Sea View Studios is set on the main strip of Perivolos with quiet/trendy/modern/traditional bars and tavernas- despite being so close it is really quiet from about 10pm a night until 2pm the next day. Loads of good tavernas- esp- Charlenas!! At 2pm-ishthe beach front comes... more

This was my annual week away with my oldest friend where we do nothing but eat, drink and catch up on gossip. Our holiday requests are simple...quiet, peaceful and clean/basic accommodation close to a nice beach. We got what we asked for. The studios were simple but very... more

Sea View studios are clean, airy and, by traditional Greek accommodation standards, comfortable. The resort is quiet, but if you are looking for a place to relax, unwind and enjoy some good food, then it really fits the bill. The major downside to travelling with Olympic is... more

Perivolos is a smaller resort but is continuing to grow. It is located on the southern tip of Santorini and has a black volcanic sand beach. It is very quiet with a few Tavernas, a couple of shops and is not suitable for night owls. Buses do run to the magnificent capital... more

Does what it says on the tin...
Our holiday here was very enjoyable. The accomodation is pretty basic - "well it is Greece" is a catchphrase on this site... ;o) - but clean, pretty well cared for, and in a good location feet from the beach. The only major negatives were the shower (very easy to flood bathroom) and an occasional smell of drains in the evening. Oh, and the pool area could have benefited from a bit more effort - just some fresh umbrellas and a bit of foliage would have made a real difference. Other than that, everyone was very friendly (Princess Irene is a little pushy, but you can't beat a little local colour hey...!), and Perivolos itself is nice if a little liimited in nightlife. When everything shuts at 8, wander down to Perissa where there's a much bigger selection of bars and restaurants. Santorini itself is brilliant, it's got that "up and coming" vibe that places have before they get overdeveloped and the "Brits abroad" arrive... ;o) Our top tips are the island tour (worth it for the volcano climb and sunset in Oia), and my personal favourite the old town of Emborio - it has the tiny winding streets of Pyrgos, but with none of the tourists and way more charm.
Very basic, in need of some TLC
Arrived late evening, to be greeted by princess Irene from the Meteor restaurant which is part of this complex, the greeting turned out to be a sales pitch so that you would eat at the Meteor. Which you should try, but there was far superior places to eat and watch they dont try and overcharge you.. At this meeting you were able to purchase Air Con priced at 45 euros and a safety deposit box for 10 euros per week. The rooms were very basic and needed some TLC, i.e new shower heads as water sprayed everywhere, windows cracked and the fridge was rusting away. There was limited kitchen utensils. Room was cleaned 3 days out of 6 and the beds changed once. The pool and surrounding area is very good, but has a lack of life saving equipment. The manager Oliver spoke no English and had a love for pigeons, which were situated at the back of the apartments in a hut. Overall this property is very basic but comfortable and extremely close to beach (1min away) if you dare walk on the hot black volcanic sand. Places to eat: This is up to you but they are good places all along the main beach front, i.e 'The best', Charlines- traditional travenas, Grandmas - very tasty Greek fast food and the Sunflower - excellent homemade pizzas. Note keep away from the travenas which have luxury sofas as these charge an arm and a leg for drinks (5+euros for a pint of local beer) The bus service is excellent and takes you to all the best places to explore.
Basic but clean a very relaxing Holiday
Stayed at the Sea View in Jun/Jul 08. The accomodation is basic as is most of greece. It is thoroughly cleaned daily by Oliver and Anna two Rumanians that work for the Greek owner. They were so friendly and helpfull, nothing was too much trouble. The pool at the hotel was clean and not too busy i.e. sunbeds and umbrellas always available. Just across the road is the black volcanic beach. Sunbeds and umberellas are charged for on the beach here (6 to 10 Euros). If you turn left out of the hotel and walk towards Perissa (half a mile) the sunbeds and brollies are free provided you use the beach bars. Recommended is the Blue Bay Palace, run by two hardworking teenage brothers who wont rip you off. Restaurants to try are the Volcano, the excellent value for money Gods Garden (turn left of the road to Perissa at the orange wall by the diving school) bread, wine of your choice, greek salad and mixed grill for two 18 euro's tasty and excellent value. Charlinas is another good place to eat as is the Best Restaurant. Stay away fron the poser bars, i.e the ones with the four poster, hammocks etc the drinks are twice as much here. If you are self catering - see Oliver he will call the local supermarket (The co-op) they will sen a min bus to collect you and run you back to the hotel after doing your shopping free of charge. Next to the Co-op is a 24 hour bakery, with bread, pies, cakes to die for! Hope you enjoy your stay in beautiful Santorini, do'nt fail to visit the Capital Thira and Oui to see the beautiful sunsets.
