The biggest downside of Paros is the getting there. You have to take a ferry from Mykinos, which takes about 2 hours, so overall it is a long journey. But boy is it worth it once you arrive, you quickly forget your travel fatigue and appreciate the beauty of Paros. The pace of life here is sedate and you quickly adjust to the saying “Time does not matter”. There are numerous sandy beaches on the island, some are hidden, and water is crystal clear and ideal for swimming. Blue is the colour. Evenings are low key and revolve around an extended meal with drinks at one of the excellent Tavernas. Naoussa itself is in the north of the island and is one of the more isolated resorts,(but none of them are built up and touristy) which was great as we wanted a get away from it all holiday.
Our accommodation at the Ilios Apartments in Naoussa were lovely. The rooms were simple but comfortable and there was a swimming pool here with sunloungers surrounded by the whitewashed buildings. The centre, if it can be called that is 10 minutes away but the nearest mini market for our everyday needs was only 3 minutes walk away. If you want a true Greek holiday, a slow pace of life and pure relaxation this is the place to come. Otherwise it is not for you. Certainly most suited to couples.
