Submitted By: smakThe bed for the children (a double sofa bed) collapsed several times during the course of our stay. It was broken in two places and we were informed that collapsing ‘was normal’.
The air conditioning (charged at £4 per day) was limited to the main bedroom only. It could only be used during the times the room was occupied via the key card. This meant that the room never got cooler than 30 degrees and was particularly hot during the day when we would have hoped to let the children rest or have lunch in the apartment.
Most nights, the children could not sleep on the sofa bed due to the continual collapsing problem and lack of air conditioning. More often than not, four of us were forced to sleep in a double bed which was totally unacceptable.
The half board option was a joke. On arrival we were handed a menu for the week which comprised: Monday – Chicken Curry; Tuesday – Beef; Wednesday – bbq; Thursday – meatballs; Friday – Fish and chips; Saturday – Spaghetti; Sunday – Chicken. On the half board basis, there was no other options for children, nothing for vegetarians, no starters or desserts, no drinks (not even water) and a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude. The portion sizes were small and the meal was basic and bland.
When we asked about varying what was on offer, we were informed that we would have to pay extra money – even for water, green salad or fruit. On the evening of the bbq’s we were asked to pay a non-optional upgrade to fit in with the rest of the guests who were staying on a room-only basis.
During the course of the holiday we were treated as second class citizens compared to all the other guests because we were not paying per meal (ie no service charge).
Due the above, we were forced to ‘upgrade’ on several occasions for a better meal or ‘choice’ and consequently we were completely ripped off… a single rasher of bacon at breakfast was charged at 5 Lire – and yet the other guests were only paying 6 Lire for a full English breakfast. We received no receipts and came to the conclusion that the ‘chargeables’ were pocketed.
The Farber is loud, vulgar and poor quality. We would not recommend it for a family holiday.
Advice: Pleasant location, lovely beach, larger resort than expected
Activities: Romance Palace, Titanic Restaurants.
Good for: Beach
" Awfull staff!! "
Submitted By: MattbI just did not like this hotel because of the clicky pool atmosphere created by the staff sucking up to anyone who parted with the most money on food and drinks. I find all the 'high fives', loud music on request and all the other rubbish they come out with very false.
We felt alien to this place by the end of the 2 weeks and just couldn't wait to leave.
Go to Turkey. Go to Icemeler. Avoid the Faber.
Advice: Do not go to the Faber Hotel!

Submitted By: DebstokeUnfortunately the same cannot be said of the Faber Apartments we experienced exactly the same reception from the staff as Ray. We arrived on the friday night and were put in the attic room with two double beds I have a daughter of 17 and a son of 15 and they expected them to sleep together so we complained and they did move us. The double bed settee in which myself and my husband were to sleep was broken we reported this to reception on three seperate occaisions over three days nothing was done so I rang the Jet 2 agent Christianne she was brilliant and had it sorted within 5 minutes. The hotel staff came and had ago at us for ringing the agent and from that day on we were effectively sent to Coventry by a majority of the staff. During our stay we found the shower tray did not drain the shower head was broke and the key mechanism broke on a number of occaissions. The apartments are supposed to be self catering but the microwaves have been removed and there isn't even a toaster we assume this is a ploy to get you to spend your money at the pool bar.
We have been to Icemeler 7 times and this was by far the worst place we have stayed in.
Icemeler is a fantastic place and we will be returning next year but needless to say not to the Faber.
Good for: Beach

" no appartment on arrival "
Submitted By: sallykThe rooms although nice , were smaller than expected and the leaking kitchen sink and severe leaking shower were never fixed dispite being reported to reception.
The childrens pool and play area was a joke !!! the childrens pool was about 5 foot circular and the play area was a baby slide and baby swing in a area no bigger then a public toilet .
The appartments were clean and staff friendly, but some of the music by the pool side was more like a ibiza rave than relaxing by the pool , the lyrics to eminem of you [--] [--] certainly were not suitable around the pool side especially for my 5 and 7 year old children to listen to .
would not recommend these appartments to families.
please watch bar bills , as they tried to add on an extra 100 lira which when questioned turned out to be a mistake after all !!
Faber is very much old icelmer and quite a walk to beach and main area .
Advice: Icelmer very beautiful but felt that food and drink not cheap !!!

