The saying you get what you pay for is true ive paid hundreds for holidays and had accomadation that you wouldnt kennel dogs in and i couldnt wait to get home there is something for all ages there and the area around is great , i will continue to go to pontins as long as i keep enjoying myself the grandkids love it they enjoy thereselves and grandad and myself also get a well erned rest .

how can u rate badly on a sun £9.50 holiday wen u really get what u pay 4 a budget basic room to sleep in??
iv been to several pontins prestatyn, wall park(devon) and brean, and loved all of them.
i have never been to tight to upgrade to a classic on a sun holiday and even club sometimes for the sky tv for the children, microwave and all the clean towels each day. i have even booked independantly and never had a grumble..
my advice if u want the weather go to devon pontins.. if u want fun packed action prestatyn its the biggest pontins centre they have..
10/10 to pontins

having just returned from four days at brean down pontins, happened across this site and thought i would add our comments.we were a party of thirteen with three chalets between us, yes the chalets are very basic and are in need of updating asap. the lack of useful equipment for cooking was ridiculous, e.g pots and pans were not large enough to cater for sizes of chalet occupants, 2 - 4 people at a push not 6 -8.
however on the plus side the bluecoats are outstanding they are helpful and accomadating from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave, always happy and energetic and encouraging participation in variety of events throughout day and night. Bill, Shane, Matt, Kaylee, Katie, Charlie, Leanne to name just a few made our holiday as nothing seemed to much trouble.when in the fun factory you just cant help but have a good night as the bluecoat shows are simply outstanding and as good as many theatre shows recently visited. All are willing to stop and chat making you feel like you are amongst friends.
We found that the reception staff and management are efficient and helpful no matter what the query or complaint all are willing to help to find good outcome to any problem you have.
no this is not a five star resort with all needs and wants catered for , but customer service is excellent and priceless, no one ever treated us with anything less then a smile, understanding and politness and good manners. we have been to other places and been faced with rude staff.
as a large family we would have no qualms about going back to pontins brean as for convienience and value it is at the top of the list for family enertainment , fun and laughs which is what the good old fashoined british holiday is all about. memories are made here.

the place is a digrace i grew up visiting brean an as much as i love brean itself pontins has not changed at all in about 15 years
The place looks like somethin from hi.di.hi after a bomb went off,
My partner was offered a job there an thats not all he was offered he arrived and left the same day after being shown to where he was staying to find no light bulbs an the next thing a very scruffy lookin man turns up saying he is his room mate an what drugs does he want an not to worry everyone does it to get them through the day well u can safely say he picked his back up got in the car an drove home,
we still travel to brean sometimes with our children an i would be disgusted to let them any where near there , we always stay with haven holidays an everyone has been briliant an clean beleive me ur better of sleeping in the car or on the beach

Just got back from Pontins Brean Sands and I was dreading it after reading some of the reviews here! We had already made our minds up to upgrade when we got there but I was really happy with our apartment. It was only basic but it was clean and tidy. I also hired bed linen and I am fussy I would'nt have let my children sleep in dirty beds but they were fine. The evening entertainment was also good, my kids really enjoyed it. The pool was clean, it was cleaned twice while we was there. Some of the apartments needed a touch of paint on the outside but everyone I spoke to was happy with their accomodation.
Just one moan the key collecting system is stupid it is done by queuing alphabetically by your surname in the main club.

After reading some of the comments on this site we were dreading our sun hol £9.50 break.
I was in a group of four adults and one child - The accomadation was dated but very clean, the ironing board was broken but the friendly staff replaced it straight away.
Yes the Blue coats aren't the best of singers but they tried!
Braen itself has a good fairground only a short walk away which we all enjoyed.
We came home after having a nice break, no spiders/ants or dirty mattresses! For £9.50 each really enjoyed!!

After reading the reviews was scared to see what was in store, we had upgraded to Classic and it was clean & tidy if just a bit dated - bed settee had seen better days.
Pool was fab for us - mom, dad & 16 month old loved the free to use pool balls etc
Indoor play area was good for little one but shame things aren't better advertised - it was hard to find
Onsite takeaway wasn't open which was not told to us but can recommend the Indian takeaway out the gates and to the left and across the road - lovely food and it kept hot on the walk back
Weather was good, the beach fab too
All in all ok for the money - would not dash back

We have just come back from a weekend at Brean and had a fantastic time. i was worried what to expect after reading the reviews on this site and yes the chalets could do with a bit of updating but for 9.50 with the Sun i think you get what you are paying for, my main concern was that they were clean and ours was. our age range was 36, 40 two 19 year olds and 15 yr old and we all enjoyed it. The blue coats were fantastic & how they remember all the routines to the shows they put on is unbelieveable we were really impressed, we met master Shane ritchie jnr who was lovely and more than happy to have his picture taken with us...a credit to his parents there. The caberet acts were really good too Stiletto, Amethyst and Bobby Balls two lads, would recommend seeing them all if you get chance.
We would all go back there for the entertainment alone. There is a leisure park 2 mins away to spend a few hours...and pounds and a beach nearby.
We ate in the Queen Vic which was ironic with old Alfie Moon havin ran that and were pleased with the food.
For a weekend away with fun and entertainmenet and a chance to spend time as a family this was ideal.

