October 2011 went by coach. Meet and greet and guidance good. Chalet clean. New carpet wouldn't go amiss. Shower excellent, large bathroom. Bed comfortable. Grounds lovely with a dovecote full of doves and a pretty fish pond. There were ducks walking around and rabbits at dusk. The drinks were reasonably priced. The entertainment was good in the evenings. The bluecoats were all good at their jobs and two had excellent singing voices. There was plenty of food. A vegetarian choice available daily as well as salads and hot meals. An additional main meal choice would be good though but would find something for everyone's taste. Breakfast had good choice of food too. Would have liked a fried/poached egg choice as well as the daily scrambled egg. Overall a very good 3 night stay holiday that was excellent value for money.
- Advice: Take fresh milk to your room as packet whitener provided for hot drinks.

We have just returned from a weekend break at Pakefield,I know it was cheap and we were prepared for basic accomodation, but the room was dirty. The carpet was threadbare and so dirty I couldn't bear to put my feet on it! The bathroom was filthy, hairs in the bath, mouldy taps, stained floor and bugs(silverfish)coming out of the skirting,it also smelt of drains, yuk!
The only saving grace was that the bedding looked clean and the towels, otherwise I wouldn't have stayed there. We will never go there again.
- Advice: knock it down and start again!

Well as soon as we got to Pakefield we went to reception as we have done last 3 times we have been, after queing for 30 mins was told we have to check in at the ballroom, so went there and got key for 1 bed chalet, we boooked a 2 bed with interconecting doors, so was told we had toto reception to sort it out,so had to q at reception yet again , then to be told we have to have that chalet as no more was avaliable. So asked to speak to a manager and had to wait for an hour then was told the park had been overbooked by 300 people, yes 300 what a joke. So after a 4 hour coach journey we had to have the 1 bedroom, and go see them again i the morning.
So next day spoke to reception and had to go back at lunch time and was moved to a normal 2 bed chalet that had bunk beds in 2nd bedroom, and my daughter that is 5ft 10 had to sleep in and kept hitting her head, aand the bunk bed was too small. We was told we couldnt be moved and bed couldnt be changed, after asking for some money back as we had paid for different accomadation we got given £25 pontin pounds what an insultt
Then off a night there was a late bar in the queen victioria pub that some nights went on til 3 in the morning wwith kareoke ad loud music, and our chalet was right near it, needless to say hardly had any sleep.
Dinning room was packed and tables dirty waited ages to get some 1 to clean 1, then the food wasn`t very nice realy gone down hill from last visits.
So after 4 holidays at Pakefield was also our last never again
All i can say the bluecoats don`t get enough praise and work so hard and do a fantastic job 10 out of 10 for them shame the rest of the staff wasnt like that.
I have put a letter of complaint in, see if they can even bother to reply.

Reading the reviews I had mixed feelings about having a long weekend at this Pontins site. After the weekend I had to write to say how much my family enjoyed our time at in Pakefield. As a summary, location 5 stars, staff 5 stars, children enteriment 5+ stars (big thanks to all the blue coats), bars 4 stars, appartment 3 stars (ash tray sit next to the toliet holder!!!) and food 2 stars (only ate once and that was too much).
For a cheap break in a great location to exsplore Norfolk you cannot beat Pakefield. The rooms and food need massive improvement, but the staff are out of this world.

I booked a 3 bed classic for specific family reasons.
booked on line and followed up with a phone call to get conformation
arrived to be offered a room with 3 single beds and a bathroom
on refusing offerd me a refund and i could take my children home
eventually they gave us a 2 bedroom , which was not what i had booked for myslef and 2 teenage foster children not caused issues during the holiday
a note at reception said that "due to it being a busy week the camp was full and Pontins could not give guests the accomodation they had booked".
PONTINS POLICY OF IGNORING WHAT I BOOKED MEANS I CANNOT TRUST TO BOOK PONTINS AGAIN. shame as the site and amenities were good. had i got the accom i booked i would have had a great holiday

Stayed August 2011 with my family & kids... Food was disgusting,Swimming pool filthy which shouldn't be left to lifeguards to clean the facilities around the swimming area. ( should employ proper cleaners instead of making cutbacks )was shut for 2hrs for cleaning and still dirty once opened again.
Have no idea how to entertain children apart from letting them run wild and SCREAMING!!!!! should also cater for teenagers, as they have nothing to do.
- Advice: Needs a makeover for entertaining children & proper cleaning staff

The hole camp needs a good lot of money spending on it really run down, all toilets need a re- vamp! we stayed 20-27 August, entertanment was rubbish the only good thig was Carl the blue coat who was fantastic, we have been going to Pakefield Pontins for the last 3 years and have always re-booked for the following year as we have always had a fantastic time and the kids loved it, captain croc and the gang were hardly seen, the food was poor and not much choice. Will not be going again going to try Haven next year!!
- Advice: Go if you can get it cheap, always go Club appartments

We had a good time at Pakefield, the accommodation we booked was Classic 2 bedroom, we had two chalets with the connecting door between for five of us, two adults and three offspring aged 15, 12 and 8. That meant 4 bedrooms (2 double beds, 2 sets of bunks), two bathrooms and two televisions so not so many arguments and no toilet queues! Chalets were well used but clean, all linen was spotless, beds o.k. for comfort but not luxury, but we didn't pay a luxury price anyway. The food was good, something for everyone even the picky ones, slightly chaotic in the dining hall until we got the hang of it- small people careering around with trays, cups of milk and plates at precarious angles! We don't do bars and cabaret, we played pool, snooker, darts, went on the slotties, swam and messed about and went out. All round good value, friendly and safe.

Hardly any if any of the free activities advertised were available, when in September 2011 my family took a three night weekend break. The swimming pool had nothing to offer apart from water . The food on one night was unfit for human consumption, the other meals barely okay. We had upgraded to the club chalets which we were told included bed making and fresh towels daily, this only happened in one of the three chalets. In one of the chalets a wet towel was actually left in the bed. Entertainment staff in the evening are very good but during the day where are they hiding?. We had arranged with the catering manager [who was very helpful] to have a birthday cake [which we had supplied] brought to the table at the end of our evening meal, but when we took it into the restaurant the first member of staff refused to accept it, then when we found someone who would it was DUMPED on the table during the meal with HERE YOU ARE THEN. In fairness to the place it was clean and at least two or three of the staff appeared to be on the ball and helpful. BUT, if you have any problems do not expect PONTINS to help or even reply to your letters.
