Authentic Cariibbean Experience
Having visited Barbados a number of times, and having eaten at the Fish Pot (the restaurant of the hotel) on every occasion - we took the opportunity on a recent visit to stay at Little Good Harbour. We felt we had to as we`d recommended the restaurant and hotel to too many friends and clients - who`d all come back raving about the food (which we knew well) and the accommodation (which we`d recommended on sight and location rather than having actually stayed there - a risky busines!). Thankfully, though not unexpectedly, the hotel lived up... more
Nice but in need of some attention
We stayed here June 2005. The weather probaly didn't help ( it rained and rained!) The fishpot restaurant here is fabulous but there is quite a busy road inbetween that, the beach (which is VERY small) and your accomodation. The rooms were lovely but the pool area and gorund were in need of a lot of attention. A nice location but no beach and a busy road keeping you awake I would perhaps look elsewhere. There is talk of a new raod being built which will make this one a lot quieter.
Can't wait to come back to the Little Good Harbour!
What an amazing experience – 5 stars out of 5! We stayed at Little Good Harbour (LGH) for six days at the end of July (2005) and everything was perfect. Even in the "off season/hurricane season", we only had one hour of rain during the daytime over the whole vacation. First and foremost, everyone at LGH was very friendly, helpful, and excessively accommodating – from our initial e-mails in scheduling the vacation right through leaving our rental car behind as we reluctantly caught our shuttle ride back to the airport. Everyone from... more
Charming Harbour!
My wife and I stayed at Little Good Harbour (LGH) for 4 of the 6 nights we were in Barbados (the other 2 at the Royal Pavillion for a splurge). LGH is a very nice place with comfortable 2-story cottages with downstairs kitchen and living area and an upstairs bedroom/bathroom. The cottages are all new and well decorated. LGH is a true find and was a great value! The pros: Clean, comfortable, nice staff, very attractive landscaping, secluded and quiet, the Fish Pot restaurant (yummy!). The cons: A little out of the way (you really... more
Above and beyond service
We arrived to LGH after getting off a cruise ship and had two nights there. It was exactly as their website suggested, laid back, quiet and well furnished. Particularly enjoyed being able to play some cd's after being away from music for a while, and the fun of cooking breakfast and sitting outside to enjoy eating it on the balcony. We stayed in a 1BR garden villa, which had ocean views from the upstairs balcony. I loved the way you could open all the windows and allow the breeze through day or night. A/C in the bedroom was great for... more
Little Good Scam
This has to be the worst $300 a night hotel there is! Actually I can think of several $60 a night hotels in the US that are MUCH better. 1. Service - The hotel, believe it or not, doesn't have a front desk or guest services staff or anything remotely similar. They have an 'office' that closes at 6PM and after that if you need anything you can go across the street and see if the restaurant manager can help you out. After the restaurant closes - well, you just wait till the next morning or call the owner's cell phone!? 2. Location... more
Management response from Awarden

I am the owner and creator of Little Good Harbour. I am taking this oportunity to respond to this review as I find it misleading. Initially when I read this review, and then read all the other reviews post by our many happy clients, I felt that future readers would pretty quickly determin that this review does stick out like a sore thumb. So many happy clients and then this one. Little Good Harbour is definitely not for everyone. It is a great base to have in Barbados and is ideally suited to people who like to get out and see the island.People with the spirit of adventure. We are located in a fishing village and yes, Barbados and particularly the West Coast has had a lot of errosion of the beaches this year. Remember it has been a record Hurricane season )In any event as of today, our beach is back. The writer clearly was looking for a typical style American chain hotel - 24 hour front desk / room service etc etc. We are not that and have never claimed to be. We have a night watchman after hours and to be honest the writer of this review is the first person to have made issue with the way we operate.Furthermore, one might ask that if we were so bad, why stay at Little Good Harbour for the full duration of your holiday. With reference to noise. There is a road which I would happily send a picture of to any reader that inquires who will again see that the writer has exagerated her impression. The road is busier at certain times of the day ( when people go to work and come home and yes the last bus is at 11.00pm )I must cross this road 30 times a day and very rarely look both ways as it is not a main road. It is a village road. With reference to the writers attached picture. This picture is taken in the village about 1KM away from the hotel and fail to see how we can be held responsable for the garbage in another village. ( six mens )It is not in front of the hotel. The abandonned building actually had a elderly gentleman living in it until recently, as he passed away. Finally, the writers reference to our rooms. My manager on duty had no problem operating any of the equipment in the rooms. As the owner of Little Good Harbour you would expect me to respond as I have. I will say that Little Good Harbour is located in a part of Barbados full of charm. Often descibed as what Barbados was like 20 years ago. If you are looking for glitz and glamour, Little Good Harbour is not for you. If you are searching for great food, nice surroundings, comfortable cottages and a small hotel with a small amount of staff members, then Little Good Harbour may be just the place. According to many of our other clients, our web site shows a very acuarte picture of what to expect.

Our Favorite!
We were on our honeymoon and decide to extend our stay in barbados. We had stayed 13 days in Barbados and did not have one bad experience, well just one, a catepillar on some basil on my plate, but that was at a restaurant called Olives, really not there fault. We stayed at Little Good Harbour and loved it. this private environment is for the independant person, "uncomplicated" that is. It is your own private townhouse for the trip. a place where you can cook, rest, read or just be. The staff are friendly and professional. The... more
What you are looking for .....
I have just returned from Barbados where I stayed at Little Good Harbour. It was exceptional. The position is idyllic, the cottages delightful and the staff beautifully trained. I came back and the first thing that I did was to look at my diary to decide when I could return. I have stayed in some outstanding hotels around the world, this is now high on my list of favourites. It is a quiet and peaceful spot and if you want to escape then there are few places I can think of which would be more perfect.
Ok but not great
I liked the hotel Ok but the pool was quite small and there really wasn't much to do there at all. It's bare bones, nice room and that's it. It was a little out of the way and Barbados is shockignly expensive for food (they really know howto taek advantage of tourists!) so I would recommend a hotel with more to do and maybe an all-inclusive package even though I am normally adverse to such vacations. This hotel was nice just not great or so memorable if you are used to 5 star type quality.
Delicously God Harbour
The sweetest, place to dream of staying on the wonderful island of Barbados. Away from the "rush" of the rest of the west coast but easy to reach and blissfully safe and calm, the LGH seems to be ideal for anyone who wants good service, that you dont even see, good food, charming, chilled staff who are friendly and helpful and always professional. Best really is the stunning position right on the beach or in the charming little houses clustered round the pool and swathed in all those tropical flowers. I loved being able to make our own meals... more
