Great view
The view from our room was wonderful watching both the sunrise & sunset over the Bay of Naples. The location was away from the noise of downtown Naples. Very helpful hotel staff. If we are ever back in Naples will stay here again.
Only OK
Million dollar (or Euro) view! One of the most spectacular views I have ever had from a hotel room. But the view is really the only reason to stay here. Room was ok, but dark. There was a wedding reception one of the nights in the hotel's restaurant. From our room it sounded as though the piano and hundreds of guests were in the room with us! After midnight we inquired at the front desk how long the intolerable noise would continue and got an indifferent response. Finally ended around 2am, and this was a week night! Breakfast was was... more
Best area
We stayed for 4 days at the beginning of March 2005. situated in a good quiet clean area of Naples. The hotel is clean and friendly, the view over Naples Bay is magnificent. a good cold buffet breakfast, but the evening meal is not good value. If you do not pay the extra for the sea views the rooms do face a wall a few feet away which is dissapointing but if you are out all day does it really matter when you can sit in the lounge enjoying the panoramic view. The hotel is easily accessible via the funicular railway to Mergellina Square,... more
Beautiful View but Remote
We stayed at Hotel Paradiso Nov.30-Dec.1, 2004. The Best Western hotel is in the mountains overlooking the Bay of Naples and is a beautiful location. Unfortunately, there's not much to do in the area, and Naples was not appealing. To see Pompeii again, we would stay in Rome and take a day train trip.
Fine Hotel
We have stayed here 3 times now and plan to return some more. The view is fabulous. The food is excellent, not only for breakfast but try dinner in the beautiful dining room looking over the Bay. THe rooms are nice, and public transportation is easy with the funicular nearby. A great day trip for people who love to walk is walking down hill and along the Bay to the other end of town. The staff is helpful and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.
Wouldn't do it again
First the strong points, the view and the fact that you can get away from a very intense central Naples for a break. But thats about it. Time from getting off our train to the time we got to our room was 1hour 25 minutes using public transportation, by the end of our 4 days, we had it down to about 50 minutes. First room on the lowest floor had a small window letting in no light, looking up through the window you could see the service alley. The bathroom/toilet was "semi-functional" so we asked to change rooms. Reception told us... more
AWAY FROM THE MADDENING CROWD
We spent 2 nights here in June 2004. With good directions, we had no trouble driving to the hotel. Once there, we used public transportation and found it simple and easy. The Neopolitans could not have been more helpful. For 1 Euro we would buya token good for 90 minutes on any means of public transportation. From the hotel terrace the view was fantastic, the breakfast terrific, although served by grumpy waiters, and the front desk staff most helpful. The rooms were clean and well appointed albeit small. A fabulous restaurant a short... more
Noisy vacation
What can you say about staying in a hotel on the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius as your scenery. Well, the view from many of the hotel's balconies is great. But what you gain in surroundings you lose at night with the noise. This hotel had to be the noisiest I've ever been in. The problem isn't in the hotel, but from the streets below. You hear everything, especially at night. Close your door you say? Can't because they don't have air conditioning. So what you hear are the constant noise of traffic, mopeds, garbage trucks et al; cats and... more
Far away from it all....
The view, the view, the view. This is the reason to stay here. The view is unbelievably beautiful and better than most any hotel in Naples. The rooms are clean and well equipped, the staff is helpful and friendly, the breakfast is excellent. If your room is not going to have a view, you might want to reconsider staying here, because there is nothing at all close to this hotel. No place to eat, nothing to see. Its all about the view. All the sights and sounds of Naples are a 10 euro taxi ride away. We never figured out the public... more
Disappointed
We thought it would be a hoot to stay at this highly-rated hotel that bears the same name as me - but we were greatly disappointed. Somewhat of a concrete jungle, very difficult to get to by car, and the restaurant and food were average at best. The best part of the stay was the breakfast which was allowed on the outisde terrace. Don't even bother going unless you can request a room with a view or you'll be facing a busy street and feel like you are anywhere but overlooking the Bay of Naples.
