" I stayed here late September 2006 and... "

I stayed here late September 2006 and it was lovely and quiet. The accomodation came with a hob, microwave, kettle etc in the kitchen and was enough to make a snack or breakfast. The apartment was spotless and cleaned every day by extremely helpful and friendly staff. There was a separate bathroom with shower which was adequate.

We paid extra to have the air conditioning on but it is in every apartment if you need it.

The staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. We hired a car from Greekstones (very good prices) half way through the week which was great as the bus from Svoronata is only twice a day. I would recommend a car for the whole week.

The menu at the bar was not extensive but all very nice and often we would be given a free plate of fruit afterwards.

There was a small shop but it only stocked the very basic items. We walked approx 1km to the nearest mini market and restaurant (which was fantastic).

The beaches are further away than advertised in the holiday brochures so be prepared for a walk. It took us a least 30 minutes to reach any amenities and with small children in the heat it can be a bit tiring.

I would recommend the day trips as very good value especially if you decide against hiring a car as they get you around all the best bits of the island.

All in all a very nice break and we will definately return.

" We flew from Heathrow with BMI and... "

We flew from Heathrow with BMI and agent Exclusive Escapes, but booked directly with resort. Everything about Avithos has been written before and I agree with it all.

Having been to Kefallonia on numerous occasions but staying in Svoronata once before, I can strongly recommend it for a really chilled out holiday.

It rained - oh boy, did it rain - but that didn't spoil it - the lounge area has wonderfully comfortable leather armchairs and we just read and drank and relaxed.

We will definitely be going back, sooner rather than later!

" Stayed for one week at the Avithos... "

Stayed for one week at the Avithos Resort on a self catering basis at the end of August. The complex itself was superb, clean, tidy, modern, and well run. The pool area was the best we have experienced in ten trips to the Greek islands.

Our apartment was on two levels with a very spacious and modern feel and there was plenty of room for everyone (two adults and two young children). Very close to the airport but had no intrusive aircraft noise, only consideration is that it is a very small quiet village with one supermarket and a handful of tavernas which were very reasonable.

If you are looking for a relaxing break in a quiet location then this is ideal. Car hire is available locally if you want to explore and there is a bus service to the larger towns but not sure how regular this is.

" Fantastic resort. This was our first... "

Fantastic resort. This was our first time in Greece - but most definitely not our last. Kefalonia is a MUST as is a return visit to Avithos Studios and Apartments.

The apartments are conveniently situated close to the airport with the village of Svoronata a maximum of 10 mins walk away. Local supermarkets are small but stock everything you could possibly need. Locals are very friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was basic but very clean and comfortable. The room was cleaned daily with towels replaced alternate days. Kitchen facilities include microwave with grill, 2 ring cooker and Fridge with freezer section which adequately froze the icepack ready for our next days' adventure. All staff were very friendly with nothing too much trouble for them. They all worked very hard to ensure our holiday was perfect.

The whole resort was very quiet with only a few families with incredibly well behaved children using the pool area.

During the evenings it was great to sit on out patio outside our room sipping G&T before going out for the evening meal. The lounge bar was open serving a large selection of drinks way into the night.

There are a few excellent Tavernas within easy walking distance. A relatively new addition is a Taverna we nicknamed the "Orange Grove". This was a first class Taverna which served excellent food which was always followed by a huge plate of freshly peeled and sliced orange segments fresh from their own trees. We would recommend a visit or two here during your stay.

The whole island is a must to see but public transport into Avithos is not very good so we hired a car (with AC). We hired the car through Avithos Resorts which proved to be significantly cheaper than other sources.

" We have just had a week of sunshine... "

We have just had a week of sunshine at this wonderful resort.

The apartments are lovely very clean. The rooms came with air con and a safe which was in with the price. If you want a peaceful holiday which we did, then this is the place for you.

The restaurants which are in walking distance are lovely. We hired a car for the week which just allows you to try the different beaches out, the beach near the resort used to be a lovely large beach, but it seems to have shrunk, and has developed alot of pebbles, but you must try the Preview restaurant there the food is lovely and I loved the Greek yogurt with honey.

Most of the week my husband was toasting my bread by holding over one of the rings, but then we were told the grill is in the microwave. Will definitely be going back again.

" Very nice resort and excellent... "

Very nice resort and excellent accommodation and service from all. Only downside was that no entertainment was put on within the resort and as the resort was so far from any entertainment we felt a little isolated.

This however, would not put us off coming back but would hire a car for full holiday term.

On a whole the holiday was excellent value and feel the rating of the accommodation and resort should actually be higher than indicated in the brochure and website.

" Brand new hotel set in very quiet... "

Brand new hotel set in very quiet idyllic location. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. As previous review states only 10 mins drive from airport. Set in very nice well maintained gardens, studio room very nice, well decorated and clean with air con available.

Pool was lovely with beautiful views of the hills. Within walking distance of gorgeous beaches and a few tavernas, and a short taxi ride to Lassi with lots of restaurants and bars. Also very close to capital of Argostoli for shopping and nice restaurants. Food in form of delicious snacks from pool bar, service sometimes slow but left plenty of time for a few drinks!

Staff all very friendly, the barman gave us drinks free of charge on many occasions. All in all a wonderful relaxing holiday, Kephalonia is very beautiful and hiring a car is essential to see the place properly, windy roads but very easy to get around. We were very pleased with this hotel and would definitely go back.

" Location peaceful, in the midst of... "

Location peaceful, in the midst of orange and lemon groves, yet only 10 mins from airport. Aircraft take off and land over the sea and are few and far between but can be seen in the far distance. No problem being so close to the airport.

Our accommodation was an upper floor maisonette, with great views, similar to the top part of a villa with the bed on a mezzanine floor at high level. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were all that is required and very good. The whole place including the lovely gardens, pool area, accommodation were really clean and well maintained under the supervision of 'The Boss/owner, Mr *****' The pool side bar did simple food during the day with Vasasslis and Natasha providing great service. The pool was large and very quiet. All the staff were friendly and very good at their jobs with Athina and Christina especially good to deal with. If you are looking for a chilled out holiday to recharge the batteries this is the place.

I would advise having a car as it is a 10 min walk through the orange groves to the village tavernas and it gives you the freedom to explore the island. We loved it. We booked flights, car and accommodation direct. The one downside was there are no direct flights to Kefalonia from Scotland, but that would not stop us going back. <br>
