Generally, without having someone you actually know give a vacation location an endorsement, it's pretty much impossible to decide where to go simply by reading information on the Internet. As this site shows for Breezes Bahamas, there is simply too much conflicting information. I have an old friend who is a travel agent, and after much cruising around Internet travel sites, I finally gave her a call... and she recommended Breezes Bahamas. Here is the real story on this place... overall, this place represents good value for the money. We scored a CDN$979 per person package for 4 nights (almost half of other all-inclusive places), and it was well worth the money. The airport transfer and check-in was very easy and quick (airport to hotel room was less than 1/2 hour). Our room overlooked the pool and garden, which was fine except that live-evening entertainment will go on until mid-night (so, if you're going to bed earlier, ask for a room not facing the pool). We did not realize this, and after the first night asked to change rooms... the staff were very accomodating and there was no problem switching to an oceanview. The resort provides a buffet pretty much around the clock. We ate breakfast at the buffet each day and found it quite good. We ended up eating salads at lunch from the buffet, and we also enjoyed these a lot. Lunch also consisted of burgers, chicken, or fish-and-chips from the poolside grill... all of which were excellent. We managed to get a reservation at the two restaurants (Pastafari and Garden of Eden) and both were surprisingly good. Entree's such as a beef-fillet, pasta-with shrimp, lobster-ravioli, stuffed grouper, loster-bisque were all quite tastey! Be sure to book reservations well in advance (the spaces are limited)... but, we did not have any real problems getting a reservation (although one night we ate at 9 PM). The pool and beach were as expected... lots of poolside chairs and tables, the beach was nice, and the water there is clear-blue... awesome. There were many activities that were available to guests. We had loads of fun playing beach volleyball, climbing on the training wall, doing the trapeze, waterskiing, sailing, yoga, and kayaking. The staff were friendly and helpful (some more enthusiastic than others, but no major complaints). Overall, the activities made this vacation loads of fun. We were expecting just to 'veg' by the pool for a few days, but the activities simply made the whole trip a real blast! There were a real mix of people at this place... young and old. We managed to find a few couples to play volleyball with, hang-out for drinks, and chat. I've seen reviews indicating everything from "this is a party place" to "it's for the forty-something-plus-crowd". Overall, there is a wide mix... everyone seemed to be having fun!The only complaint about this place is that it is showing its age somewhat. So, what does that mean? It means the hotel and room are not like a Sheraton, Hilton or Radisson, they are clean and spacious, but the rooms and hotel are slightly "rough around the edges". Unless you can't do without the luxery of the Hilton, you'll have nothing really to worry about. In general, the negative comments on this site about the shape of the facility are somewhat exaggerated. Besides, you're not doing much other than sleep in the rooms anyway... get on the beach! The final say here is that this place represents good value. I'm quite sure there are better places to stay, and better all-inclusive resorts (this is *not* Atlantis)... however, if you're looking to get away to the Sun, have a care-free all-inclusive vacation and enjoy the Bahamas, and have some fun, then this is the place for you. We did not spend a single dime extra than our package price at the resort (with the exception of some bottled-water we got for the poolside, and a hand-painted tatoo for my wife)... they claim you leave your wallet at home, and they're not kidding. I'm also sure that everyone's experience will differ based on the traveller's general disposition, the weather during their visits, etc, etc., but I can certainly say that aggressively negative reviews should be the exception. Don't be scared of the negative reviews... read what is written above, and if this sounds good to you, go and have fun.
A Nightmare Resort

Breezes was the worst resort I have ever experienced and I have travelled fairly extensively throughout the Carribean and Mexico. We couldn't wait to leave. I can't believe the travel companies give this place 4 stars. I would give it 2 or 3 at most as the hotel is run-down and a lot of things don't work and it is really understaffed. The Nassau Beach Hotel which is next door is much nicer and is given a lower rating. The Radisson is much nicer and it is given the same rating as Breezes which makes no sense. In addition to all the problems with the hotel, I think the main problem is the type of people it attracts. I agree with the reviewer who said that many of the guests "really had no class. Loud, rude, crude, and just plain trashy. " We were woken up in the middle of the night repeatedly by people who were drunk, screaming and slamming doors. I would only recommend this resort to people whose main idea of a good time is getting as drunk as possible on the free booze as drinking (and smoking) seemed to be the main activities taking place at this hotel.
Had a great time, good $$$ value

