It was a best holiday I have ever had in my life. The hotel was so simple & small as I expected. The pool was really small but you only needed to get cool down because of that burning sun. The staff were so lovely & make your holiday perfect. They are always helpful & friendly to any customers.
The manager (Arran) was really nice person & he is so helpful. He has always time to listen your problems. And he solved any problems of any customers. Yes, you can not bring any food and drinks from outside which is fair enough. The prices actually were not really expensive in this hotel. Everyone can afford to buy food and drinks if you go on holiday.
Thanks to Arran (Manager), Marco, Mehmet and Ceren (Receptionist, lovely girl) for making my holiday perfect in this hotel. I'd like to say anyone who wants a lovely holiday in Kusadasi. Just go hotel Istankoy. You will see everything by your eyes.

I must strongly disagree with the last review although I do understand that this is the persons own opinion. We have stayed at the Istankoy 4x and have booked again for next year. Whilst there, we found the staff, including Arran the manager extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always polite and courteous. Arran even went up onto the roof one night after a power cut to fix the satellite because our TV wasn't working.
I also went on the internet in the hotel. I left my payment for 1 hr with the girl at reception and after the manager helped me log on because I was having problems, I stayed on about 1/2 hr. I didn't expect a refund, because if you get off the bus before your stop you don't get your fare refunded! Later that night the manager approached me and gave me my money back ,because I had been the 1st internet customer(nice gesture).
As for the mini bar prices, these are clearly displayed on the fridge and are the same prices charged downstairs. If you think these are expensive, you haven't bought a bottle on bar street! I do not know why the manager should be rude to you and your partner regarding the bottle of water, all I can say is ourselves and many others return to the Istankoy year after year, this wouldn't be so if we weren’t happy with the place. If the staff are approached in a correct manner they will bend over backwards to help.
I find it strange that out of many reviews about this hotel yours is the only negative one. If you wanted silver service perhaps you shouldn't have chosen a 2*hotel. Our only negative was the noise from the bar at night, but we didn't ask to be moved so that was our own fault, also people are on holiday and we don't know if we are disturbing people when we are down there. ISTANKOY 2* hotel with 5* service.

I was pleased to see that another person was as disappointed with this awful hotel as I was.
The bedrooms are very basic and you're kept awake by the noisy bar. As the doors are so cheap and nasty none of the sounds from the bar and other patrons is blocked.
The bed we had in our first room creaked really loudly and prevented any sleep. The response to my complaint to a member of staff at reception was a simple, and annoying, shrug of the shoulders.
We were eventually moved to another room which had a bird's nest in the roof and a noisy generator outside the window. The roof was so flimsy one of the chicks actually fell through it and onto my bedroom floor.
This plus a whole host of other aspects, rude staff and overpriced bar, forced us to move hotel. When I asked for my money back for the air conditioning I'd forked out for (and only used 3 days of and on one of these days the hotel had a total power cut). I was told by reception staff that this was 'impossible'. If not for the intervention of my rep I would have had the money extorted off me by this place.
My advice, stay somewhere else, this place is the worst hotel I have EVER stayed in and should only be rated as a 1 star it's that bad.

I am really surprised to see so many positive comments about this hotel as it is by far one of the worst I have ever stayed in. I can't argue with the fact that some of the staff are very friendly however the manager is not.
The rooms in this hotel are basic and just about cover what you would need to survive in the heat. When I arrived the air conditioning was not working (bearing in mind I had paid £20 for the privilege of having it), it blew out scorching air and then would not turn back on. Also the toilet seat was not attached to the toilet itself which I found surprising as the maids clean the rooms every day but to what extent if they cannot notice that?
The "balconies" in this hotel are more boxes than anything else really with two stools to sit on which if you are under the age of 4 I’m sure are very comfortable. The television did not work when we arrived also and after much deliberation with my boyfriend who I was sharing the room with, complained to the staff and asked to change rooms.
We were told that all of the faults in our room would be fixed and there was no need to change so we just left it and allowed the maintenance man to sort the problems out. We were given a new toilet seat and the air con. and television fixed which was fast and relatively hassle free. Also be careful of the mini bar - anything you eat or drink from that will cost you double what it will anywhere else - we made that mistake.
The hotel offers an Internet service downstairs which I thought would be very handy as I wanted to keep in touch with my family during my stay and over the first 4 nights I used the internet for about 10 minutes each time to send one e-mail a time. There is a large sign above the computer saying that it is £1 per hour to use this but as I was using only 10 minutes I did not think that I would be charged for the use of it.
Not only was I charged for it but I was rudely informed on my way out one evening that I had a bill waiting for me for the internet. A bill of 50 Turkish liras to be exact. That’s about £20-25. The manager seemed to be suggesting that I had spent 20 hours on the internet during my first few days. Con artist? I think so. I refused to pay this bill and in the end paid £4 and did not use the Internet again - needless to say I was furious!
My final point is to do with the mini bar. There is a sign on the wall saying "no food or drink from outside the hotel please." yes fair enough. I was appalled when my boyfriend came back to room and told me that the manager’s words upon seeing him carrying A BOTTLE OF WATER were "if you take that up and put that in MY fridge I will personally remove it and keep it. It is MY fridge."
Considering the fact that I had had a sickness bug during that week as had my boyfriend the fact I was not allowed water in the room was just about the last straw for me. The sole purpose of the mini bar I now assume is to make money from the things the manager puts in and is not actually allowed to be used as it in intended.
Overall this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and the "24 hour bar" that is boasted about in another review is absolute hell on earth if you are ill and all you can hear is "waaaaaaaaaaahh! Wooooooooo!" from just outside your window. I would never stay here again and I suggest that if you want a hotel full of noise and rude staff - stay at hotel Istankoy - Kusadasi.

This is an excellent hotel, very clean and in a great position close to town centre and beach. The staff are first class always willing to help, they also have a laundry service which is very reasonable.
This was my first holiday abroad with my kids and the staff were great with them. Would recommend this hotel to everyone. My family and I enjoyed it so much we came home and booked it again for next year.

Absolutely brilliant hotel, situated close to the front.
Rooms are basic but very clean.
The staff are what make this hotel, really friendly
and welcoming. Marc, Elvis, Reece, and Geeha (not sure about spelling) can give them nothing but praise for the long hours they work and the service they provide.
It was my parents first time in Turkey and they loved this hotel and Kusadasi.
We are talking about booking again for 2005.

The best holiday I have ever had. I was on my own with 2 children aged 7 and 12 and the staff there were so helpful and kind laughing and joking and given there spare time to play. the hotel is nipping clean and the food is beautiful.
The staff are second to none Ozzy, Elvis, Reece and all of them really did as much as they could for us. I am going back this next year meeting all the people we meet on our visit this year.

Staff were all great. However down side was no room to store luggage before flight so had to store in the lobby, not safe. Also noise from cleaners in the morning. Everytime another guest closed there door on your floor it causes a draft, which moves your door, and it makes an awful noise. Need fixing. Again mention to staff made us feel welcome and will keep in touch with Elvis ‘Cardrei’ forgive the spelling.

Great holiday, hotel kept nice & clean, staff the best ever and would do anything for you. They all loved a joke with you and to mix with you to make your holiday special.
We will be going back. It has a good atmosphere and is near to beach & night life. Meals at the hotel are good & if you want to stay by the pool, snacks will be brought to you. The pool is not too big but enough to cool down in. The roof top is just a big sun trap. Linda & Alan Taylor.
