’s a very friendly hotel and if you like meeting people it’s perfect, but if you just want to get away from it all and relax, you’ll have a good time too. You feel welcome, safe and looked after. We had a wonderful fortnight there and would recommend the Bahamas to everyone.
fantastic holiday
The Bahamas hotel really is a lovely place to stay, i can not fault any part of the hotel and the family that run it are the nicest people you could hope for. we stayed their for 2 weeks and Billy and Costas the owners made us feel so welcome that we didnt want to leave. the age of the guest was varied but i would say it is ideal for couples and small groups. the bbq and kareoke night is a good laugh especially when you hear mary sing (you will know what i mean) they will keep the bar open for as long as you want it open but still remain respectful to other guest who prefer a early night by keeping the noise low. overall i would say you are very lucky to be staying at a wonderful hotel with wonderful hosts. thanks Billy and Costas for a really great time x x x x x Tracey and James
Brilliant!
I stayed in the Bahamas for a week in September with my boyfriend. From the very first day, we were made to feel so welcome by the family, especially Billy and Kostas, who are on first name terms with all of the guests and go out of there way to make sure you're holiday is all you could have wanted and more. The hotel is in a great location, about a 10-15 minute walk form the harbour. The hotel arranged great entertainment nights - the greek night/kareoke night will forever be etched in my mind! What a scream! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone of any age. Fantastic!
Aboslutley Beautiful Hotel!!

friendly family run hotel
The Bahamas hotel is located a short walk from all the bars and restaurants of Kos Town. It's location is very quiet and peaceful. The Greek family that run the Bahamas are especially friendly and helpful. Jimmy and Kostas run the bar with Mad Mary running entertainment. We were treated very much as family guests and the entire family waved us off on our return coach to the airport !
