I could not help myself writing this review after reading so much rubbish written. I have spent 4 holidays this year (2011) in Ichmeyler and at the Fabor and just returned in August, at the end of May and June when they were erecting the new bar. And contrary to what has... more

We stayed at The Faber for 2 weeks. On arrival we were allocated a room on the 2nd floor by the stairs which turned out to be very noisy and 2 days later we transferred to an attic room which was much quieter .The rooms at best are very small and really only designed for 2... more

The Faber Hotel is positioned in the Old Village which for us was great. We didn't want to be amongst the hustle bustle of the main strip, bars & market. It was a leisurely 10 min stroll to the beach and main restaurants. (Although there were quite a few within minutes... more

On arrival we were given a small ‘room’ in the attic on the 4th floor with no pool view and no seating/dining area to speak of. The room was very small for four people, and with no balcony/seating area we were unable to extend the living area into any outside space. The... more

I am sorry to say that on my first visit to Turkey my holiday was ruined by staying at the Faber Hotel. I just did not like this hotel because of the clicky pool atmosphere created by the staff sucking up to anyone who parted with the most money on food and drinks. I find... more

Ok if this is what you like...
The apartments are to a very high standard. Pool scene can be a bit rowdy for my liking. Loud music from 10am in the morning somedays...not good for a lie in. There is defo pressure from staff to stop people going out of the complex, they even set it up so you have to walk past the bar to get out of the complex and then question you as you leave. The staff love you when your spending money here because they are on profit share. They hardly bother with you when you don't. I didn't like this way of doing things as it makes you feel uncomfortable if you don't play along with it. I would only recommend this place to anyone who likes to hang around the pool all day and sunbathe or who have kids and don't like to venture far out. If you just need digs to explore out and about you are better off somewhere else. This hotel was not for me and in the end I was glad to leave. Icmeler is a lovely resort and plenty to do. I would definately recommend the Wayside restaurant. The food is of a very high standard and very helpful staff. Sylvias bar is a great music bar and also does nice food. Sylvia and Mohammad are really great hosts. Say hello to Chico at Honest Johns clothes shop, on the same road as Sylvias. He thinks he is a right ladies man. lol
good family apt
the only thing that spoilt this holiday was the people in this apt who just came to moan and groan and sit on the balcony playing cards but still watching the entertainment the bar staff did for us all one women demanded the music turned off while she was sunbathing even though it was background music its people like this that go on tripadviser and give reviews that are all lies ok if you want to go on holiday and spend your time moaning you dont go to a apt which says it is lively and is good for kids .Anyway thats my moan out of the way hares my opinion .Having been to turkey 14 times i can tell you this is one of the best hols ever .Apts spotless cleaned every day ,rooms spacious and modern, pool cleaned twice a day ,food good english breakfast £2.50 recomended, bar service and staff couldnt do enough for you. the bar staff are a team who have just come from another apt in marmaris they have worked together for years and it is there job to entertain you which they do brilliantly .alex and speedy are the leaders and its them that did get all the moaning and groaning off the sad people who wanted to play cards but they still had a smile on there face all the time i didnt have to go out to find a boat trip or tickets for waterpark they did it for me .the waterpark in marmaris is ok but nothing special if you eat in there restaurant the night befor you get free tickets and at £13.50 a ticket realy worth it ..every night in apt theres entertainment from either the bar staff or visiting acts my kids never wanted to go out because it was such good fun I have 3 daughters 15,10,8 and a freind came along aged 14 so you can see differant age group and they all enjoyed it .The flight was ok but legroom was shocking MONACH AIRLINES should realy do something about this ,worst legroom ever if you are tall an going with monarch be prepared.all in all the holiday was fab but if you dont like having a good time why go get a cottage in the peak district
very good value and very relaxing