My husband and I visited Breezes Jan 24-28 2003. We got exactly what we paid for: a decent room, plenty of food and drink, mostly friendly service, a great pool, and lots of entertainment. Our only complaint was the weather, it was very cool and breezy our entire stay. Check in was quick and easy at 1:00. We got our bracelets right away and were able to eat & drink immediately. We checked into our room after 3:00.Our room was basic. It served its purpose. Cable TV had a decent selection of US channels. We never had a water problem, but did hear of some.We really enjoyed breakfast at the buffet restaurant and the salad bar at lunch was good. Otherwise lunch and dinner were pretty average. We prefered to have lunch from the pool grill. Burgers and jerk chicken are good. We dined at Pastafari and Garden of Eden, both very good. The pool layout was great. Be sure to try a Mango Daquari or Dirty Bannana from the pool bar. (All their alcohol is good quality: Absolute and Makers Mark). My husband enjoyed Kalic, the local beer, but Miller Lite and Coors light were also available. The ocean was a magnificent blue. Cabanas and lounge chairs were available. The staff encouraged you to join in on the pool and beach games. Schedules of activities were available every morning at the front desk. I flew trapeeze and it was amazing. I suggest wearing leggings or tight long pants (not shorts). We saw a comedy routine one evening in the disco that was pretty good. There was Karaokee one night that we watched, very entertaining. The piano bar was enjoyable.Overall we had a great time. Occasionally we had to wait for a drink or for a table to be cleared, but we did not pay for a Five Star Resort, so we did not expect to be treated like we were at one. We found the staff and guests to be nice people. We would definately go back.
Displeased with first time visit to Nassau

Well well.... Where do I begin. My boyfriend and I booked this trip Dec 22 2002, after we booked our trip the this " Paradise", we found this wonderful website. Some of the feed back was good, some was excellent but.. then there was awful. We were worried we were going to have a bad time after reading some of the reviews. So we figured the only way we would know is it we go. When we left for our 4 day/3 night stay at the breezes on Jan 31st 2003 We arrived at the airport and there was no one from Air Canada vacations to show us to our transfer bus, we didnt even know if we had a bus. We had to go to the breezes section at the airport and had him direct us. when we got to the hote the there was a massive line with guest, with only two check in woman. after that we received our room, the ROOMS are ok, nothing to special but we paid for a ocean view, and never got it untill we complained. When we moved to our new room, I noticed i was missing two hats, a toque and a fisher man hat, when I asked the house keeping manager if he has seen them, he said yes. when i asked for them I only received one. when I asked where the other one was he said, someone on the hotel staff must have taken it. SO I GUESS THIS MEANS THESE PEOPLE STEAL. The hotel is very old... it had a lot of renovations going on. The hotel staff, I.E. Bartenders, Cleaning, Hotel management was very rude. They have a swim up bar, that is never open therefore no one was in the pool our whole stay. The only thing about this trip that was excellent was the food at this hotel, it would have used a little more selection though.. But TRAVELLERS beware, what you pay for is what you get. If you want upscale, do NOT pic this hotel, spend a little bit more and goto PARADISE ISLAND. if you want to ask me anything, please e-mail me and I will give you the down low.. :)

OK. Lets begin from the start. This is not the place to have a holiday. I stayed from January 31, 2003 to February 3, 2003.In general the staff were rude and not accomodating. Several concerns were raised with the manager and they were ignored. The rooms were small and mediocre at best. I would say the rooms are average, maybe equal to a two star. Though the food was good at the main buffet, the snack bar at the pool did not offer great hours. At 15 minutes to 12, I approached the attendant to ask for a hamburger and was told, "NO" even though I could see that he was cooking several. The bar staff ignored most men and would only serve the women with any respect. At one point I asked for a mudslide and was simply told, "NO, we aren't making them anymore!" The pool was very cold and the ocean was also very cold. The towels at the pool were thin and very worn. The hot tub was not overly warm, especially in the evenings. Generally the hotel failed in all categories. Each person I met in Nassau or locals on the beach were 10 times more friendly than the Hotel staff. The bright spots of this hotel are: 1) Eden Restaurant ---great food 2) Front Desk ---Yasmine and Ericka ---were very helpful.3) The coach driver --- offered more information then any of the hotel helpers. I visited the Wyndham Nassau Resort and would have stayed there over the Breezes. Bahamas is a wonderful place to spend a holiday, but the Breezes is not. Save your money and book elsewhere on the island. In the end, it may cost you a bit more, but at least your holiday memories will not be ruined.
Breezy Breezes

I stumbled across this sight right before we set out for our 7 day stay at Breezes, and while I really didn't know what to expect, it really wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. First let me start by saying that the property could stand to use some minor renovations. Also, some heat in the rooms would be an added bonus. This especially comes in handy during unexpected 'cold fronts' or those breezy Bahamian nights. We had no problems with our room, however heard that people in the other building were complaining of no hot water. Also, the 'breezes' blowing through the main area got pretty cold at times. Wondering if the doors shouldn't have been closed sooner?! The staff was friendly and did their best when the weather, or the guests weren't co-operative :) The entertainment staff did an excellent job, considering they have to do this day after day. Funky D and his band rocked! And while I only got to the disco a couple of times, it was O.K. The food was always in abundance, and the salad bar was exceptional. The only complaint I have here, is that there could be more variety, especially with the seafood. I don't think I encountered one bad meal. The poolside grill was also good. No complaints. I have stayed at most of the Superclubs in Jamaica, and can only compare this one to Hedonism2. It's not bad, but it's not great. You can make it as good as you like. The main thing to remember is: you are on vacation...so make the best of it The only real complaint I had, was the bad weather we encountered. As a travel agent, I wouldn't hesitate to sell this property...but only to people I know would fit the bill ;) Cheers.
9th Trip Back