Whats all these bad reviews all about, i was so scared about going on our first sun holiday that we up graded to club, my only dislike was the stale smell of ciggys and cooking in the chalets. apart from that its great,no big queues at receptionand we were there dead on 4. No flies, ants or spiders. rooms clean and matresses had plastic coating so no staines. loveley clean towels and fresh bedding. My son loved it. All them children to play with and run around crazy with. The enternaiment was fantasic for them. Big thanks to the blue coat. Brean itself Was good too. Big amument park just along the road, lots of shops and of course the beach. all in all not bad for what we paid.

This place should be on holidays from hell, i really can't understand how health and safety hasn't shut it down. The appartments i wouldn't even keep an animal in. We had bird mess and stains on a mattress so bad my husband threw it straight out the door and we weren't the only ones, the door frames were rotten, we had no lock on the bathroom door, the whole of camp was without water for 6 hours and when the water did come back on it was only working now and then, for the rest of the time we were there. My son went to ask if the quad bikes and go carts would be open the next day (as they were not open on sat) to be told "we don't know depends if we got the staff or not" this is no way to run a holiday camp if you are advertising these things they should be open. Also what i noticed is that we only had the door to get out of if there was a fire as there were no big opening windows, and these things go up very quick as we see when some staff quarters caught fire and burnt nearly a whole block down when we were there, others complained of blood on the walls, blood on bedding, ants everywhere. If it hadn't of been my sons football tournament weekend we wouldn't of stayed longer than 5 mins. Entertainment started at 10.15 then 5 girls who thought they could be girls allowed tried to sing it was painful to watch, we didn't bother going back for more. I will be complaining but i don't think its going to make a difference judging by this website its been like this for a very long time.

Just got back from pontins Brean Sands and just wanted to say it was fantastic!
We had a great time!!
It was raining quite a bit of the day in the week but the blue coats were there to entertain the children in the fun factory and lunars club, the whole holiday was fantastic, loads to do, plenty of entertainment, great food in the restaraunt.
The chalet was very clean the staff were helpful and acommodating and when we had a problem with the chalet, after mentioning it to reception in the morning we had someone there before we even got back to the chalet at lunch time.
Although we have young children there was loads to do for older children on the sports side of it even learning to do archery, the kids loved seeing the charactors, captain crock, zina, postman pat, etc and i cant praise the blue coats enough they were fantastic and very entertaining with their shows and different things in the day, along with party dances!
We cant wait to book again to go to Brean Sands, looking to go again this year!!

NEVER CONSIDER PONTINS!
I recently went to Brean Sands with 3 of my mates in order to have a nice week away and chill out from all the exams we have been taking and have a relaxing week.
However once we got there we were at first not too bothered with the appartment, but over a few hours this changed.
we realised that all the dishes were dirty and the oven had not been cleaned , there were hairs in the fridge and we sat on the toliet seat and the lid broke in half and then the seat came off!!!!
as soon as we had a shower it flooded
and no cleaning equipment was provided apart from a small bin that could barely fit a bottle in it.
so for a week we couldnt hover the carpet and it was disgusting
we had to buy all our cleaning equipment and had bin bags all over the appartment cause there were no where for us to put our rubbish.
The sheets on the bed were disgusting and didnt even fit the bed!!
We found on the second day that we had ants in the appartment so we went to complain and had to wait an hour before someone came to give us a spray
which still didnt sort it out!!!
We were so disgusted with the attitude of the cleaners and the state of the appartment as we paid of a club which meant we thought we were getting the best appartment.
For the rest of the park there are far too many arcades and nothing else to do.
Most of the activities were for under 8's and even they must of got bored.
The pool was ok as it had a jaccuzi but the water and the bottom of the pool were distgusting , with the most pathetic slide i have ever seen!!
A plus side was the evening entertainment as it carried on till quite late at night so you had something to do and the disco was throughly enjoyed.
The prices on the park were rather exspensive since you had to pay for everything you wanted even basic essentials
I must say we will never be going there again and made this noticable with our questionaire we left with comments also on the table.
NEVER COME HERE!

