" This was our 4th time at Pontins... "

This was our 4th time at Pontins Blackpool, it was a short 4 night break, we go abroad every year to 4/5 star hotels and have a short break in the school holidays to Pontins or haven.

Pontins Blackpool is great, we checked in at 4pm and were in our chalet by 4.20, it was basic but very clean, the food and entertainment is great, fab kids dances and shows and great all round entertainment, Ben Mills from X factor was brill, The Mad Hatters and the Harper Brothers wonderful and Blus Coat show really good and very professional. The venue for night entertainment does fill up fast and you have to get in early 6.30/7pm for a chance of a decent seat. Price at bar is no higher than any other holiday resort.

The camp is old and in need of some inprovements, gardens need attention some planting and bit of weed and feed on the lawns wouldnt go amiss but its clean and friendly, staff extremely helpful at all times.

" the reason i am giving it a 3 rating... "

the reason i am giving it a 3 rating is only because of the food. i stayed at the pontins holiday camp in blackpool. let me say it was a disgrace. where do i begin we payed £700 for two adults a 16 year old and a 5 year old. during the day there was nothing to do. the activities were pathetic and you never were comfertable leaving your child with the bluecoats who were not that professional. so after breakfast you were wondering what you would do til dinner. the evening entertainment was not that good. the bluecoats were crap to say the least. accomadation was poor. when you went for the evening entertainment you had to get in there early to get a table or you had no hope. pontins policy is you are not allowed to reserve tables perhaps they should police this policy. all in all the worst holiday of my life. we did win a free holiday back to a pontins holiday camp. i will not be going as i refuse to step foot back in pontins ever again

" My daughter and I usually go on the... "

My daughter and I usually go on the cheap sun holidays but as there is only two of us this still works out quite expensive especially when you have to add on food, entertainment passes etc,so I thought I would have a look on the internet to see what Pontins had to offer,I couldn't believe the price when I saw it so it took me a while to decide wether to book or not, needless to say I booked{£132 for 4 nights half board for two people}.I had a look at some reviews which were not a good rating and started wandering if I had done the right think or not.My fears were soon discarded when we turned up to the gates and two smiley bluecoats came straight over asking if we had been before then told us what to do and where to go,they had already had my 8 year old daughter in fits of laughter.
when it was time to check in we had a little queue to wait in but there was entertainment going on all the time, after being given our keys and shown where to go we set of to see our room,I was immediatley surprised the room was clean bigger than I expected, unfortunatley it did smell a bit smokey but we soon opened the windows and it didn't last long, the bathroom was also very clean.
one thing I would request is that they get some decent pillows they are a little flat.
food was fab loads of choice hot and fresh and you could go and get more if you wanted.
In some reviews people had said that the noise from the airport woke them at six in the morning the earliest we heard the airport and aircraft was eight in the morning which I think is quite acceptable and most of the time its small aircraft, only about 4-5 big planes a day that I noticed.
The overall decor does need a shake up but facilitys and entertainment were great,
I'm hoping to book for october half term,we had a great time.

" We went to Pontins Blackpool last... "

We went to Pontins Blackpool last year for a week, had two chalets interlocking and had a great time, The food was lovely and plenty of it, the staff were very polite and welcoming.

Lots to do for all ages young and old, day and night of good entertainment, in fact we decided before we went to go to Blackpool for the day but never got there the kids couldnt find a day that they had nothing to do so we didn't bother.

Any way it was so good that we are back again in august 2008 and cant wait, but this time my dad and daughter's friend is coming so the more the merrier.

" I was really worried about going to... "

I was really worried about going to pontins blackpool after some of the reviews that i had seen... i loved it there it was great, we have booked to go back in 7 weeks time in September...and over the new year... we got there to early but we used the facilities and the staff was absolutely lovely and friendly... i went to get my room at 3.30 and even though there was a massive que they opened it early and got through it surprisingly fast.. I was only waiting 5 to 10 mins max and i had my key to my room... my room was basic but was a lot better than i imagined... it did have a moist smell but it was not too bad... the rooms were very warm and very comfortable... even though there was 3 adults and a baby the room was bigger enough for us all.... the entertainment was excellent... not outstanding but it kept us entertained and it was fun, my little one had a bawl.... my oldest said he really enjoyed it to especially the arcade... and cannot wait to go back....the food is outstanding and u get a great choice and its very enjoyable.... we did have a problem in our room and the staff was lovely about it and it was sorted within 30 mins... the bathroom door had a lock on it but it did not lock, but it DID shut and it really did not bother us at all... we did hear aeroplanes during the day not as many as I thought i would hear, it was not annoying.. And I DID NOT hear them on an evening... for the price that it is its a great place to go.. its not far from all the sites and there is a bus that u can get to take u there...i believe you can buy day ticket...we drove every day so did not use the buses... parking was £7.00 for 24 hours and that was in the water park car park...around £3.50 for 4 hours... we did walk on the first day and its a 25 min walk to the pleasure beach... if u expect 5 star accommodation for pontins prices then your not going to get it there... YOU DO GET great friendly staff, a comfortable and very warm room and outstanding choice of food, with entertainment that is entertaining and fun... every year we have gone to Disney resort Paris and we enjoyed PONTINS BLACKPOOL better.... when u first turn up its not exactly breath taking but u should give it a chance, it is a great place and we had lots of fun..

