Myself and my two children and partner and my partners parents have just come back from being at pontins in brean sands and was very happy with everything. The entertainment for the children was brilliant. The entertainment was also brilliant for the adults. Very polite staff at pontins brean sands and they interacted with the children really well. We were all very satisfied with the holiday and look forward to going to another one next yr.

when i arrived here i wanted to turn the car around and go back home if it wasnt for the 3 hour trip there and the kids i would have, we got our keys straight a way as we had upgraded to club and we bypassed the massive qeue, our apartment was tiny and very undated and the bathroom was dirty and mouldy and shower curtain, you could hardly see out of the windows if this was the best they can offer i dread to think what budget or classic is like i know we only paid £9.50 each but weve done over sun hoildays and they have been lovely.

on our first day there my son had an accident and cut his head the staff was good and got a first aider straight away.

the staff didnt seam to know what times the attractions opens or why some of them were shut!

we went out of pontins during the day and visted lots of places and just used this place as a base.i dont think were be staying at a pontins again in less they give this place a refurb

we have just come back from our stay at pontins, we were very worried about going to stay there as the reviews were really bad, when we arrived the chalet was very clean and tidy , it was not as small as the reviews had said (there was 7 in our party) the staff were very pleasant, the location is great, this was our first visit to pontin and we have been going to brean for the past 32 years and we ALL enjoyed ourselves, would we visit it again YES we would.

After reading some of the reviews I was dreading the long weekend away with my wife and 2 kids. However, I was pleasently suprised with the overall experience.

We paid £73 for a long weekend in a basic chalet. We arrived early and went to reception where the staff were very helpful and polite and said we couldnt book in till 2pm but could enjoy the on-site facilities till then!

I queued up for about 5mins to get our keys- a lot less time than some people have been saying on here.

Our chalet was close to all amenities and was clean and tidy. Yes it is basic but what do you expect for the price??? I would recommend taking blow up beds though as the sofa beds are very worn and uncomfortable, but the beds in the bedroom were fine.

The entertainment programme was very good both daytime and evening and the bluecoats were excellent with the kids as were the Pontins characters (Cptain Croc, Florence, etc)

There are loads of outdoor activities and the H20 Zone (swimming pool) is great for kids. Clean and fairly well kept considering the amount of people there. Disappointed with the price of bike hire though and both 4 people bikes were broken.

No its not 5 star but you get what you pay for.

Will go again if given the opportunity!

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Brean Sands Pontins site. Mixed feelings about it!

Entertainment in the evenings was great - really family focused!! Blue Coats are a giggle!

Accommodation was appalling! So small especially for 4 adults and 2 toddlers!!!!!!!! - pictures on website don't give you a guide at all! Paper thin walls! Very Cold - only electric air heaters which you couldn't leave on while you were out! Kitchen too small to actually cook in properly. paper thin curtains - which meant very very early wake ups for everyone!!!!! Felt like you wanted to clean the place before you unpacked! No room to unpack in the bedrooms! Very small cupboard to hang stuff up and 1 tiny drawer!

Restaurant ok - reasonable but would get very expensive to eat there all week. Take away fast food place too slow - ended up asking for my money back after awaiting over 20 minutes and then the 2 customers served after me got their order - was then offered mine which was wrong and was told would have to wait again!!!

Slightly strange opening hours for some of the take aways and other facilities! Chip shop closed on the last night!!?

Was really shocked by the standard of accommodation! like cattle sheds! really disappointed. We did go standard / budget / bargain holiday - but there is a level that you do expect from a Pontins. I would have been so disappointed to have arrived to the site in the Summer Holidays and to have paid full price and to have got what we had!!! Personally I won't be using Pontins again - a real shame but the accommodation let the whole week down as we then spent the whole week away from the place!

Excellant.

Had budget accommodation which was more than enough for 4 adults.

Very clean, beds were ok.

We had a great time and would definately go again.

We waited 10 minutes to collect our keys so no complaints there.

The staff were friendly and helpful as were security on the gates.

The shop on site was reasonable.

We did eat out The Seagull was fantastic value for money and entertainment value.

The weather could of been kinder to us but Hey this is England!

We had a really nice break and would definately go back to Brean again and will go to other sites in the future.

Thumbs up!!

What do people want???? We booked a sun deal at £9.50 each for 6. We took 4 kids aged from 16-12yrs and quite honestly, when I read the reviews on this website b4 we went I was fully prepared to turn round as soon as we got there. I even told the kids we may not be staying as apparently it was dreadful!!

