" absolutely brillant "

having read all the reviews before I went, I can only say that those who gave negative reviews must be on a different planet. My daughter (9) and I had a fantastic time. The hotel was spotlessly clean with cleaners coming in every day to change the towels and make the beds. We had a lovely view of the private beach. Even the toilets by the pool were spotless. The food was brillant so much to chose from and even the fussiest of eaters could not complain and again the staff were friendly, helpful and when I fell over reps and waiters were there to assist me and the same when my daughter was not well everybody was there to assist me once again. Yes the complex is massive and there is a lot of steps but lovely scenery and once you work out the short cuts its not a problem. The entertainment was dominated by the amount of French in the resort but those French certainly know how to enjoy themself and it becomes infectious. My daughter enjoyed all the entertainment and joined in even when it was in French. The main man who ran the entertainment (Anis) spoke 8 languages and did his best to translate. There were shows by the kids, Turkish dancing, discos, beach parties, canoe races and lilo races. There was always something going on, whether it be yoga, darts, water polo, aerobics for the more enthusiastic. The water slides opened twice a day - whoever said 15 mins must have been in a diferent resort, 10-12 and 3-5. The lifeguards were brillant and I felt my daughter was safe enough so that I did not have to always sit at the waters edge but sat back at the local bar and enjoyed a few beers while still being able to keep an eye on her. The Thomas Cook reps and kids world ladies - all English were fantastic. My daugther got sun stroke and spent several days in kids world to keep out of the sun. They kept her entertained and she had a fab time, they even brought her to me when she had had enough. Well done to Becky, Samatha, Lucy, Jessica and Keiron (hired by Thomas Cook) they really made our holiday. They also suggested two trip out one to Kusadasi for shopping - be prepared to say NO to the Turkish men they get very unhappy if you do not buy something. I did get a lovely Prada bag and it only cost £20 and 5 pinchs of my bottom. We also went to Adeland where it was a giant water park with a wave pool and a spa bath, another great day out, this also included a dolpin show and my daughter was able to swim with the dolphins and we got a professional photo all for £90. Finally I do agree that the men at the airport are a pain they grab your bags before you can say no and then want tipping - they lost out there they should have asked first. We have only been back two days and I have already rung Thomas Cook to book next years - 10 days this time as I felt 7 days went to quickly. In all a fab holiday and Thomas Cook really did us proud from begging to end

Advice: never actually went into Ozdere as there was too much to keep us entertained in the resort

Activities: Adeland water park and dolphin show

Good for: Beach

" Amazing but some points to bare in mind "

We booked this holiday near christmas for an amazing price and i can't believe what an amazing holiday it was. The food is great with endless deserts, ice cream, afternoon snacks, unlimited drinks (fanta went down well)although no sausages or bacon for breakfast. The rooms were comfortable. The grounds were hilly but beautiful and there was a shuttle bus which we never used because we wanted to burn off all the food we ate. We had elderly people in our party which the walking wasn't great for them. Its also dimly lit at night and my nan had a fall down the concrete stairs but the hotel was brilliant. Withing seconds a firstaider and then doctor were on site. She was whisked away to a private hospital for x-rays, drips and heart scans all of which we didn't have to pay out and then claim back. The resort is spread out so although it is a big place you never saw many people all in one place which gives it a small friendly feel. Plenty of sunbeds, room in the 2 large pools and on the 2 private beaches. The hotel is multi-national and we came across equal amounts of British, French, German, Belgium and Turkish but that didn't bother us because we don't really want to go on holiday to socialise with other guests. We made use off all the free activities like cannoeing and pedaloes. We also went off the site to see Turkey itself. A shopping trip to Kusudassi is well worth the 40min dolmus ride and a boat trip is definatly your thing if you like to sunbath, visit beautiful locations and have a bbq. We only had a week and i would recommend 10 days as we wanted to visit the hot springs and maybe Ephasus. Ozdere village is a 5min walk away just up a small hill or easy to reach bu dolmus which comes by every few mins tooting at you to see if you want a lift.Good for nipping in shops but not great if you want all the good quality fakes which are found in Kusudassi. The only things i would day bad are the shop owners try to drag you in there shops, one shopping trip we went in a group of only 2 and got pulled in for tea, chats and shown every item and always ended up buying things. Also do not give you bags to anyone as they try to grab them at the airport and charge for walking it up a small hill to the buses. The Belboys at the hotel where also a bit shocking. You didn't get a choice as they took your bags off you when you arrive and bring them up 5mins later and then linger until you tip them. Tips should be an option. A fantastic resort and i would definatly go back if it wasn't for the limited availability and steep summer holiday charges.

