After reading the reviews on this site, after I had booked a bank holiday weekend break I was absolutely dreading it. But check in, smooth, efficient, took less than 2 minutes. Accomodation was the CLUB self catering, and although bringing my own bleach etc I found it spotless. It's not modern, but there was everything you could need (we were a party of 2 adults, 3 kids). They even leave you tea towels/sponge/fairy liquid plus a welcome tea and coffee pack. The linen and towels were also fresh and spotless, exactly the same standard you would find at any premier travel inn. The pool was great, clean and good fun. Kids spent days Go-Karting, Roller Skating, and at the nearby Brean Park Leisure Park. Food on site at Queen Vic was surprisingly nice, it's not exquisite fine dining but the kids meals are £1.75 plus fruit and a drink and personally I thought they were great value. Both my husband and I are white collar workers and I think we are by no means 'chavvy'. However you pay for a cut price holiday then you can expect to see the benefits/unemplyed brigade with their kids who have pierced ears and an attitude. But unfortunatley that is representative of Britain today and morons infiltrate most places. The well behaved children and nice failies outnumbered the 'Jeremy Kyle' bunch. The bluecoat entertainment was fantastic they really put so much effort in, the ventriloquist Gareth Oliver was outstanding as was the Michael Jackson tribute. Overall, there were 3 extremely happy entertained kids and I would go back to Pontins tomorrow. It's not Disney Land, but if your looking at this review then you don't want to pay their prices. Have an open mind and give it a go.

Well I am sitting here writing this review when we should actually be on our HOLIDAY at Pontins, Brean Sands. We arrived early to look around the site and we were not impressed. The entrance to Pontins was really nice, but that was it, go past the entrance and the horror begins. The Amusement Arcade was filthy dirty, as were the toilets. We looked at the pool but didn't go in. The grounds looked uncared for. It was a mad panic and huge queues to get our chalet keys, people were swearing and fed up. We had a 2 bed Classic chalet so middle range accommodation. When we opened the door to our chalet, we were horrified. It had not been cleaned. The chalet smealt of mould and damp which we found on the windows, the mattresses needed replacing, the pillows were filthy, the carpets were discusting as were the walls, the bathroom was unhygenic with blood down the sink, the kitchen area was falling apart and there was no room to sit around the breakfast bar, the 2 seater bed setee was filthy and falling apart and to be honest the chalet was something you would have stayed in the 70's. A total re-vamp is needed. We asked our 2 children if they wanted to stay there and one said 'no' and our 4 year old said it was 'discusting'. So we complained and after a fight we got our money back. We heard other people complaining. We would never go back again, they would have to pay us to stay there. Would definately not recommend Pontins to anyone unless you are used to living in a very poor standard.

Just come back from Pontins Brean, after spending a week there 21st - 28th August 2010. After reading the reviews I tried to cancel but it was too late. I was dreading turning up to find some of the horrors I was reading about on here. But, I am happy to say, the chalet(budget)was spot on for budget accomodation, it was clean, tidy, carpet clean. No damp or bad decoration. The blue coats were great, the children loved them. The site, although could do with a lick of paint, was also very clean and tidy. The swimming pool was fine, no different from public swimming pools.
This has taught me a lesson not to believe all you read on the internet. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, so just don't expect the Ritz. I will be going again next year.

Our visit was ment to be a relaxing 4 night break before the kids go back to school, how wrong could we be.
Arrived for a 2pm checkin as per corispondance to be told paperwork incorrect and to come back in 2 hours for all that can be discribed as a mad checkin from the dark ages.
What can be said about the accomadation we booked the classic as we didnt want to chance the basic from experiance of other sites this can either be dated of in need of a refubishment.
We asked once seing the accomadation to confirm that we had been alocated the correct unit as it was in need of a full refurb at best with the following faults.
The bed settee was ready for the skip, the tv didnt work the water was scalding hot but had signs saying hot water, great hazard for the kids. Broken drinking glass in the cupboard and window openers that once you open fall out.

I wish I has listened to the other poor reviews and booked anywhere else, only stayed for 2 nights of the 4 and that was more than enough.
We have stayed at quite a few alternitive parks all over the country by other providers which make Pontins look very 3rd rate at best, AVOID

Well what can I say this place needs condemning. You get to your chalet and the heat heats you as you walk in there is no air. Why cant they leave the windows open after cleaning. Carpet disgusting and also sofabed. Bed was broken had to wait to next day to get it changed. If you can shower in 30 secs your laughing this is how long the shower works for then you have to turn the water back on. Avoid the Queen Vic to eat in the portions are terrible and cost a fortune. Use the Seagull opposite or The Place which is outside the gates these are both good value for money. Never use the chip shop on site they used frozen chips and the cheapest fish possible. The one outside the gates is fantastic. The entertainment is appaling the blue coats do nearly all the entertainment which is fine if you want to hear out of tune singers. And they repeat things twice a week like the Michael Jackson tribute which was awful and Scooby Doo. Gareth Oliver Fantastic and also the Circus Act. Same Difference and Eoghan Quig were awful can see why they are at Pontins. Brean is a lovely place but Pontins lets it down. We paid £545 for a week and they are saying nxt year will be £900 for a week I would not pay this years prices again let alone next years. Try Beachside holiday park instead beautiful there and cheaper.

