Dom Pedro Marina Hotel Reviews
" We have visited this hotel for the... "
Submitted By: Mrs S Gundlack
We have visited this hotel for the past 6 years (and stayed at the Dom Pedro Golf for 3 years prior to that).
Have always had an excellent holiday, good accommodation, good breakfast, and good a la carte evening meals.
Service by all the staff has been excellent, friendly and have basically made our holiday more enjoyable - hence our keep on returning.
We do not have children so tend to holiday outside of school holiday times. The pool is fine, although I prefer to go to the beach.
I am looking forward to our 7th visit to this hotel.

A lad’s long weekend. Perfect for golf, fitting in 3 games in 4 days.
Rooms spacious and clean and had all we needed. Continental breakfast, just the job before a round of golf.
Lots of bars nearby and great restaurants. Plenty of places to choose to eat and very reasonably priced.
The pool was a tad cold so we just sunbathed instead. No kids at the hotel but we didn't go in school holidays.
Flew BA from LHR, ok airline prefer Air Portugal.
This is the 3rd year running the 'lads' have stayed at this hotel for golf tour and we'll be staying there again next year.

Having just spent 7 nights at the Dom Pedro Marina hotel I wanted to put my review on this website to say what a lovely week it has been.
The location of this hotel is fantastic and it is well worth paying the extra for a sea view, our room overlooked both the sea and the marina and was beautiful. When we originally booked the hotel I put a request in for a high floor room with a double bed, not only did we get this but we were also upgraded to a suite!
The pool was small but nice, the gardens pretty with plenty of shade and the 'Marina' hotel seemed to have a lot more atmosphere and was more personable than the 'Golf' hotel (sister hotel just down the road), so an excellent choice as originally I was unsure which one to book.
Lots of families with small children which didn't bother myself or my boyfriend but if you are looking for a quiet poolside then this might not be for you!
The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the waiters and waitresses by the poolside bar were great, lots of smiles and personality! The room was cleaned daily and linen changed every other day.
Breakfast was not the most creative and eating there for 7 days tended to get a little boring but there is plenty of it and with a reasonable choice.
If I come back to Vilamoura I would definately come back to this hotel.

" This is the first time we have stayed... "

This is the first time we have stayed at this hotel, having been to Vilamoura 4 out of the previous 5 years. (Previously we stayed at the Marinotel twice - excellent, the Ampalius (OK) and the Atlantis (Good))
Knowing the location to be excellent for the marina and beach, we decided to choose this hotel over the others as it offered us a family suite for less than many of the other hotels were charging for a single!
Overall the hotel service cannot be faulted: Breakfast was not hectic and had a reasonable selection of items. The maid service was daily and the linen and beds and towels replaced each day.
The bar area was fine, with plenty of seating and sofas etc, and a musician played each night and/or sang to keep the oldies happy.
We did seem to be in the age minority when we were there - it felt more like a Saga hotel than a family hotel, but that may have had more to do with the time of year than anything else.
The hotel staff were friendly, and quite accommodating of our request for a late check out (for free!) on the last day to make the most of our time in Vilamoura.
Now onto the negatives: The pool was too small for the size of hotel, and was freezing cold and dirty on closer inspection (leaves, bugs, etc floating in the water), there were quite clearly not enough sun beds for all the guests so you had to get out early if you planned a day around the pool.
There is also no playground or facilities of any sort for children.
Having said all of that - you can use the facilities at the nearby Dom Pedro Golf for free - and their pool area and facilities are excellent.
Our family room, on the second floor, had no balconies - a nightmare if you are trying to get wet swimwear and towels dry!
The room itself, split into two distinct sleeping areas, was large enough and there were 4 single beds in the room (pushed together in pairs).
Our particular room had a nasty "cabbage" smell which we couldn’t trace that appeared mid-week, but opening of windows cleared it for a while - you just had to hold your breath for the first few minutes after having been out on return to the room!
That said, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Vilamoura on a budget, but we won't be choosing this hotel in the future. Its well worth a 2 minute further walk to stay at the sister hotel, the Dom Pedro Golf.

Lovely hotel, Cleaners in every day and if you put 'Do not disturb' on the door, they come back when you are out and clean the room.

Breakfasts nice, loads to choose from, could have a different type of breakfast every morning. Ideal location so close to every thing. Very quiet at night, only a piano at night so didn’t stop in the bar much. Pool lovely always a spare sun bed if you wanted and not to many kids.

When we arrived we immediately upgraded to the presidential suite on the top floor as we knew that having a jacuzzi would make our holiday so much more fun. We were definitely right to upgrade as the holiday would have been completely different if we didn’t have the jacuzzi to relax in after a few lovely hours sunbathing at the nearby beach. Our balcony was huge and situated perfectly in the sun.
We did have a few probs with the jacuzzi not working a couple of times but the technician was on hand to fix the problem ASAP.
Didn’t really like the cleaners they seemed to have a problem with us as we are quite young and they thought for some reason that we could possibly afford to stay in the presidential suite. Our balcony was a little bit dirty so when we put a few towels down so we wouldn’t slip after getting out of the jacuzzi the miserable cleaner lady told the reception that we had stained the towels and so asked us for 150 euros to replace them but once we stated how dirty the floor was to the manger the issue was quickly resolved.
Lovely breakfast and plenty of nice restaurants nearby. Very peaceful and relaxing, would definitely revisit.