Advice: Ok location but easy to get about bu dolmus

Activities: Kusudassi shopping

" The best hotel we've ever been to "

We came back from the club sultan two days ago and are already booking to go back in October. We had an amazing time and I cannot find a single bad thing to say about the hotel. I was apprehensive after reading other reviews but could not believe people could moan so much about small things when we thought it was amazing! There are a lot of French but also enough English that we didn't feel too outnumbered. The entertainment was fantastic and yes some of it was in other languages but still easy to follow and the animation team were brilliant at including everybody in the shows so we throughly enjoyed each and every one. The kids club reps were brilliant and our children (who are normally quite shy and reserved) enjoyed themselves everyday and even ended up on the stage dancing by the end of the week.
The hotel is maintained and cleaned to a high standard and our room was cleaned and we were given fresh towels daily.
The food was great with a large and varied choice everyday and although the food was not typically English (no bacon and sausage at breakfast) why would there be its Turkey?! We always enjoyed our meals and even our fussy kids managed to eat more than enough each day.
The complex is huge and there are a lot of hills and steps (my legs were aching for the 1st few days)but the gorgeous setting makes up for the walking involved. The pools are massive (even the kids section)and the infinity pool in stunning and there more than enough sun loungers (and beach towels are provided) to go round without having to get up early to put your towels out. Granted the main slides are only open for and hour in the morning and in the afternoon but we did not find this a problem because by the time you had run up the steps a few times you had had enough anyway! The childrens slides were open all day.
The beaches were lovely and another added bonus was the pedalos and canoes to use for free and for a small charge there were a whole variety of other watersports available.
There was so much to do we didn't feel the need to leave the hotel so we only ventured out of the hotel once for a shopping trip to Kusadasi which was a another great experience.
All in all this is a great hotel and I would definately recommend it to my friends and family.

" Perfect Holiday "

With the reviews so varied, I arrived with a very open mind, but was not disappointed. Excellent food, beautifully presented. Our large room had a fantastic sea view. The large grounds were very well maintained. All staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The whole site was kept spotlessly clean.
Yes, it did have a high proportion of french, although there were also a fair few germans and belgians, but we chose to go abroad for heaven's sake so why would we expect it to be anything other than foreign! Some of this hotel's detractors should go no further than an english bed and breakfast close to a McDonalds...
The point about the porters on arrival at Izmir airport is a valid one, however. Hang on to your luggage unless you are prepared to haggle to get it back!
So, go with an open mind and look forward to being pampered, well looked after, well fed and relaxed.

Advice: The town of Ozdere itself has little to offer, but there are frequent local buses to venture further

Activities: Ephesus

" what a fab holiday "

I have just returned home from turkey and I found everything about this hotel excellent. the staff gave my little sister lots of attention and they were very friendly. The areas were kept spotlessly clean and rooms had full service everyday.I would give it 5 star!
The food and drinks were amazing. there was a huge choice of main meals, salads, cold meats and puddings. this was breakfast, lunch and dinner.
there was a huge choice of things to do for example water slides, childrens rides, and if parents want a break children can go to a kids club which runs all day long! there was everything there that you would want.
I noticed people had been complaining about the french but i dont know why because they were lovely people and there is no way that the french had lots more entertainment than the english! ITS NOT TRUE!IT IS NOT A WASTE OF MONEY TRUST ME!
There was one thing. When we were staying there we were in our room and we heard an almighty crash in our bathroom. we went in and we found the tiles had fallen off by the sink! we went to tell the main desk and they were really good. they said we will have a look at it and in the morning someone came round straight away to fix it.
THAT IS WHY I GAVE IT 10/10!

Advice: do come and visit you wuold really enjoy it and you would love the villages around it

Activities: I liked all the restaurants in the hotel and there is lots of activities to do!

Good for: City Breaks

"  PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE U BOOK TO... "

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE U BOOK TO THIS RESORT I URGE ANY ENGLISH FAMILY TO AVOID GOIND THERE I WOULD NOT GO BACK IF IT WAS FREE. Well were do i start at first arriving we had no rep to take us to the resort just a mini bus with a turkish guy who could not speak a word of english. we were put right away from the resort on a second floor knowning that we had 2 small babies when i ask to move they just said they had no rooms available. the hotel is 95% full of french and they r the most rudest people i have ever met all the food is catered for them. i expect when i go to a different country to hear and eat there food but not in this resort all the staff speak french aswell they could not care a less about the english guests. We had no entertainment for the english is was all for the french. unless u call a load of old men and women doing a stupid dance around the pool which we laughed at everyday, It is not a family resort at all. People do say hello but as soon as they know u r english they won't speak again. the kids rides r only open for 15 mins everyday as well as the waterslides which they does not say in the holiday books and the kids have to be over 4 to go on them. the holiday cost me and my family nearly £3000 i think it is a rip off.
The resort is said hilly but that is not the word it is not for people with walking problems or disabled. The food is the same thing all the time. when we booked a all inclusive we didn't expect to still pay for kids face painting and for baking cakes in the kids club i thought we had paid enough for the holiday in the first place. we felt in this hotel that they didn't want us to mix at all and if it wasn't for meeting some great english people then we would have had a crap time. PLEASE I CANNOT SAY IT ANY OTHER WAY DON'T GO TO THIS RESORT IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY.