Well I was really dreading going after reading the reviews and even tried to change the holiday. I think we may of been the luckier ones of the bunch yes the patio doors were disgusting I have never seen such dirty windows, but we did have a clean apartment we had a two bedroom budget, the bed were uncomfortable and there was not much space in the open wardrobes. We think we may of had some new stuff in our chalet as the fridge and oven looked pretty new and the crockery was clean although we still cleaned it for our own peace of mind. I think the place is a rip off as they charge for everything you want to use and half the stuff was out of use, partly due to the heavy rain. The Queen Vic was rubbish they had run out of alot of the menu including tomato sauce hence my daughter couldn't eat her meal as she likes ketchup with everything, then they only gave her half her pudding but still charged for all the missing bits she was meant to get, and the drinks were flat. My daughter was sick all night and the next day not sure if it was the food or the dirty swimming pool as there was sand on the bottom of this. The queueing system was a joke my husband started queueing 1 hour before 4pm and they didn't start giving out the keys until 4.20pm luckily my husband was near the front, but we heard some people were queueing for 2 hours. The security staff were friendly and the bluecoats were friendly.
I would not recommend anyone to this camp and definetly would not come back. Also we paid £20.00 service charge when quering we had only used £7.00 in electricity we were told that the cost is also towards cleaning the chalet before and after you leave what a joke considering most people did not have clean chalets and the receptionist response was you are only a 9.50 holiday maker so what is the problem, I will be writing to head office

I accidentally found this review page about three days before we were due to go to this hell hole. We were obviously concerned but still made the four hour journey as we were hopeful it couldn't be all that bad. How wrong!!
I joined the queue to check-in at 4pm (everyone is told to check in at this time) which was already coming out of the Reception area door. I figured that Reception must be just inside the door, however, the queue wrapped all the way round the arcade/amusement area. One very rude and bossy member of staff was having a go at us for obstructing Reception with the way the queue was wrapping round. There were no clear signs on where to queue. This awful system could have easily been solved if they had a staggered check-in system rather than having a whole camp of people checking in at the same time. One lady in the queue was telling me that she arrived early at 2pm and when she tried to check-in she was turned away and told to come back at 4pm. They also had a separate queue for the Club/Classic people who seemed to go in and straight back out with their keys. Just because we were Budget we were made to feel like the unimportant ones. By the time I got to the top of the queue - 1.5 hours later, I was stood at Reception with a disgusting, dirty, sticky mess on the floor. I had no choice but to stand in it and when I told the lady at Reception she said 'oh, right' and did nothing.
We finally got to our chalet - by now my heart was going because I had a feeling what we were in for. The rooms were run down, smelly and unfit to sleep in. You are obviously allowed to smoke in these rooms (we are all non-smokers) as there was an ashtray on the table and it stank of old smoke. The only area that looked clean was the bathroom. I was half tempted to sleep in the bath which would have been more comfortable than the sofa bed. There were plastic school type chairs to sit at round the tiny table. I know that we only paid Budget so some people may think why complain, however there are certain standards. Even though we paid cheaply through the Sun newspaper offer, some people pay over £100 for this which is totally unacceptable.
We decided to eat out accross the road and had to take a card from Security to leave the site and hand it back once back in the holiday park. The restaurant we went to is up a flight of stairs and looks out over the park and it just reminded me of Ford Open Prison which is near to where I live. After dinner we went into the Entertainment lounge which was packed out and so dark that you could hardly see where to walk. The site has obviously not been made to accommodate so many people. We promptly left and begrudgingly decided to return to our chalet.
I'd had enough by the next day and we all decided enough was enough. While packing our bags to leave my husband took my children to the swimming pool. He came back telling me how disgusting and dirty the changing areas were. This backed up our decision to leave and I couldn't wait to hand the keys back in to Reception. When we gave our reasons she said they could send a cleaner back into our room missing my point that the whole site was disgustingly dirty. When we handed our car pass back into the security guard he looked amazed that we were leaving. When I gave our reasons he looked shocked - he obviously had not moved beyond his little hut and ventured into the site or chalets.
I will be writing to Pontins head office to complain and the Sun newspaper advising them that they remove this park from their choice of holidays.
How other holiday makers can give this park anything more than 1 our of 10 is beyond me!!

we stayed in the budget chalets. 2 adults 3 children. £75 for four nights, sun holidays.
the chalet was ok, clean linen etc. liked the fact that cars were well away and it was safe to let the kids play outside. swimming pool was great,we went four times which at our local baths would have been £40. the indoor play area was great and we went there every day. we used the pub several times for food and while not brilliant value (tip--wetherspoons burnham) it is ok and better value than haven holiday sites. there was a big queue for keys on arrival. simple solution ? give the kids some money for the arcade and have a couple of drinks in the bar. sixty minutes later and instead of getting stressed out in a queue youve had a nice drink and hey presto no more queue. the on site shop, nisa, was not too expensive either. try the arcade, pub, cake shop opposite as well . overall a good holiday
