hi well i read some of the review's after booking saw some of them saying it was full of french, yes it was but did not find that a problem, how ever all the entertainment in french that was i went on a family holiday with my wife the kids with partners and grand daughter the hotel very nice the service excilent , i admit we missed the welcome meeting due to a four hour delay on flight so we did not get there till 8am the next day we were all tired and fell asleep, after a day or two and having a look around didnt see a lot going on for the english asked several guest's and they told me they had found nothing for the english did complain to the reps but got fobbed off twice, my daughter had her 27th birthday there we ended up sitting by one of the bars with some of the other english people but got bored and went to the room to play card's (some birthday ) got back this morning at 6.30am so thought i would put my review on, oh by the way be prepaired to climb steps (dont think they have this many going to the gate's of heaven ) if you want any more of my HONEST opinion razzerb2000@msn.com if iyou have already booked hope you have a nice stay if you havent booked READ THE REVIEWS
A Great Hotel !
from busbridge40
We have just returned from the Paloma Sultan and seemed to be staying at a different property to some of the other reviewers! It was very clean and well laid out with excellent facilities. The staff were all very friendly with the exception of the reception who were unhelpful and quite abrupt. The food was not exciting but quite adequate and suited the mixed nationalities of the guests. The drinks were quite limited for choice but plentiful. The juices were a bit sad tasting like they were made from powder like "Rise and Shine"(do they still make that?). The Hotel is in a nice location but the hotel bus running just once a week to Kusadasi could be improved. We had booked independently but ALL the Thomas Cook Reps made us more than welcome and put on shows to appeal to everyone. The only sllght downside was the time it took to explain everything in five languages! Overall a good stay and I would recommend it.
Dear anjemouse.....

All the activities are translated in french english dutch and german (and sometimes in turquish......) French , english and belgian animators animate together all the sport and entertainment activities At the reception they speak turquish french and english if you are kind and speak slowly At the bar with our english and french friends we never have problem ( only with some "big drink" folower full of tattoos who were not kind with the staf and the other guests......) in the children club you will find four english reps and four french reps......( wonderfull infrastructure and reps for the children) Verry nice holidays in international ambiance. Not recommanded for unilingual and uncommunicative guest...;-) Steph
Facilities good, shame about Managements obsession with catering to the french
from anjemouse
Sultan paloma should have been great. Great facilities, next to the beach, great buffet, friendly waiters, spacious, clean accomdation, good thomas cook reps but it WASN'T... The only reason i can't rave about it, is because of the poor skills of reception, if you don't run into any problems, you will have a great holiday. But if you need to use reception for anything, then you will run into problems. I found a number of them to be uncaring, and as if it was a great problem for them to sort out any issues you had. The manager was the exception to this rule, but it really lets this resort down. As many of them speak only turkish and french due to the large influx of french guests it was hard to get information from them. I also found english guests were treated as second class citizens. French guests were served first at the bars, and on the coach on the return home i heard a great many guests complaining that the childrens clubs only catered for french speakers. On a day trip ot Kusadasi market, the bus driver only communicated in french, and as a result, we misunderstood where to get the return bus, and as a result missed it. We had to get back to the hotel at our own expense. The entertainment was all in french. I love the french but the hotel should treat both english and french equally and cater for both. If you speak great french, then go, but if not, i think you may be a bit disappointed by your treatment by the management staff...
Loved Club Sultan
from Jackie89
We loved this hotel it was spotlessly clean, rooms cleaned daily. Food was very good with lots of choice, especially the desserts which were gorgeous. The two beaches were nice with free sunbeds/umbrellas and even cushions which were great. The british entertainment was quite poor but the french team made up for this and were very good both during the day and in the amphitheatre in the evening. We loved the pools, although very very deep, and no shallow end for kids. The grounds were immaculate although lots of steps could be a problem for some. The pedaloes and canoes were free and other water sports were available at reasonable prices. There was a spa but we didnt use it although again prices seemed okay. We visited Ephesus and Kusadasi market as well as going into Ozdere which was only a 20 min walk or 2 mins on Dolmus. This hotel is ideal for families, we had a really wonderful 2 weeks and would love to return soon!!