" At the airport dont let the men put... "

At the airport dont let the men put your luggage on the trolly and take it to the bus for you if you dont want to pay, they took ours and then when we got to the bus they demanded £2 per bag we had no money and only lira notes, while he argued with a family about there bags we stole ours back they should have told us they wanted money in the first place.

The hotel is lovely our room was the furthest from the main restaurant near the windmill, they said it was a 20 min walk but it wasnt it took about ten and if your lazy like me there is a free bus to take you from the windmill to the reception that runs at certain hours through the day. The rooms are nice not special but we only slept, washed and changed in there. The staff are nice and frendly but other guests can be rude and inconsiderate, mostly french aswell, on or second and third night we were woken up at 4 in the morning to the french playing the thong song really lound and shouting, we called the reception and they came straight away and dealt with which was great, te rest of the holiday we had a french couple next door that had conversations with each other at the top of their voices and the female laughed with a horrid shriek very annoying and even tho we booted the wall they carried on.

The food is very repetetive and i am one of the fussiest eater ever i lived on chicken in bread crumbs and pasta and bolognaise my partner isnt fussy so he was ok but still never full. The italian is lovely but a set meal so no choosing off a menu that we expected.

the beaches are lovely we always went on the one nearest to the windmill it was quiet how i like and the sea is lovely. The activity pool does get full but no need to put towels down at silly oclock we usually went at about 10 and still got a seat near pool side the infinity pool was always packed which annoyed me as the earliest we went down was half 7 and still all beds were covered with towels.

the entertainment is mainly for french but a few things are done by the english reps we had a lot of sleep this holiday simply because we were bored on an evening except tuesday which is quiz night that kept us amuzed just enough to stay awake

There are lots of insects so take insect repellent when i went to mexico i wasnt bit at all here i had loads of irritating bites.

If you dont mind french are not picky with food this is a beautifull place but honestly i wouldn't go here again

" Just back from paloma club sultan and... "

Just back from paloma club sultan and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. As for other reviews that said some unfavourable things about the french guests we had no problems what so ever even though we dont speak any french we still communicated after a fashion and got on really well with them. There was no pushing or queue jumping either that I saw. The only small thing that I noticed was that if you wanted a sunbed by the infinity pool then you had to be very early but we went to the small quiet beach and always got a sunbed and it only took a couple of minutes to walk to the pool. Overall a great time and the hotel is always kept spotlessly clean.

" just come back from 2 weeks all... "

just come back from 2 weeks all inclusive at the club sultan and had a wonderful time.staff very friendly and attentive at meal times, grounds spotless and people constantly sweeping and keeping place tidy.reps claire(now transferred to corfu, all the best there)caroline, lindsay, chris and kris were very friendly and helpful and present at times printed on board. The food was very good and a wide selection also and with 3 meals if wanted a day no wonder i put on half a stone with the sweets being particularly irresistable.People fail to realise u go abroad to try other countries cuisine they r not there to just produce food we find as the norm so fresh fruit and local veg r used and r very tasty.the only drawback is with the hotel catering mainly for french people most of entertainment is in french and as only 100 to 150 english and 800 to 900 french im afraid we r the poor relations, the reps try their hardest but attendance at english shows sparse whereas french ones packed out due to larger numbers,ALSO COOPERATION BETWEEN FRENCH AND ENGLISH REPS(ALL WORK FOR THOMAS COOK) NEEDS LOOKING AT , ONE INCIDENT WAS KRIS HAD TOLD THEM IN MORNING MEETING THET HE NEEDED MICROPHONE AT ABOUT 12 SO COULD DO SOME GAMES FOR ENGLISH KIDS IN KIDS POOL STARTED THEN FRENCH REP CAME AND TURNED IT OFF THEN TOOK IT OFF HIM AND SAID FRENCH PEOPLE SLEEP BETWEEN 12-3 AS IF WE DIDNT EXIST SUPPOSE TO CATER FOR EVERYONE VERY CHILDISH.it is hilly and is perhaps not suitable for disabled people or people with walking difficulties. the infinity pool is the biggest i have ever seen and at being 4-5 feet deep is ideal for adults and kids alike only if u want a sunbed get up at 6:30 to get your towels out or u wont get one round the infinity pool we started putting ours out at 12:30 at night to beat em so no early morning wakeups.the water slides open 10-12 and 3-5 every day were great with lifeguards present ,on the 2 beaches sunbeds and sunshades r present with kayaks and pedalos and other watersports.all in all a very good holiday but in august very hot 34+ every day .a little gripe would be more for kids aged 11 to 15 to do on an evening the one exception being the foam party what a scream that was our son enjoyed it immensly

