Ourania Studios

We have just returned from Petra - seven of us including our three grandchildren - all staying at the Ourania Studios. It is hard to fault the Studios, Christos or Ourania. We had a wonderful holiday. It was our third time to Petra, but the first to Ourania Studios. No hesitation in returning. It was lovely and quite. Most of the time it felt like we had a private villa as we were often the only people in the pool.
The food was excellent, much of it from Christos' own farm.
All in all excellent value for money.

My partner and I have just returned from Petra staying at the Ourania Studios and I have to say what a great 2 weeks we have had.
The apartments were lovely having just been refurbished they were clean and bright. They were basic you got just enough cutlery and pans for two people, there was a kettle, two cooking rings and a new fridge in the kitchen area.
Plenty of room to move around if you wanted to stay in the apt for any reason, but when you see the location and views staying indoors wasn’t an option.
The taverna was wonderful both Christos and Ourania were wonderful cooks and very friendly people. The pool was wonderful as the temp soared during our stay and very quiet.
No worries about getting a sunbed as there were more than enough to go round, new sunbeds and sun umbrellas and the newly added water feature, which was built while we were there made it look very pretty indeed.
Petra itself is very charming, walk around the cobbled streets and you see the old people sitting on doorsteps chatting as the evening cools the air, fishermen mending nets and the goats and sheep in the fields with the bells jangling around their necks.
Not a place to go if you are wanting loud music filled evenings, the laidback feel to the place draws you in as you watch the sunset sitting in the Cantina drinking a cold beer or cocktail.
We would recommend both the resort and the apartments to anyone and are in fact going to book to go back to the Ourania next year, we liked it so much.

Myself and my partner have just returned from the Ourania Apartments and have had wonderful time.
Yes, they are basic but offer very good value for money. The views from the apartments are breathtaking. Most days it was just us by the pool, so there isn’t a frantic need to 'bag' a bed.
Petra itself is fairly unspoiled and I hope it remains that way. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Our first visit to Lesvos, and we loved it. The Ourania Studios were wonderful - the studios may be basic, and could do with some renovation, but our studio was kept clean and the view from our balcony made up for any shortcomings.
Christos and family work extremely hard; I found them friendly and helpful. Travelling as a single parent with my 8-year old son, they could not have been kinder. The on-site taverna is excellent - some of the best food we had, and at very reasonable prices. I would recommend the Ourania, and hope to revisit soon.

Agree with others that the pool and taverna are fantastic - it was a pity about the lack of welcome on the first and return visits to the taverna (with friends who were staying elsewhere in Petra).
Thought that the apartments themselves, although liked their location, were badly maintained and in need of some renovation.
However they were kept clean enough and we have stayed in worse! Would certainly go back to Petra, this was our second visit to Lesbos, but find alternative accommodation. It hasn't put us off Greece, we love it.
Perhaps the owners were suffering from end of season "blues", but most of the other guests made similar comments to these.

We have just returned from our 1st visit to petra and stayed at the ourania studios.
The pool was lovely and the food in the Taverna was very good and it stops there, the family were the most miserable and downright rude Greeks we have ever met.
With regard to the accommodation, it was the most poorly equipped we've ever stayed in in Greece, the toilet cistern dripped and hissed the whole time, and cleanliness seemed to have evaded them completely, I could fill up a whole page but you get the picture, there’s basic but this place was complete rubbish.
Most of the other guests I spoke to were of the same opinion, because at first we thought it was just us. Not surprisingly we won’t be returning there.
Petra itself was very nice with good beach and excellent restaurants with friendly staff.

My wife and I have just returned from our third stay at the Ourania studios in Petra and we are ready to return again.
The apartments are simple yes but very comfortable and they are cleaned daily. The pool on site is excellent with more than adequate sun beds and sun shades, no need to get up at dawn to drape a towel over your favourite bed.
The Taverna serves top quality food at reasonable prices and the beers are the coldest on the island. Christos and his family will do anything in their power to give you a good holiday, Take my advice Go and enjoy, We Did.

This is our second time at Ourania and can hardly agree that the family is miserable.
Christos has a very loud voice, but he is a fantastically hard working farmer and restaurateur.
The apartments could do with a refurbishment but the pool and restaurant area are spotlessly clean and the food is wonderful. Try and get into the taverna on a Saturday night after about 20.30!!
I have been out with the two of them milking sheep at 06.30 and much of the food you eat is grown by them, including the lamb.
If you like simple, wholesome Greece, this is the place.
The island is a great place to visit, with low key tourism.
You must hire a car and explore.