Submitted By: Mr N IngramWell we did and were not disappointed, these were the best self catering apartments we have stayed in. Cleaners were not fantastic, but hey you're in Turkey on holiday and some people think it's the Hilton, no it is not and cleaning was sufficient. The rooms are great and the balcony looks out over the pool, which itself is a good size for apartments in Turkey.
We like eating out so only used the restaurant once, but was is very good, we had no hassle from any of the staff for not eating there, infact Adam was really helpful for our entire stay.
As for eating out, walk down into the centre and there are more than enough restaurants to choose from, our number one recommendation would be the Chef next to the Love Boat, we have eaten here many times over the last 8 years and the food and service have never been anything other than 5 star.
If your fancy any trips I would siggest using the Icmeler Travel Centre, their Gulet day (called Surf N' Turf) is a little more expensive than some but the BBQ is fabulaous and all drink is free, it really is good value.
If you stay in Icmeler, please do not miss the opportunity to walk through what remains of the old village, it is a wonderful experience and the people there will always greet you with a smile.
I could go on, but do not want to bore you, so I will just say if you want a holiday to chill and relax, you will not find anywhere better than Icmeler.
One final note and I guess you will have already guessed, we will be going back next year.

Submitted By: marco cFor the money i really couldn't fault it, Great Pool. The rooms are a good size plenty of room for 2 with a nice pool facing balcony. Try and get a ground, 1st or 2nd floor as top top floor doesn't have a balcony as such.
The staff there are very helpful and very nice and trustworthy, Adam was a hit with us his real name is Erhan and he was a great help. As for the review below i can say that we also like to eat out at different restaurants and we didnt eat at the hotel one night and they had no problem with us at all. Saying that the restaurant and the food there was fine but we spent most days there and liked to go out in the evening. The bar is open 24/7 so if you come back late and want a drink there is always someone there to serve you.
I think treat people they way you wish to be treated, if you are nice to them they will be nice to you and will love you.
This hotel is great for couple and families of all ages and has a great pool.
I booked this hotel because i didnt want to stay in a massive complex as i did before the Marti La Perla as there as i find it over crowded, if you prefer a bit of down time then this place is great!
If you want to go on trips i'd look around the stalls on the streets as they offer best deals and pick you up from the hotel, Hotel trips were more expensive.
Big supermarket was 5min walk and had everything and the main town centre is a 10min walk, beach 15mins.

Submitted By: Mrs PS PallettThe apartments are very well equipped, clean and all have an excellent view of the pool and surrounding mountains. Security is to a high standard with various cameras placed strategically around the site.( you can even watch your children in the pool from your apartment through the tv)
Sheets and towels were changed at least twice a week and more frequently if required, flowers on the bed and towels folded like swans added that extra special touch.
A small accessible supermarket for those bits and pieces was very handy, a Tansas supermarket was only 5 mins away.
The staff absolutely made the holiday, nothing was too much trouble! Adam and the gang are just wonderful, even crazy frog attempted being a belly dancer on our turkish night! You'll be on tv yet!
We only ate on site a couple of times, but each time it was very reasonable. The staff are going to organise some trips, ie: boat, turkish bath etc which I am sure will be well attended.
Only one thing left to say, can't wait to come back and see you all again soon and thank you all for that warm welcome! Pam, Ken and June
" Just thought I would let you know... "
Submitted By: Miss F FarrellThe staff are so helpful and friendly, I was 4 months pregnant at the time and they always asked how I was feeling and how the baby was, nothing was too much for them. My fiance had a bad ear infection on the first Sunday of our stay and it was also a National Holiday so we could not find a chemist that was open, so the Manager of the apartments drove him all around Icmeler until he found a chemists and would not take any money from us.
There are plenty of good resturants near by but 2 of are Favorites (and have been for the past 4 years) are the Miami in the Old Village a ten min walk away the food is great and traditional and you are made to feel right at home, and Del Boys which is joined onto a shop also ten mins walk away up the hill, it is a little bit more expensive but still fantastic value for the amount of food you get.
We are going back to the Faber this June and taking our baby girl with us and also my Fiance's Mum and Dad.
Try it you will not be disappointed.

Advice: Quiet, friendly resort with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Love everything about it.
Activities: Visit the Light house, food is excellent and value for money
Good for: Beach