" It was the nicest place I have ever... "

It was the nicest place I have ever been on holiday to. Although the area it's situated in is pretty remote, there was no need to go anywhere else as there are two gorgeous private beaches (just a bit of seaweed) and 2 pools, one of them being 3 sizes bigger than a normal pool.
The food was amazing, and the people who have written that there's no variety is a big lie because there's a huge amount to choose from and every night is different. The restaurants are also lovely and they all have great views. Too much food at Artimes though. Bars also good. Staff were lovely, all very friendly
Lots of activities to do in the day like banana boats and plenty of trips organised by the reps :). However nearly all the things in the day were French as they make up about 90% of the population in the resort... NOT a lot for teenagers. I'm 17 and I was expecting more but the disco didn't get full and no english people :( but it's great for families and relaxing
Also SUPER DUPER clean and our cleaner was soooo nice. Rooms also great- superior rooms spacious with great views.
Loved it!! Awesome holiday :D

" This was the best holiday we have... "

This was the best holiday we have ever had and I rebooked for 2008 as soon as we came home. We travelled with our 4 children aged 1, 4, 6 and 9 and hoped for the best - we got it. The hotel is truely beautiful. It is a large complex and there is an amount of walking involved but this was a pleasure as the gardens are so lovely and well kept. There are good brick paved pathways everywhere that are accessible for puchchairs. The french guests were a bonus for us as they were very pleasant and knew how to enjoy a family holiday - many of them were there with teenagers, grandparents and young children and I can only aspire to such admirable unity.

We only really used the main restaurant. There was no need to go elsewhere as the food, wine and beer was great, the service fantastic and the setting just breathtaking - the many tables that are set outside under large sunshades overlook a small cove and you can watch the sun set every night as the children are rounded up by enthusiastic (french) staff and taken to the children's disco on a special bus dressed as a boat. This gives parents an hour to themselves to enjoy another glass off wine or two before joining the children in the amphitheatre for the evening show. We got to know the waiters quickly as they were very friendly and they always kept our favourite table for us and played with the children if they started to wander off.

The only thing that was a little disappointing was the english entertainment staff who really were superfluous and put to shame by their french counterparts who did everything in English, French. German and Turkish. There was therefore no need for separate English entertainers and I think Thomas Cook should just have one entertainment team. The french team really were great and worked very closely with the hotel staff to provide a truely fantastic service. As they both said, their motto was; "If the children are happy then you're happy". When my daughter smashed a plate full of food in the middle of a busy restaurant and the manager rushed over to say it was fine and that I should go and sit down whilst he helped her re-fill another plate, I could have kissed him. It is kindness such as this that enables an otherwise stressed out parent to actually relax.

This is the first all inclusive I have ever been on and I was very impressed with the quality of the food and wine. The ice cream for the children as only available at meal times but was good quality. There was a small shop in the complex for toys and ice creams etc and this was reasonably priced. The diving and jet skis were also extra but again were reasonable and much enjoyed by my husband and eldest son.

We took a trip to Ephesus which was OK but I think that next time we will hire a car and do another trip by ourselves as the pace became too much for the younger children.

All in all I cannot recommend this lovely hotel too highly to families seeking a relaxing fun time in Turkey: I can't wait to go back.

" Have never been to Turkey before and... "

Have never been to Turkey before and was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and welcoming the Turkish people are. Hotel was fantastic, spotlessly clean and continually being cleaned. Wonderful gardens. Room was spacious with fab views and excellent sevice from bell boys, cleaners and reception staff. Food great and always available with good variations. However, entertainment left much to be desired, not looking for class one acts, but there was nothing of interest over the two weeks in the evening as everything was in French apart from the one Turkish night which was good. The one English show was dissappointing, although they dealt very well with a power cut half way through the show. Didn't see much of the main line rep, but the kids seemed to be enjoying themselves when we saw them with the kids club reps. All in all tho a very good holiday and if you don't mind listening to french talking all the time then this is a great resort to relax in and return with a sun tan.