Icmeler is a very modern, well kept resort with a good beach and a wide range of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. The resort is relatively small and quiet compared to nearby Marmaris and well suited to families and older couples. Faber Apartments are well located in a quiet area 10 mins walk from the town and 15 mins from the beach. The apartments are more than adequate for 2 people and are clean and reasonably well equipped - all except the top floor have good sized balconies. Safe deposit boxes available in rooms at £10 per week and aircon at £4 per day. The pool area is well maintained with a good supply of comfortable sun loungers. Service was excellent and we found all of the staff very friendly and helpful. My only criticism of Faber would be the way that the bar staff try to pressure guests into spending time on site on food/drink. This is perfectly understandable as the staff are paid a a commission basis. However, the food in the Faber was nothing special and we found that there were plenty of places locally offering far better quality food at similar prices. We didn't choose a self catering apartment hotel so that we could spend every night in the hotel restaurant !!!
What a wonderfull place
Went there to propose to my soul mate . A wonderfull place to stay the small complex was special not to big not to small although i think at full season it could be a little cramped. The rooms were tidy and well kept the only thing missing you could do with a microwave. The complex the smart tidy , well kept , clean. The setting was fantastic surrounded by the mountains , only 15 min walk to the beach 10 min walk to the small town. Quite a few tourist bars & restaurant ( these are quite expensive so shop around) Best restaurants are in the back strrets the local turkish restaurants cheaper , warm friendly family welcome good food you'll want to go back. Do's and Dont's Do go there if you want a relaxing brake ( but not for young kids or large familys but otherwise heaven. Do use the on site F bar the staff are wonderfull Speedy and Alex and all the boys ,there food is good but like there drink a little bit expensive but the genuine warmth and fun they rain on you is worth every wallet opening you endure. They even kept the bar open for us so when we were leaving at 3.30 am for or flight they made us coffee carried our bags to the coach and waved us off . Thank you lads you made or holiday so special. Dont use A2B Tours terrible for Transfers kept us waiting 2 hours in the coach before we pulled out f the coach ( prehaps it was due that i had to encourage them by threatening to rip there heads off and get the good holiday makers to there desinations) And finaly Amanda Hughes said yes after the staff and myself planned a so romantic proposal off fireworks , roses ,champagne ,music it was worth the look on her face Oh and me getting down on on Knee. Thank you for agreeing to Be Mrs Stacey
Fantastic Faber
What can I say? Faber is a gorgeous Hotel in a great location. Ozlem and Turgut are great and go beyond the call of duty to help! Sadly some English people have taken advantage of this! (I hope you're reading this and are ashamed of yourselves) The bar staff are friendly and enjoy laughing and joking with the customers. The rooms are clean, and are furnished very modern. The room girl did sometimes come late as stated in other reports but she ALWAYS did a good job! The pool area is really lovely and when they put the fountain on at night it is truly stunning. My husband and I can't wait to return next year to see some very special friends, Ozlem and Turgut :-))) Thanks for everything you both did for me and Ilhan xx
HONEST AND FAIR REVIEW...
We booked this hotel on the internet based mainly on the excellent reviews we have generally seen from other people. Having read the reviews and seen very nice pictures and videos of the hotel, we were somewhat disappointed. We stayed for 2 weeks and the quality of our stay got worse the longer we were there. The apartments were clean enough although the standard of cleaning was quite poor. There was no microwave or toaster in the apartment as advertised. The staff were mostly unfriendly especially if you didnt make use of the hotel bar and restaurant! Dogs were tied up outside of the hotel, not very nice and were nearly savaged by them which the staff found amusing. Also a number of people got ear infections whilst staying here possibly caused by the pool. I wouldnt stay here again. On the plus side, it is in a good location - only 10 minute walk to the centre and the beach so it is quite quiet. Large balconies were also a bonus. The resort though is really nice. Would recommened both the Mandalin and the Coco Beach Restaurants. Both offer excellent food in a nice atmosphere at a good price.
Great holiday in great hotel - Honest review here
i stayed at the faber apart hotel for 1 week. we got one of there newly decorated rooms and it was very nice with a large balcony. The address for this hotel sometimes says marmaris this hotel is very much in Icelmer! the staff were friendly and didnt presure us to stay in their restaurant. you will need to purchase air con at £4 a day, which is the going rate and well worth the money! the safe box is £10 (fair price). The pool is really clean and there were plenty of loungers. You are less than 5 minute walk to supermarket and less than 10 minute walk to main street with the shops, restaurants and bars. I would recommend the Mandolin restaurant we had 3 course meal and drink for about £10 each and food was really nice with plenty of choice. only thing i didnt like about this hotel was that there was a scary looking dog in the house next door, which really isnt that bad. Some people have complained about the cleanliness of this hotel - our room was immaculate and they tidied it everyday and even did our washing up while we were out! the toilet did smell a little but i found this for ALL the toilets i visited in turkey and am pretty sure its due to the sewage system (you should put toilet paper down the toilet!) i would go back to this hotel and would recommend it to those who dont want the noisy centre of marmaris but still want small bars ect i would NOT recommend this hotel for families - the play area is just a swing the kids pool in VERY small and your a 10 minute walk from the beach which in the turkish heat is really not good with kids. hope this helps your choice of holiday hotel.
