Olympus Aparthotel

Very basic and tired, really needs updating to a equal the 4 stars it advertises, we would give it a 2+ star. Breakfast is ropey but edible, staff and cleaners are courteous and the grounds are well kept. This is a no frills apartment hotel, so if you want to cook there is a relatively workable kitchen. Never had a problem with hot water, and when we came back from golf everything was cleaned with fresh towels. The up or down side depending on how you look at it, there are bars and restaurants on the ground level, all vary in trade and distinction, outstanding quality and value is the Fishermans Shack and the bar at the opposite end of the hotel called Pure, best barmaid and drink prices by miles. Middle range is the Indian restaurant and the portuguese tavern, neither were to our liking but one mans poison is another mans pleasure! Talking of pleasure, there is also a gentlemans club called Cats. Our avoid was Lizzys bar, they offered a buy 2 get one free, but the free never appeared and they came up with every excuse in the book for that, rip us off once and we never return, it was also the noisiest place and closes at 6am. There is a currency exchange, a golf shop, perfumery and hairdressers there too. The hotel is situated in central vilamoura and a mins stroll from the marina itself. For golfers its an excellent base, for families a higher floor would be better as the noise from Lizzys would keep you awake unless you were under the influence every night. If you have car rental, all the spaces outside the hotel are ticket meter or you'll get a fine. Dont expect the Ritz, but its central, basic and cheap.