Great Value For Money in Lovely Surroundings
from cazz81
I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Club Sultan, we traveled over half term and I traveled with four of my best friends, all being girls in our 20's. We had an amazing time and the hotel is extremely good value for money. We had an awful flight with Thomas Cook (we were so cramped and I am extremely used to travelling on charter flights!). The transfer to the hotel takes approx 1 hour and I believe is normally direct. We arrived at the hotel and check in was quick & efficient, and they laid on a spread for us in the main restaurant (we arrived just before midnight) which was dinners left overs, but still a nice welcome. Because the hotel is so large you leave your suitcases at reception and they are taken to your room (this can be a lengthy wait). The Rooms... We were in a block located away from the main hotel and had rooms 3104 & 3106. The rooms were spotless and had everything you will need, including a fridge with a large bottle of water. The beds were comfy and the shower powerful!! If you wanted to be picky, there was a slight smell of damp in the wardrobes and paint was peeling in a few places. The Complex.... The complex is big and it does involve walking steps and quite steep hills, so I wouldn't recommend to anyone with walking disabilities. But I believe they do have golf buggies if necessary. It is so clean, they are constantly cleaning - I didn't see one bit of dirt/rubbish the whole time I was there. There are two beaches, both with lounges and shade. One of the beaches had watersports, non motorised free and such things as parasailing at a very reasonable price. There are also two pools, one being lively with entertainment and quite a bit of shade (the Turkish sun is very strong!) and the Infinity pool which is amazing. The only problem was getting sun loungers... The hotel was busy over our stay as half term and people were going up to the infinity pool between 6-7am to place their towels. I find this so annoying as so many occasions they were left vacant nearly all day and then families would appear at 3pm saying they had been to the market in Ozdere - arrghhh! In the end we had to start doing this as we couldn't get any spaces up there and it became a bit of a pain, my friend got up of her sun lounger to put her sun cream on and a French lady tried to take the lounger away! Amusing but a little frustrating. The lively pool appealed to the French more. The waterpark looked great, but I don't know if it says in the brochure it is only open for *1 hour* a day! between 1030-1100 and 1600-1630 - very strange and I imagine disappointing to many children. The Food... For an all inclusive (and in Turkey were they are renowned not to be great) I thought the quality and choice was fantastic. I am a fussy eater and found something to enjoy every evening. Breakfast - Served in the main restaurant. Had a great choice, with freshly prepared omelette's with your choice of fillings, bread, jams & conserves, cereals, croissants (if you were quick enough), hot choices and pastries. Lunch - Because I had such large breakfasts I didn't ever have lunch in the main restaurant but I did have lunch in the "A La Carte" restaurants a couple of times. The food was OK and was a bit hit or miss, with such choices as Cheeseburgers, Pizza, Southern Fried Chicken, Salads, steaks etc. But cannot say they were very appetizing. Dinner - We ate in the main restaurant and the Italian, the choices were limitless. We really enjoyed the Italian, you do not have a menu its set but as an idea we had - Mozzarella & Tomato, Spinach & ricotta Tortellini, Ceasar salad, Beef steak with aubergine & peppers and Tiramusu to finish! Very good! Yum! Snacks - This was the only disappointing thing, there weren't any snacks! They advertise snack bars but we couldn’t find any?? But hey may be we were being greedy. The waiters are really friendly and helpful and all spoke English. Look out for Mehmet the supervisor he is extremely helpful and has a great sense of humor! Drinks... All soft drinks are readily available and there are fruit juices around so you & children can help yourselves. The alcoholic choices are very limited and is obviously only local brands. Entertainment... The English entertainment was not very appealing but the on site entertainment team worked so hard and were so friendly, and although mostly in French, most of the participating people were French! If us English were joining in they would speak in both languages. I feel I should mention Anis, he was brilliant! Always chatting to everyone and made everyone feel extremely welcome. We travelled in to Kusadasi one day and this was 70 lira return and well worth the visit, we had a great meal and got lots of bargains! Tips…. * The best currency to use is Euro's although they will take sterling and lira as well * Ignore the comments about the French in other reviews, we found them friendly! It was the English as always being a pain! * There were some unhappy English customers on the last day, as they were all requiring late check out rooms - and there were not any left. They proceeded to give the rep a hard time. YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED A LATE CHECK OUT ROOM IF YOU WANT ONE, PRE BOOK IT WITH THOMAS COOK BEFORE YOU TRAVEL. However, the hotel obviously laid on courtesy rooms free of charge and we were allowed it for an hour, more than enough time to get showered and ready for the journey home! I would recommend this hotel, not sure if I could go for two weeks as it is in such a remote area (and I like to have a stroll about but we knew this before we travelled & for this reason I probably wouldn't return but only for that reason). The hotel is everything it claims to be and more, go and have a chilled out relaxing time! I will be returning to Turkey at some stage soon as this has given me a fantastic taster! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any more info!
