This is a 5 start hotel spread over 2 sides of the main road. There is a bar that is on the ground floor of one side of the hotel and doesn't shut when advertised, stays open much later (3am one morning) playing music so loud it could be heard a number of floors up, very little sleep.
Air con - This hotel cheat its customers by allowing you to think that you are in control of the air-con, well you're not. Although there are controls in your room, the hotel decide when it comes on and goes off. It was 30+ whilst we were there and the air-con was turned off at midnight, making sleep very difficult as room got too hot. We tried to complain about this and it was handled very badly, no one, even the rep taking responsibility for it.
Food - Good selection every night although everything had sauce, therefore no food was plain, if you weren't feeling that great and wanted something normal. If you go half-borad drinks are not included with the evening meal. I would say though that the pizzaria attached to the hotel is amazing and the food very good indeed. If HB you can eat here instead with £10 each towards your meal, which easily gets you a meal and drink each.
Pools - Although there are 3 pools (2 outdoor + 1 indoor) they are far too small in relation to how many guests there are staying at the hotel. This means that frequently you are unable to sit around any of the pools due to there being no spare loungers.
Weddings - If a wedding is being hosted by the hotel, they shut off the ground floor pool area from mid afternoon, which again is not on as you have paid good money for this pool.

Really good hotel, staff helpful and quietly efficient. Loved the view over the church and the bus terminal , a great position to watch the world from. A glorious sea view too. Ask for a high room, with a sea view, it may cost a little more but is well worth it.

- Advice: Experience the buses!!
- Activities: Mdina, great day and evening, lovely restaurants within the walls.

Stayed for tenm days at the Maritim and have nothing but praise for the staff and the service that I received. The hotel is generally very clean and well presented. I have had previous horrors with noise at hotels and was pleased that this was not the case here. Slept well without disturbance either from rowdy guests or from other noise. therefore somewhat puzzled by another reviewer's comments about the bells fromm the church.
Eating at the restaurants within the hotel is enjoyable and the cocktail bar is pleasant if unspectacular. Rooms are clean and well maintained and the maids keep everything up together on a daily basis.
Can't really find any faults with this hotel and would happily come here again.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Maritim Antonine. The hotel and its facilities were great. Very effective air conditioning that we needed in 30c.We found the balcony view over the main street fascinating, watching the world come and go. Driving standards very different from the UK! Lovely pools and gym/spa too. The food was plentiful and of a very high standard. Local beer Cisk was good. There are plenty of good places to eat in the village and the rest of the island is easily accessible on the unique and inexpensive local buses. Mellieha is not too touristy. I'd recommend this area if you are looking for a relaxing time.

This hotel is not a 4 star, It just about makes it to a 3 star level.
But the worse thing about staying here is the church across the road, The bells blast out every morning at 6 am. And about 6 other times during the day.
I was wakened up at 6am every morning,

We have just returned from a very pleasant break at the Maritim, and have nothing but praise for the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. This is a genuine 4 star hotel with very few exceptions; the food was good and plentiful and the room we had was very good. The spa and gym facilities were good and all in all this was a very pleasant place for a winter break. There is evening entertainment in the bar, but it is relaxed and tasteful in "piano bar" style. Also there is a sports bar showing English football and rugby across the way. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel and buses are frequent and inexpensive.
Do beware of timeshare touts in the streets near the hotel. They promise vouchers for free holidays etc, but don't actually give you the vouchers if you go to the presentation. Also they keep you there for hours and can be aggresive if you are not interested in buying.

- Advice: Very quiet in Winter, not much going on at night

Rated a 4 star hotel by the tourist board, with a few exceptions it lived up to its rating.
The hotel is situated at the northern end of the main street through Mellieha but, having a room at the back, overlooking the garden and bay, we never heard traffic noise. There are, however, rooms with balconies overlooking the street so these might be noisy.
There is also an annex building across the street to which the access is through a tunnel from the main hotel. We had one of these rooms for the last day on late checkout (an extra £20) and the room was smart and appeared newly revamped, though a little small.
However we had luckily been given a suite with two full bathrooms and two balconies for the length of our pre-booked stay, which we really had not expected. These were spacious and luxurious, but two suites on the seventh floor even had their own hot tubs on their terrace.
We never tried the main restaurant but the hotel boasts its own public restaurant/pizzeria, Al Ponte, at which everyone agreed that the food was fresh, hot and fantastic. Prices were at the same level as other restaurants in the resort, and, if you ordered fillet steak at about £12, you got two large fillet steaks with sauce of your choice and all the extras.
The only failings we could find were;
1. The hotel car park. It is a steep, narrow spiral going down several floors to the tiny car park. Everyone's recommendation was NOT to use it and we wished we had not as it was a trauma getting in and out. We only went in and out once but still managed to scrape our car. Big cars just would not get down.
2. Tiles were coming off the children’s rooftop pool (there are three pools at this establishment). Previous clients said this pool was in the same state last year. Doesn't look good in this class of hotel.
3. Ants in the bedroom were a problem and not dealt with when reported. I had to revert to spraying deodorant down the entrance holes and then filling them with shaving foam. Surprisingly this worked !!
4. The roof top floor tiles are VERY slippery when your feet are wet from the pool. Take extreme caution.
Otherwise this was the best hotel we have stayed in on our five visits to Malta and we would happily return to this hotel, which has every facility on its doorstep - even a cobbler a bit further up the street who soled my shoes for a mere fraction of the cost here in the UK.
You would be hard pressed to find a more comfortable abode in Malta !!