Sea View Apartment Review
After reading some of the reviews on trip advisor we decided to take a chance and book a stay at these apartments. We arrvived in the middle of the night, always dubious, and found our apartment staff very welcoming and friendly, especially considering it was 10pm. They even gave us a brief welcome meeting. Our apartment was spacious, plainly decorated and very clean, it had all the amenities you need, hob, enough cooking and eating utensils etc, fridge with a small freezer in the top section. There was air conditioning and a safe, both of which were extra but worth it. Oliver (the manager) and his wife were both very helpful and friendly throughout our holiday (without being intrusive) and tried to make sure that all the guests were comfortable and enjoying their stay. The pool area is small but did not get over-crowded and it was again very clean. The location of the apartments is excellent as it is not in a busy area although there is enough going on for it not to be quiet - you can get to sleep at night! All things considered I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay for couples and people wanting to relax - those on the look-out for 'the action' should head for Perissa or Kamari.
good value , basic studios
These studios are large and airy even with 4 beds and are cleaned to a very high standard by Oliver (kostas) and Anna. We booked through Olympic and flew with First Choice and couldnt fault either. The pool bar is about 30 yards in front of the property and the Alfa is only 2 euros, the Mythos 2.5 euros, the black sand beach is just across the road. Perivolos has something for all ages bars ,tavernas and clubs you can walk into straight off the beach. On arrival we were greeted by Princess Irene who runs the Meteora restaraunt/bar and we were gobsmacked . Dont let first impressions put you off, she is a very hardworking and knowledgable lady and will do her utmost to help you whilst on holiday. Watch out you dont get conned at Pleasure (next to the studios) a lovely bar with nice seats and loungers but charge crazy money for a pint and even more for cocktails! We only had a week in Santorini and although it has some fantastic features and landscape, is pretty much like most of Greece- why dont they finish things?Maybe that is the charm of Greece, the fact that they are so laid back and genuinely nice people only adds to the reason why we will keep going back there for many years to come.
Santorini is great- but not for little ones
Our family (two 30 somethings, a 3 and a half year old and a one and a half year old) have just returned from a weeks holiday at Sea View Studios. The accomodation was basic but good, One large airy room with 3 beds and a travel cot. A miniscule kitchen area with fridge/freezer and two hobs (no kettle). The sheets/towels and bins were changed every day except Sunday. Leftaris and the hotel staff were friendly and did a good job. We didn't pay for the air con we just wedged the doors open for the santorini breeze. Sea view is right on the beach, but also on the main road between Perissa -Perivelos which means loads of mopeds/cars/quad bikes beach buggys-you name it tearing down the road, not ideal when you are pushing a buggy or walking with little ones. The pool area is ok, but not any shade, we had to spend most of the holiday at the water park which was obviously more suitable for kids. 7 euros for adults and 5 for kids over 3, free for babies. I would agree with other peoples sentiments about 'Princess Irene' from the restaurant Meteora next door to Sea View, she is either on some sort of medication or needs to be, however reading the guest books they have in the restaurant reveal she is a much loved character from Perivelos and people do seem to keep going back so the madness must be rubbing off somewhere. In my opinion the food at Meteora is quite good but much of it is frozen according to the menu . Also they charged me 5 euros for a childs apple juice! Their Greek night on the monday was packed and is recommended though. I would also agree with others that Gods Garden restaurant is excellent and well worth the walk up near the waterpark (there is a sign on the main road) we ate all sort of wonderful food and wine for about 30 euros. We took the local bus(2 euros) up to Fira for the amazing sunset experience and that really is beautiful, don't forget your camera- completely different to perissa/perivelos. Lots of steps though so not ideal for the buggy brigade. In all we had a lovely holiday, but Santorini is not for kids, black sand is too hot, too many steps, no facilities for baby change etc... I would go back for a honeymoon or romantic holiday without the tiddlies..
