Just returned from a week a Stephania...

Just returned from a week a Stephania hotel in Amarinthos what can I say apart from don't go there food awful very limited choice in meals and always cold! The rooms are ok apart from the showers which you need to be about 3 feet in height to use or similar, no entertainment in hotel at all very expensive for drinks and god do they vary in price, didn’t manage to work that one out at all!
Air Scotland are the worst airline I have ever used there check-ins are hopeless the longest check-ins I have come across and the air crew are not very pleasant either! To top this wonderful holiday off they managed to completely wreck both our suitcases well done!
The pool in the hotel is not very clean I personally would not use it please think carefully before you book this holiday we will not return. Don't bother to complain it makes no difference.

Worst holiday ever and that bad that...

Jul 2006, Mr J Mina

Worst holiday ever and that bad that we left after 1 day. The rep was invisible, the location was terrible and the dog next door did nothing but bark for the short time we were there!
The food was rubbish and the pool (if you could call it that) was dirty and full of leaves from the surrounding trees. The hotel itself was relatively clean but in the middle of no where.
The town was messy, dirty and not for Brit's at all. Good luck trying to find English menus or drink!
Worst mistake ever and don't be fooled by the nice pictures online and good reviews (I think the hotel staff must write these). Every person we spoke to at the hotel was angry and upset with the place and the rep jumped off the bus on the mainland and wasn't scheduled to appear for 2 days after our arrival.
This is maybe a decent holiday for someone over 75 contempt with shady hotel food and not looking for your usual holiday spoils.
Not a place for kids and when we complained about the pool we were advised that it had been cleaned the day before - well I wouldn't like to see what it looked like after a couple of days but no one would let they're kids near the pool.
Don't expect any peace either as the damn dogs across the road do nothing but yelp 24-7.
After 22 hours we had had enough and got a taxi back to Athens airport and went down to Rhodes for a wonderful week (shame about the extra cost but well worth it)
DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION AS YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Well...... it was not what I expected. The hotel itself was fine, nice and clean, MOST of the staff were fine but not alot to do.
This is an ideal holiday for an older couple who just want to sit by the pool or the very small beach and do nothing, just relax. The beach was very small but clean, did not venture into the pool as read some reviews before going and i did not want to have an ear infection while on holiday.
The food was fine if you are not a fussy eater.
The island is very very quiet mainly catered for the Greeks. Some nice small towns around but again not much to do or see. The views are lovely and if you like seafood you will be fine.
Met alot of lovely people and that’s what saved the holiday for me. Not an ideal holiday for a young couple looking for a nightlife as there is none or a family with young children.
Overall it was an experience but I wouldn't do it again.
i spent most of my holiday looking after the stray dog that lived next door to the hotel.

Aug 2005, Not Specified

I spent 1 week in a town called Amarinthos on the Greek Island of Evia.
Evia Island is part of the Sporades island group.Evia is connected to the mainland via a bridge therefore doesn’t always get referred to as one of the Greek Island’s, but hey....it sure is.
Anyway, I stayed at the Stefania Hotel which was very well equipped.....swimming pool, bar, snack bar, air conditioned rooms (with TV & phone), 24hr reception, TV lounge with net access, private beach... (the hotel is right on the beach), beach bar.....all in very good condition.
The only drawback with the hotel was the food. Not that bad but not that good. My wife hated most of the food but I tend to eat anything (lol) so I thought it was ok.
This part of Greece is where alot of Greeks spend their holidays and is relatively unknown outside of Greece. Therefore no lager louts.....in fact no-one at all (lol). Do NOT expect full English breakfast anywhere in this part of Greece....it hasn’t arrived yet, so depending on which way you look at it, it’s not a bad thing.
This was a great relaxing holiday. Not much to do apart from chilling out (considering the heat...melting out would be more apt).If you like to get out and about Athens is about 1.5-2 hours away and there are many towns scattered about the island
If you want a relaxing break then this was fine....if you are looking for pubs clubs etc. This is not for you.
All in all a good holiday, well worth what I paid for....Great value for money.