This hotel is very good. This was my 6th visit to Malta and out of the 5 hotels I have stayed in I thought this was the best and if I should return to Malta, which is very likely, this hotel would be the first on my list.
Our room, which was only a standard one, was very good and unlike most hotels we have stayed in in Malta tea and coffee facilities were provided and supplies of tea, coffee etc. were topped up every day. Also the room safe was available for use at no additional cost. Bathroom was very good. However, on the down side, if you have a room overlooking the main street through Mellieha the room/balcony can be noisy and occasionally traffic fumes may be experienced, but, although we overlooked the main street, as we were not too low down I did not find this a particular problem.
Although I never used them, there are 3 swimming pools which looked ok, and towels, at no charge, were provided for guests who took advantage of these facilities.
The dining area was good, the quantity of food available was excellent and the quality was very good. Oh yes the sweets are excellent. I put about 4lbs on during our stay although I was walking 6 to 8 miles most days.
The entertainment in the hotel during our stay was a pianist (about 4 nights a week) and a singer/guitarist (1 night a week). However, there are many bars in the locality and I imagine that during the busy season more entertainment would be available in these establishments. Cost of drinks in the hotel is a little bit more expensive than the local bars but not excessively so.
Although there is a small Internet Café in the hotel the broadband connections are the slowest I have ever experienced.
As a centre, Mellieha is not the best location to explore the island but if you like walking or want to get away from the bustle of the main resorts this hotel is excellent. However, please note that as Mellieha is on a hill it is not a suitable holiday location for anyone with mobility difficulty although the hotel itself is very user friendly for disabled guests.

I would definitely agree that the hotel deserves 4*. The location is excellent if you like to eat out and only about a mile from the beach, which was fairly crowded in late September, although I would still recommend it as the sea was very calm for swimming.
We stayed for one week with Thomson Pricebreakers and got a very reasonable deal for half board. Our room had a king size bed (seriously comfy!) and a walk in shower, table and chair, wardrobe, desk and the cheapest minibar I yet to come across. As a standard room it was excellent, the downsides were that the balcony looked over the main street in Mellieha and was too noisy for us to want to sit at it.
The spa and indoor pool are lovely and massages are reasonably priced. We received money off offers on treatments but when I investigated they could only be used on the first and last day of your stay which seemed a little bizarre. The outdoor pools were a little cold to want to spend time in but there was plenty of free loungers and bar service around the pool.
We found breakfasts quite basic by other 4* standards as my partners was quite disappointed by the cooked breakfast on offer. However the evening meals were lovely, we sat outside when possible and enjoyed some lovely soups, salads and barbeque. Wine was very well priced and it is worth trying Maltese wine. For the price we paid the food was really very good. We did eat out a couple of times and The Arches Restaurant opposite the main entrance was fantastic. As a vegetarian I didn’t struggle to find good food.
The hotel also has two bars, a piano bar and a pub style bar. Both were pleasant but we preferred the pub which had some good life music some nights. The pizzeria is also worth a visit, we had lunch there some days in exchange for our evening meal.
Overall, one of the best value hotels I've stayed at in Europe.

The hotel is located in the town of Mellieha in the north of Malta approx 1 hour from the airport. The hotel is 4* and deserves everyone of them. There are three pools (one in the gardens, one on the roof and a salt water heated pool indoors). The hotel has it's own spa centre with treatments at an extra cost but discounted if staying in the hotel. The staff are very very friendly and the rooms very clean and well equipped.
Our room had twin beds, a fold away bed and a cot and still had room for two tables, two chairs, a dressing area and TV cabinet and this is the comfort room (lowest grade). The TV cabinet had a fridge in it stocked with drinks but actually at the hotel bar prices not the usual minibar fortune.
The hotel has a restaurant (breakfast and Dinner) and a pizzeria for lunch and dinner and those on HB can use either for the dinner meal. The restaurant food is out of this world with at least 4 main courses (you can try all if you can manage) and 6 desserts.
Prices in the hotel are slightly higher than those outside but not too much that it stops you enjoying their facilities. There are two bars one by the pool during the day and one at the front of the hotel for the evenings.
We will certainly be going back next year and are only struggling to work out if we can afford two weeks next time instead of just one.

We were arrived at the hotel at about 2pm, we had to wait for about 45 minutes for our room to be ready....the check-in is supposed to be at 2pm not at 2.45pm!! Our room was very nice but not very clean and there was a lot of dust on the floor!!
The food was poor and obviously could have been much much better for the price we paid for it!
Breakfast: The hot food used to be cold food.
Dinner: The main course was very poor & there were no good choice from where to choose.