" Right I have heard some downright... "

Right I have heard some downright disgusting reports about Blackpool Pontins (Probably instigated by Butlins or some such inferior group) I am Blind and have visited Pontins Blackpool a minimum of twice a year.

I am Blind and always take my guide dog with me so therefore my dog is familiar with routes from different venues, my Wife and children who are also my carers feel confident about letting me and the dog just wander around KNOWING that if I get into any kind of difficulty I will be helped by the friendly Blue Coats. It seems to me that reading the reviews on this site people just love to winge, why doesn't anyone say something complimentry about things? I suppose it is the British way to want something to moan about but having said that I have noticed that over the last 20 years folk have returned year in year out like ourselves so if it is as bad as folk make out then why do people return so often?

If anyone would like any more info. about Pontins Blackpool from a customers point of view please email me at BobStoker@aol.com I will be happy to advise you on all different aspects of Pontins in particular the many disability adaptions it has made.
Please take a look at my Guide Dog on

" When we arrived at pontins in... "

When we arrived at pontins in blackpool i was quite surprised, i had read other reviews and had mixed feelings about going.
When checking in to get our room keys we was greeted with a smile and got our keys within minutes (as ther was 18 of us traveling we thought it would take a while) we sorted our keys out and went to find our rooms (we was given a map) and had no problems finding them, the rooms was lovely and clean smelt nice we had one problem with a room that was allocated wrong so we went back to reception and explained our problem and was upgraded to a better room and was apologised to straight away
At tea time we all went to the food hall and had a lovely meal their is lots to choose from such as a home cooked hot meals to omelets and a salad bar that is all fresh.
In the evening there is a childrens disco with the brilliant bluecoats ,a caberet act and dancing in one room and in the quen vic there is a large screen with sport,tv and then at 11 o clock i turns into over 18s only for karaoke till late.
We all loved pontins it was so much fun there is lots to do in camp and then you have all blackpool and the sand dunes which the kids loved exploring right outside your door we will be going back again soon it was brilliant value for money.

" me and my friend went in this holiday... "

me and my friend went in this holiday for a week in june 2006 when we were 17 it was our first holiday without parents so we were quite excited!! We arriived on the saturday and got my dad to drop us off , as we were easrly for checking in we were told that we could put are suitcases in this little room for 20p each so we didnt have to trail them around all the time, we went to the hire shop and got one of them chucklevision cars. There seemed to be alot of people already waiting to check in who were waiting in the main area of the park even though there were still over 2 hours to wait!

When it was finally time to check in we collected our suitcases and had a really long wait in our line wihch is alphabetical order from M - Z .

Our chalet was a st stanard room only as we were on half board it was clean and well presented and although from the outside you could tell that they were old but they were well maintained! We was right next to the resteraunt wihch was great becauae we didnt have very far to walk for our meals.

We found that there wasnt much at all to do on the site, there was a park outside the queen vic pub which was loitered with teenagers , the queen vic pub was more for adults which was great and i got served being only 17 !!!

the main bar looked old and shabby we sometimes went in there to play cash prize bingo altohugh didnt win!!

on arrival they give you some drinks and food vouchers which came in hand as they were buy one get one frees on bottles and 3 for 2s !

I entered one of the competitions where i wun a fridge magnet

Only downside of the holday was that we were told that it was the main sean for the irish to come over and that they come every year and all seem to know eachother and take over at least half of the site, some parts of the park where the chalets were were all Irish people occuiping them.

We also got robbed by the irish as one girl befriended me and her broher stole my phone, my friend also woke up the nightr to find the girl climbing through our chalet window, from then we discovered that my entire underwear had been stolen alwell as my friends i pod and purse!

We called the police and they assigned us an officer who was very rude!! and seemed to think it was are own fault and had a go at us whenever we said anything about the irish!

The pontins securuty staff on the other hand were very helpful!! we cannot thank them enough! they got us two private detctives and they sorted everything out and got me my phone back and my friends i pod . still no sign of my underwear but at least i got my phone back!

The food the resteraunt was ace!! you could go round as many times as you wanted and there was always alot to offer , roasties, burgers , sausage, salads , omlettes , sandwiches ...

and then the puddings , cake , fruit, jelly , icecream!