We absolutely loved Club Sultan
from maggie023
We visited Club Sultan on recommendation and were not disappointed. Our rooms were bright, airy and immaculately clean. The complex is beautiful very scenic and exceptionally well maintained. The food was superb and service excellent . The staff on reception were always very pleasant and helpful to us. The majority of guests are French say about 75% but we found them pleasant and polite, no rowdiness or drunks. The French entertainment team were great they were also multi-lingual so it was worth going to see their shows in the ampitheatre as the humour translated across all languages. The English entertainment team were completely outclassed perhaps they will get better as the season wears on. The swimming pools were beautiful especially the infinity pool. There are also the water slides are open for one hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon it was lovely to see anticipation of the faces of the children coming up to opening times. Although our kids have all grown up we thought it was a really safe place for children and teenagers, enough space for them to wonder but not too much for parents to worry. It was great to be able to collect clean beach towels every day and not have to worry. We would definately go back and have recommended Club Sultan to friends and family who want a very relaxing holiday in superb surroundings.
hard work

on arrival we where treated like we had just arrived from outer space very impersonal. we where told where to find our room which was clean and ok then we waited for our cases an hour went by and nothing after phoning reception i was told 2 mins another 15 went by i went back myself there they where sitting on the road side enjoying the sunshine mmmmmmmmmmm this was the continued attitude of the staff they coould not be bothered with anyone, everything was an effort the reps where in my opinion as good as useless. i exspect to be treat well not over the top and slavery but with the respect we deserve after all im the pay cheque to these people. the complex itself is excellent but they spoil it with the food and drink it looks beautifull set out and colourfull but it tastes of blotting paper theres no flavour at all. this could be a very good holiday if it was managed properly look at somewher else if your paying top price take it if its a cheapy of the net

The Paloma had everything. It is a small city which is completely self contained if that is what you want. You do not need to step one foot out of the complex as it does have everything from tennis courts to scuba diving opportunities. It was immaculately cleaned, and had lots marble steps which for older people may be a problem. The complex offers clean and well stocked restraurants, cafes, bars and a shop. The swimming pools were lovely. For small children there were two pools, there was a slide pool which had 7 different slides - two which my youngest could go on and five which I could go on - wicked, an adult pool which is lush and a all-round pool for everybody. Lots of loungers which even the Germans couldn't all fill. There are two private beaches one of which is active and has all the watersports. Bars were next to all the main pools. All the staff were pleasent and friendly and tried to speak english although the main hoIiday visitors were actually French so they spoke french fluently. I can't speak french but I did not have any problem communicating with anyone. The room we had was a family room which was situated in a block which looked rather like a row of town houses. It was beautifully maintained and cleaned everyday. New towels were given when you needed them - you just left the old towels on the floor and new folded ones appeared! The beds were changed every other day and I have to say I felt like I was a child again and just left all our belongings all over the room and a magical fairy came along and tidied up for us. Lovely. I have two young children of 7 and 5 both of whom were throughly depressed by having to leave after our 14 days were over. We did use the kids club and the staff were lovely and the security second to none. The Kids Club itself had fair facilities but the staff made good use of the hotel facilities and all the children had fun. The restraurant area was huge and had lots of variety and was cleaned all the time. Lots of staff who were always willing to get your drinks. For us Brits chips were available along with pastas, rice, all sorts of potatoes, salads, eggs, meats, fish - the list is endless. It also has a Italian retraurant which is well worth the visit - yum. Ozdere which is the nearest town can be got to by a 15min walk and to get to Kusadasi you need use a taxi or dolmas and does take about 50mins but is worth the visit. Lots of goodies there. The entertainment by the British team was limited but had only started two weeks before we arrived and did get better by the time we left. The Fench team really did work hard and translated everything they said into English. They were good and had lovely props. We had a lovely time and I am not sure that it can be surpassed.
went sept 2011 had the best holiday and booked to go back. Don't pay any attention to the negative comments - theres always 1 who carn't be pleased - there are hills and steps but you can use the transport supplied to get you around the complex. infinity pool fab - the view... more