Not bad for the price
Clean basic studio just off the main beach. Pool area is adequate, next to the bar is you get thirsty. Rooms are basic, but comfortable and clean. Lack of kitchen utensils can be a problem though. A fairly quiet location, largely child free, but spoilt by a minority of guests making noise and who had no consideration for other guests. I agree with a previous reviewer - Irene the bar/restaurant owner next to the hotel can be a little aggressive in tempting you to eat at her hotel. Nice woman but a little too pushy.
Very relaxing
We stayed at the Sea View Studios early in July, we found the accommodation very good, by greek basic standards. We stayed for 7 nights the room was of a good size but we put the single beds together to make a double bed, the bins changed daily and bedding the towel changed once, which was adequate. We hired the air con (at an extra charge) and proved to be more comfortable at night time. During the day we kept both doors open to let the beautiul breeze through the room. We hired a car for one day to explore areas not covered by local bus. The island is very beautiful and easy to explore by bus if you dont want to brave the roads in a car. Eating out was made very enjoyable by the great choice of tavernas.. we enjoyed the''The Best '(ONTHE BEACH FRONT )and the 'Gods Garden'(NEAR WATERPARK). All in All ......a very good relaxing holiday.
Excellent value apartments
These apartments are clean but basic. We had a 3 bedded room which probably gave us extra space and we could see the sea from our balcony. The pool was always crystal clear and in May was warmer than the sea! Leftaris doesn't speak much English but the two cleaners (forgotten their names, but they were lovely) spoke a little. The only fly in the ointment was Irene who ran the bar attached to the hotel and the restaurant next door and she tried to blackmail you into eating at her place all the time which made it difficult if you wanted to go out of hotel and turn right. However, most of us just walked along the beach so that she wouldn't see us! Or just said we had eaten. I can corroborate the other review about Dorians bar - it is lovely. Unfortunately although we were recommended to God's Garden we didn't find it and certainly Acropolis was excellent. The buses in May are obviously more erratic and they come every hour (but no-one knows at what time!). We waited for nearly 2 hrs one day, but, hey, we had nothing else to do and had an excellent day in Thira. Excellent size refrigerator with a 5" freezer section made a wonderful change. Also if you ring up the Co-op they will collect you and bring you back free of charge with your shopping. We normally walked up and they gave us a lift back - you need it with those large bottles of water! We booked through Olympic Holidays direct and at £609 for two people for 2 weeks, it was excellent value. We would certainly go again, but take a tin opener, a decent bread knife and a kettle. Air conditioning is available (payable locally) as is a safe. We didn't need the air con in May.
jewel in the med
just back from 2 wondeful weeks in beautiful santorini. stayed at the sea view studios in perivolos, which were very basic, however an ideal base for the island. Plenty pubs, restaurants and shops, and right on the beach as well. Public transport not a problem ( bus every half hour) and they take you to Thira (where you can change for Oia, Kamari) and not expensive! Rooms were very clean and the owner, Leftaris does all to help. Great pub to visit in Perissa, ( only 15min walk from Perivolos) is Dorian's Pub!! Nice relaxed atmosphere, music from the 50's, 60's and 70's and the cheapest pint and cocktails as well. the owner is lovely man who gives you a warm and friendly greeting in beautiful surroundings. Great restaurant to visit is God's Garden, ( jsut off main st Perissa, opp the Tobacco shop). Excellent meal and great value for money. Acropolis restaurant came 2nd. Beautiful island with breathtaking scenery and absolutely amazing sunset- well worth a visit!