Yes, the queing to get your keys is a pain, but I guess that's part of being british and thats what we do, moan quietly but never to the right people...

We didn't upgrade, had a budget 3 bedroomed Chalet.

Once we got our key off we went, me still trailing behind, dreading what we'd find. HOWEVER the chalet was small, but it was spotlessly clean and all bed linen was freshly laundered and clean. There was a full size oven with grill, etc, fridge, kettle, cutlery and enough crockery for us all, all very clean... The bathroom had 1/2 bath and shower again all clean. Yes, the chairs were plastic, but they were only used to sit on for a short while. The beds were really comfy, and a good night sleep to me is worth its weight in gold. We had younger families around us but I can honestly say from about 9pm in the evening we never heard a sole. All the stay, we never heard our "neighbours" and we were right next to the Brean Leisure Park, but the music did not start from there until 10.00amish,again not a problem.

We did not use the club house in the evenings as we prefer to spend the time as a family, having a quiet drink, playing different games etc, so were in our chalet every evening and all managed to move around, sit etc.

We did a six people pedal bike (like off chucklevision) for 1/2 hour round the park and had a real laugh. That was £4.50 (U tell me where else you can spend that for 6 people and have such a giggle). The Go Karts were really good value and lasted a long time. The kids went off around the park on their own. One of our children is autistic, (so good to know secuirty officers on the gate were very thorough to make sure you had pass to leave and come back to resort) so he enjoyed the independance and I had no reason to worry.

We made use of the swimming pool which was fine, plenty of people using it and plenty of lifeguards.

Brean itself, the beach is gorgeous and the downs.

All I can say is, I have been a travel agent for 15years and know what bad experiences are, but you make your holiday what it is, spending time to relax away from everyday stuff, its nice to not have dvd, playstations etc so you can all make your own fun and as long as you are in a clean, safe environment, with your loved ones, what more can you ask?

I have holidayed with other british operators and can hand on heart say Pontins are better than other competitors, and would use them again.

I like to think I can make the best of a bad situation... and normally I am quite positive..

Before we went we contacted Pontins to upgrade our room, they have Budget, Classic and Club, thinking the room would be as they say on their website a little bit extra special we paid the extra £108 for a club chalet for two full days and 2 half.

When we arrived in our room we found it to be dirty, we found hair in the bathroom not only in the bath but on the walls left from the previous visitor. There were cobwebs mould all around the bath and ceiling. flaking paint, the wallpaper was coming off the walls. broken bunk beds for the kids. if this was luxury I dread to think what the budget was like. we should have received a free newspaper, that never arrived.. I would have thought some toilet tissue may have been included too.. perhaps I am hoping for too much. we went to the shop and bought some bleach to clean it ourselves.

We had a look in the budget and it looked exactly the same all that seemed to be missing was the extra bedroom and you had to pay for your electricity, somehow I dont think that added up to the extra money we spent.

On a good note the entertainment staff do their best, the shows were good fun.

Note if you have teenage children there is not a lot to do. The H20 zone pool was dirty and run down, I went in for a matter of minutes and got out, our local council pool is newer and better equipped. and any of the activities that pontins put on are at a cost, I think we it was £ 5 per session. the bikes were £ 4.50 to hire for 1/2 an hour.

Bottom line the sun holidays are not 39.50 even for budget, it is an extra 30.00 for bed linen and charges. and you can get near enough the same price if you booked direct.. if you have paid 69.50 for a family of four then really you cannot moan its a break away. I am miffed at the upgrade for a room that was seriously in need of modernisation and a good clean.

We should have been there for four days and left after 1 1/2. we decided to go home and go to Alton Towers instead. I will be going to Butlins or Center Parcs in future. Pontins needs an overhaul in my opinion.

Well, where do I start! We upgraded to club thinking we would have a little bit of luxury (not expecting anything 5star) but oh my god I have never been in such a hole in my whole life!! It was like stepping back in time. The accomadation was probably club in 1970, it was rough. The chairs made me feel ill they were like something out of school. Could not get comfy on the sofa in lounge if it was a sofa!! the springs in the bed had gone. The bathroom was disgusting just altogether needed a good refurb and the camp in general. Very dangerous in living area, one plug socket to swap kettle, toaster and microwave that kids could easily touch.