All in all it was ok for a cheap getaway £132 each for the week including food

After the break - in we got moved to the emergancy apartment which is located next to the security office at the front of the park which made is feel alot safer for the last couple of nights!

" It was a nice quiet holiday, it was... "

It was a nice quiet holiday, it was good fun in the bars at the night time, the bar staff were friendly epecially one called louise. the blue coats were nice and i would go back again. better staff than last year. the rooms were basic but clean and warm. the food was nice you could just keep going back and get as much as you wanted. i think that theres definatley a lot more for the adults to do rather than the kids. not so much for the children to do so they run wild. some entertainment was good and some was poor.

" pontins blackpool is disgusting i... "

pontins blackpool is disgusting i have been to many pontins sites before but this one is appauling. we first arrived and as soon as i got there i wanted to come home . we went to the cafe only to be told that they couldnt heat up my babys food . then they brought me a stale sandwich and the staff were awful. we were sitting down and all of a sudden 3 planes nearly crashed into us i didnt realise it was built in the middle of an airport. seriously it was really bad big easy jet flights coming right over your head to land on the runway next to the site . we got into the challet and the radiator could not be turned off and there was piles of rubbish under the bed . we walked back out to reception and got a full refund also other people had the same idea it was packed full of complaints. they gave us a full refund and we came straight home thank god never go there it is dreadfull.

" Went to pontins in blackpool last... "

Went to pontins in blackpool last year, just me and my wife. My initial reaction on seeing the camp was. ooh! its a bit prison campy! and in fairness the whole camp could do with a bit of a facelift, then it was the obligatory long queue for check in to be greeted by a woman so miserable it was as if she had sat on the wrong ond of a pineapple! but then my opinion started to change. After speaking to the impossibly friendly guy on the gate, I was allowed to drive my car into the camp and unload my luggage on the promise that I would drive back out, and park up in the spacious carpark at the front of the camp. The chalet was VERY basic but clean and warm with a retro shower (that you have to hold the button in )the next surprise was the proximity to blackpool airport, it seems the planes are going to land on your head! all the kids found this brilliant and I must admit I enjoyed it too. Onwards to the foodhall which is the size of two football pitches, I found the food on offer to be excellent varied, always hot and plenty of everything. theres even a guy who will make you an omelette of your choice whie you watch him cooking it.I reguarly stay in 5 star hotels and the food on offer is easily equable to them. At breakfast the wife asked the chef if they had kippers ( her fave) no problem he says, he cooked them from fresh and delivered them to our table. all in all we had a brilliant time and are going back next week 26/05/ 08 with my daughters, their partners and the grandkids. This camp is for the funloving NOT the snooty. Its a budget holiday and offers excellent value for money. cant wait to go back.

" BEFORE GOING ON AVISIT TO THE PONTINS... "

BEFORE GOING ON AVISIT TO THE PONTINS HOLIDAY CAMP AT BLACKPOOL I CHANCED TO LOOK AT HOLIDAY REVIEW NEEDLESS TO SAY HAVING READ THE COMMENTS MADE BY OTHER VISITORS TO THE CAMP I WAS VERY APPREHENSIVE HAVING PAID FOR THE HOLIDAY MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED TO GO AND SEE FOR OURSELVES WITH PROVISO THAT IF IT WAS A DISMAL AS IT SOUNDED WE WOULD GO INTO BLACKPOOL AND BOOK INTO A HOTEL. WHEN WE ARRIVED THE FRONT OF THE CAMP APPEARRED JUST AS DISCRIBED RUN DOWN AND IN NEED OF SOME T.L.C. WE WERE VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WHEN WE WENT INTO OUR CHALET YES IT WAS SPARCE IF YOU COMPARE IT TO A HOTEL BUT IT WAS VERY CLEAN THE BEDDING IS ALWAYS MY FIRST INSPECTION POINT THIS WAS SPOTLESS THE TOWELS AND THE BATHROOM WERE THE SAME NOTHING TO GRUMBLE ABOUT THERE. THE FOOD WAS OF A HIGH STANDARD VERY VARIED ALLWAYS FRESH AND SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS OF A HIGH STANDARD BETTER THAN IVE SEEN AT 4 STAR HOTELS. ALL IN ALL I WOULD SAY VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.MR M STOKE ON TRENT

" Lets start from the beginning

Lets start from the beginning
I had a good time but I went thee when I was 5 and it has changed a lot. First if you’re going on a family holiday and have teenagers don’t take then they wont like it except if they are going to pleasure beach (theme park) that is amazing. Anyway the night entertainment is crap. But the swimming pool and the arcades are great and you should go to blackpoool tower it is amazing.

oh the food is great. there is a salad bar and a ice cream bar (well there was when i was there)
