What a fantastic hotel
We've just come back from our stay at the SCC & what a great time we had! We only booked two weeks before we went & were initially nervous as the hotel had only just reopened & there were no traveller reviews to be found anywhere. However, we had no need to worry. The hotel is set in the most beautiful grounds overlooking the sea. It was quiet, peaceful & totally relaxing. You may even see monkeys stealing mangoes off the trees at sunrise / sunset! We were one of only about 4 rooms filled (2 of these were business people so... more
It was amazing!
We booked our holiday to Barbados 2 weeks before we went and on a very tight budget, selected the Sugar Cane Club as our accomadation. We then read some reviews on the internet and attepted to cancel due to the (now unfounded) horrible comments about the place. It was so beautiful and peaceful, like a private villa with pool and maid service. Yes the rooms are basic but who goes to Barbados to sit indoors?! Besides they would rival a numerous amount of 5 star hotels weve stayed in for comfort. Plus it was so nice not to be hasseled by... more
Good hotel but rooms basic
We got a great deal for this holiday with Kuoni – a lot cheaper than any other holiday to Barbados and had heard a lot of good reports about the island so jumped at the chance to go. We knew the hotel was going to be basic but the room was pretty awful but you get what you pay for. Anyway by the end of the week we loved it and would stay there again. I wouldn’t recommend the food at the hotel but if you do have it order well in advance. That’s the great thing when you haven’t spent a fortune on accommodation you can spend... more
A regular home from home
We first visited the Sugar Cane Club many years ago. I was in the armed forces with a lad from Barbados but could never afford to visit the island until after he had died. We wanted to meet his family and his wife suggested we get as far North on the island as we could. That put us in the Sugar Cane Club. We fell in love with the place immediately. The calm, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, the cosy chalets. We have been back every year but one since, nine times in all. As a 'thank you' to Delia and her staff, I have recently put... more
Dreadful
Stay - September 2003. Room awful, dirty, smelly, furnishings old and very tatty! Bathroom a health hazard - so much so we took to the bushes. Only had one meal - dreadful. Cried for 36 hours until we were moved to another hotel. Recieved compensation from the tour operator.
Oh my god.....
.... what an amazing place! Perfect scenery, fantastic room, wonderfully friendly staff... what more can I say? My friend Kate and I had a fantastic 8 days... lazing by the pool, drinking beer... what more could anyone ask for? The rooms are basic, but kept clean daily. Towels and sheets are changed every other day. Cooking facilities are good, but if you don't want to cook, food is served in the hotel restaurant/bar. Each kitchenette also has a fridge/freezer and all cutlery/crockery/glassware needed. The pool has an amazing view over... more
cheap cheerfull and perfect!
Visit: 3rd September 2001, Honeymoon We chose Sugar Cane Club as it appeared cheaper than all the rest. We had no high expectations as it was room only. It is very much out of the way in regards to location, but we loved it like that. We explored the island, car hire was essential but cheap. It was clean and the pool was just right. We had a location with gorgeous grounds, peaceful, no larger louts and we would go back any day. Barbados is brilliant, Sugar Cane will stay in our minds forever.
staying at the Sugar Cane Club
We love the place, will be there next year as we have for the past four. Its grounds are well maintained, the pool is as good if not better than many rival hotels, the accommodation is somewhat basic but comfortable and clean (what do you expect at these prices) The visiting families of monkey are a site to behold as are the various species of birds that fly to and fro. Manager Mrs Webster and her staff are so helpful and friendly, nothings to much trouble for them. If you want a quiet relaxing holiday try this place, but don't tell to many of... more
Lovely, relaxed hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed at the lovely Sugar Cane Club for 10 days in 2001. We arrived 2 days after September 11th and had to call the hotel to change our reservations. The staff was fantastic. Not only did they allow us to extend our stay - the manager offered us a discounted rate for the extra 3 days. The chalets are simple but well-kept and the grounds are stunning. It is off the beaten path but we found it to be less touristy than beach front hotels. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation and we would highly recommend staying at the Sugar... more
Difficult to categorise !
We stayed at the Sugar Cane Club for two weeks in June 2002, and can honestly say that it was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The location is WAY out of the way of everything, meaning that unless you were prepared to hire a car or get taxis, you were stuck miles from any real amenities. EVEN WORSE is that the food at the "restaurant" is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Still a very inexpensive trip, so long as you do not mind travelling to get anywhere. The positive side of this place is that the grounds are very well kept, and the room... more