Maybe if I had only paid £10 like many others, I may feel differantly, but we paid full wack for a dirty mouldy room that resulted in us all having a cough, poor entertainment, lack of information resulted in us missing any entertainment we would have liked to have seen, the staff were rude, the blue coats uninterested when the kids wanted to talk to them, we didnt go in the pool as on our way to it a distraught mother stopped us and told us not to take are children in there as it was disgusting.
We ended up spending more time off the site in the end as there was more to do in the local area.
On returning home I wrote a letter of complaint, I recieved a reply basically calling me a liar as they insisted their accomodation and staff were fine, and I was in some way overreacting! I wrote a reply but all I recieved in return was a letter thanking me for my letter and a coupon for £10 off our next visit!!!
Unless you are only spending a tenner to stay there dont waste your money, pay a bit extra and go to Butlins!

When arriving after a few hours and visiting the "entertainment" club the compare referred to the accommodation as sheds, that was true!
He should have carried on the joke and explained it as something that is seen in a CSI series, there was what seemed like blood splatter on the carpet, graffiti on the walls, window frame and wardrobes.
The lunar club is rightly named because trying to find your child under the light of the moon is what you would have to do, as children were not securely supervised and were leaving the exits without any concern to the bluecoats who were in charge.
Customer service is something that comes with age, the onlt way to describe the crocodile club assistant is "grot bags" interagating youngsters as young as seven with the year they was born, star sign waiting for a slip of the tongue.

lulubells photos of Pontins Brean Sands

im a single mum of 8 children, i took 7 of my children there last year we also went with my cousin his wife and 3 kids, we all thougherly enjoyed ourselves, the kids loved the freedom of being able to go off around the acarde etc by themselves(we did check up on them every 10 mins a motherly instinct and not cus we didnt trust the place) and us adults knew they were safe. we loved it so much we booked again this year and we are going in just over a week, there is so much there to do and i had no complaints about the chalet we stayed in. like i said all my kids enjoyed themselves but it was lovely to see my then 6 yr old who is autistic interact with the people there and loved the shows and didnt once run away if the people got a bit close it surprised us all how relaxed he was there and he is so looking forward to going back there, he loved it so much last year he cried for days n days wanting to go back that broke my heart but we are happy we are going back and i cant wait!! cuz seeing my kids faces happy there makes my holiday

we have just returned from a week at pontin's,my husband myself and four children ages 11,10,5 and 2 we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If my children are happy then we are happy.Really don't know what all the fuss is about and we have booked up to again next year.
i read the reviews before i went and was in tears at what i read, thought oh well lets give it a go there was nothing to complain about at all.
Rooms may be basic but are very clean and equipped well, beds are comfortable and linen clean no mould on walls bathroom really clean.
all i can say is dont look at the reviews just go and enjoy yourselves a holiday is what you make it!
The meals in the Queen Victoria are very reasonable kids can eat for £1.75 there is a choice of 5 meals and they get a drink and a piece of fruit. They also do a slightly bigger kids meal at £3.99 also with a drink and a piece of fruit.Nice varied adults meals some are 2 for £10.00 not over priced at all good quality
One happy family x
If people want 5* then they need to pay 5* prices

Just got back from Pointins, Brean - accommodation very old and needs updating - kettle/tv didn't work had to get replacements, patio door didn't lock (still didn't lock from inside once security had fixed it!), restaurant very average, Fun Factory and Lunars ok, staff overall not that friendly. Cafe and bakery across the road excellent and great meals at Hungry Horse pub closeby. Pointins pounds not what they seem!! Expect what you pay for - not that much.

Stayed in one of the 3 bed "apartments". It stank of curry, the carpets and sofabed were filthy, the kettle had mould in it. I've never had such a bad nights sleep, it was like sleeping on a box of springs. To cap it all there was bloody snot wiped across one of the walls. Bearing in mind this place can sleep upto eight the only thing to sit on was the two seat sofabed and some cheap plastic chairs we found left outside in the rain.
Had a meal in the restaurant which if it wasn't for the salt the food would have been a level below bland and I'm sure gammon shouldn't be grey.
We were supposed to be there for four nights, but only managed one.
The only good thing about our stay was that we got our money back without a fuss.

Just got back from Brean Sands Pontins.. Very good for Family entertainment in the evening, couldn't see alot going on around in the day it needs a bit of a face lift, wasn't very impressed with the chalet, as we had to double bedrooms but neither room could fit in a cot bed!.. Food was nice but resturant looked quite grubby.. Bar staff VERY miserable! we asked three members of staff what the entertainment was for the night and none of them knew! Blue coats were good with the children and were entertaining with there shows at night.. would i go again ... 50/50