After reading some of the reviews I began to wonder if we stayed in the same hotel!!! My husband and I are returning for our 9th time on Feb 7/03. We have gone at all different times of the year, for 3, 4 & 7 nights. If your looking for a high class hotel with somebody pampering you 24 hours a day this is not the place. If you want to be active all the time or some of the time, or just lazy around the beach or pool this is the place. The food has always been very good with lots of choice for all 3 meals. I have a very sensitive stomach and have never run into a problem with the food. The beverages are non-stop if you want them and generally that is what causes the problems. Your not use to drinking that much all the time. The rooms are fine for the amount of time you spend in them and if your unlucky enough to get some bad weather, there is still plenty to do with the Fitness Centre, Billiards, Ping Pong, Board Games. Bring some cards and use the boardgame's money to make it more interesting. Whether you go with a group of men/women or as a couple we have done both, it's always a good time. A vacation is what you make of it with a little bit of help from the resort. We also got married there 2 years ago and it was the easy way to do it. Everything except the marriage license was taken care of before we got there. A trip into town with other couples getting married to get the license. Then one meeting to go over the final arrangements. Then just wait for the day to arrive. We have also found the staff more than helpful if anything crops up. On our last trip I needed medical attention for a ear infection. It must have started the day we left for our vacation and was quite painful the next day. No problem. Went to the front desk they sent me to the nurse and she advised me to see a doctor. She arranged everything for us within a hour. The front desk arranged a taxi who dropped us off and then the driver gave us his cell number so when we were ready he would pick us back up. We went into town saw the doctor got the antibotics and were back at the resort within a hour. 2 days later I was pretty much back to normal. The staff for the most part have always been pleasant and very helpful. This maybe your vacation but it's there job. Everybody has bad days at work. The resident house band Funky D is great and will have you dancing and laughing till midnight. Then if you still have some energy head down to the disco and party till you drop. We have travelled to many resorts and some have better beaches, better rooms, or great food but we have found this resort to have everything. The best advice for this resort or any resort is SMILE you'll be surprised how infectious it is. P.S. Don't forget to bring a large coolie cup for daytime as it keeps your drinks cold and shortens the trips to the bar. Happy Vacation!!!

My fiance and I went to Breezes in August of 2002. It was a complete We were only there for 4 days and could not wait to leave. The staff is OK, not overly friendly or accomadating but not rude either. The food is HORRIBLE. You will get sick of the buffet, and there are long waits for the restaurants, which weren't any better. The buffet is messy & dirty, and the tables never had silverware...by the time a server brought it to you the food was cold. Worst of all, though, were the other guests. Mostly Americans, mostly obnoxious. My fiance and I are not snotty by any means, but the guests really had no class. Loud, rude, crude, and just plain trashy. Breezes may be a little cheaper than other resorts, but I know now it's worth it to spend the extra $ and go somewhere a little more upscale. In this case, you definitely get what you pay for! I would never go back.
lynn was the best bartender

When we arrived although we had filled out our registration cards on the bus and the fact that we were the only persons checking in, it took ages... at one point we even asked the Receptionist if there was a problem with our booking. We had paid with our package to upgrade to an ocean view room and had asked for a quite room. Unfortunately all the ocean view rooms look over the swimming pool and the noise in the daytime and in the evening from the general entertainment area is severe. On walking past several of the rooms the next morning while they were open for cleaning I could see nothing upgraded about our room from any other. On complaining about this we were offered and accepted an Oceanfront room but although this was slightly larger and looked out over the sea I would not have paid for the privilage. So a little tip you may as well just opt for standard. The food in the buffet was always acceptable with a varied choice the only complaint about the buffet was the staff.... sometimes we were invisible not being offered either coffee in the morning or wine in the evening until we had nearly finished our meal, and if you had to go and ask they almost gave the impression that anything you wanted was going to be a lot of trouble, and they would much rather stand gossiping to colleagues than actually do their jobs. Both bookable restuarants were nice and it was very romantic in the outside section of the Garden of Eden. We stayed at the hotel and there was only 50% occupancy I don't think I would care to stay there if the hotel was full, they had a job coping in the bars and restuarants at this level. Usually there was only one bartender in the main bar where the evening entertainment was and when it got busy there forget ordering any drinks. The piano bar however was a different matter, Lynn the bartender was the most excellent member of staff there always remembering our drinks each evening and making sure that they were refilled without asking. Overall as this was our most expensive at the standard of service that we reveived overall, generally though the hotel is clean and the food not bad.
The hotel was very nice if a little cramped with the swimming pool squashed in between the blocks of rooms, although off to the right behind the main buildings was a beautiful beach area where weddings were held. Great fun catching a local bus into Nassau about 20 mins... more