Nice Hotel
Just got back from the Faber. Its a pretty hotel with lovely rooms. Cleaning of rooms started of good but declined after a few days stay. When we first got there Adam was friendly, told us he earnt his money on commission, so wants people to stay at hotel and buy food and drinks. We went out out every night, so he ignored us most of the time because we didnt spend enough money at hotel for his likeing! The man from angels restaurant over the road from Faber is a right pest, wanting us to eat in his restaurant. The wayside restaurant is the best place to eat, and the staff are very nice.
Can't fault the Faber
Just got back from a week at the Faber if you have booked this hotel you can feel safe that you have picked a good one and if you are looking for a place to stay i would recommend it 100%. For the money i really couldn't fault it, Great Pool. The rooms are a good size plenty of room for 2 with a nice pool facing balcony. Try and get a ground, 1st or 2nd floor as top top floor doesn't have a balcony as such. The staff there are very helpful and very nice and trustworthy, Adam was a hit with us his real name is Erhan and he was a great help. As for the review below i can say that we also like to eat out at different restaurants and we didn’t eat at the hotel one night and they had no problem with us at all. Saying that the restaurant and the food there was fine but we spent most days around the pool there and liked to go out in the evening. The bar is open 24/7 so if you come back late and want a drink there is always someone there to serve you. I think treat people they way you wish to be treated, if you are nice to them they will be nice to you and will love you as their guests. The other guests I came in to contact with at the hotel were very complimentary of the staff! Only bad points really were that the bathroom and especially the shower was a bit on the small side. This hotel is great for couple and families of all ages and has a great pool. I booked this hotel because i didn't want to stay in a massive complex as i did before the Marti La Perla as there as i find it over crowded and Russians were horrific, if you prefer a bit of down time then this place is great! If you want to go on trips i'd look around the stalls on the streets as they offer best deals and pick you up from the hotel, Hotel trips were more expensive. Big supermarket was 5min walk and had everything and the main town centre is a 10min walk, beach 15mins. Recommended restaurants Titanic - Great food Olive Tree - Great for Couples bit more classy Love Boat - Good food Cavaleire (On the beach front toward cafe del mar) This was a cut above atmosphere service and food similar to the best restaurants in the uk and was reasonable! Again best for couple 3 courses each, drinks and bottle of decent wine came to £50 There are numerous amounts of great family restaurants offering wide choice but if you want something a little more substantial id recommend the above.
Modern but staff problems
After looking long and hard on the internet we chose the Faber. It was totally renovated three years ago and is the most modern looking building in the area. The quality of the rooms and pool area are of a high standard. The rooms have a TV, kettle, microwave but no toaster. There is lots of storage space and the bedding was crisp and clean. Towels and bedding are only changed every three days. The rooms are adequate for two people but would be cramped for any more. Now for the negatives. The standard of cleaning was very poor for what they class as a four star. Cleaning staff often arrived late in the afternoon only to empty bins or change the towels. The balcony was only swept once during our stay and the room not much more. Sinks and shower were ignored. One evening we found the whole bathroom soaked including the toilet seat and not moped. When we were only ordering water from the bar it soon became evident that they only wanted to be friendly to those spending at the bar. We did not eat at the restaurant as we enjoy going out and about. We felt that we were ignored by staff and they even accused us of working for a local bar and taking guests there....totally ridiculous. They have a small supermarket on the ground floor which is supplied by Tansas supermarket and at the same prices. Please note that there are smaller attic rooms which they do not advertise. The location is in the old village, approximately ten minutes walk to the main bars and restaurants. I would certainly recommend the Titanic restaurant and the Lighthouse for food and hospitality. We will be going again to Icmeler but not back to the Faber because of staff attitude and lack of cleaning.