The camp itself was very disorganised. Nobody( the staff ) knew opening times of anything. Queued to get into pool at 09:00 one day and someone walked past and said 'It doesnt open til 10' Staff then walked past at 09:05 to open the doors and said yeah it opens at 0900!!!!

Nowhere had any opening or closing times advertised it was guesswork the staff just opened and closed as they felt like it. All posters still said 2007!! I was honestly expecting to see Peggy from Hi-De Hi it was so out dated but I think it was too grim for her!!! My opinion never do Pontins at Brean sands what an absolute hole!!!!

Have just returned from Pontin Brean Sands, went on a sun holiday and paid 68 pounds for accommodation this is all it is worth (do not pay full price as you are being ripped of)

Bedsettee is not fit to sleep on (my advice is to put matterees on floor) accommodation is very very basic if you are a camper or caravan like myself you will probably be ok this is certainly more 1 star than 4 stars. We were in a budget accommocation but having cycled around Pontins and looked at other accommocation the Club doesnt seem any better. (Due to hygiene not being very good would not take a small babie). On a more positive not staff on gate very friendly and the PGL activitie are very very good value for money. The club and entertainment is ok and Pontins site is also acceptable. Brean it self makes a good base as long as you dont mind arcade, there are plenty of cheep and nice places to eat.

So if you have booked a sun holiday go and rough it you will probably have a nice time. If you have paid full price try and get your money back and stay at one of the other sites . Have a nice holiday

We have just returned from the Easter football tournament run by SCI with the accommodation at Pontins.Despite the poor weather, the football tournament was fantastic.Superbly organised it not only gave the children the opportunity to pit their skills against teams from all over the country but also to make friends with these children. The presentation evening with trophies being given out by Matt Le Tissier was a fitting finale to the football side of the weekend. My partner, her youngest son and I shared a "club" category chalet. If we had been there on one of the Sun £9.50 bargain holidays,I may have formed a different opinion. We paid well over the odds. The accommodation was horrific! We wouldn't mind basic, but basic and dirty with no attention to detail on chalet preparation prior to checking in is inexcusable.I actually cleaned all of the windows on the first day of our visit in order to improve our stay. The policy of one key per chalet party was unfathomable but I didn't mind being asked to pay a returnable £5.00 deposit for an extra key but having to hear the phrase "do you know how much it costs to cut a key" from the member of staff at reception as she was justifying this charge was the height of bad manners but also epitomised the staff's overall attitude to customer services! The above rating of 1 was given as there was no lower option!I didn't realise that this type of holiday camp still existed.Long term it warrants a massive injection of cash.Short term basic staff training in attention to detail and customer care would go a long way.Unfortunately while people such as myself,my partner and the rest of the people in attendance for such a great weekend of football are paying for the "pleasure" of staying in this Pontins camp,I cannot ever see them taking any of these negative comments seriously.

We have just returned from here and it was filthy. We went with a large group of people on a football tour, the day before we were due to go we were down graded from a club to what was supposed to be a clasic, but it would say it was basic and believe me it doesnt come any more basic. it was dirty, smelly and I would not return if they paid me. I am glad we were only there for a long weekend as if I had to stay there any longer I think I would of gone mad.

Every June I visit Brean Sands for the England Darts Open. The accommodation is very basic but it is clean and for the price you pay is more than adequate.

The staff are very helpful. The breakfasts served in the Queen Vic are fantastic and the BBQ food is lovely. The fish and chips are nice from the shop on site.

The beach is lovely and the restaurant across the road serves a mean carvery on Sundays :-) The Seagull pub provides a lovely meal but the wine is a bit expensive. It is a pleasure to stay here and will be returning again in 2008.

I had been going to Pontins Hemsby in a classic for years so we tried a new site. Breamsands.....we arrived after being told we could have our chalet earlier 2pm. Oh there must be a mistake.....we got our chalet the kettle was at the same level as a toddler.....the cooker was on a tilt along with the fridge...but hey that didn't matter because the electric meter was not functioning anyway. The arcade was dirty and the same peice of paper stay in its home all holiday. I tolerated the nightmare for my kids as they could see through all these little mishaps and enjoyed the fun and the over excited stage manager...who really neede his own show everynight. I complained when I arrive home and we were invited back to Pontins in a club...we chose Hembsby again. We have gone there ever since well done to them and there staff who are polite and able to deal with customers queries. The bar staff are also aware that everybody would like to be served and the site is generally clean. It is a shame that these holiday camps are allowing their accomidation to slip because overall its a great holiday for the kids and as a parent you get a few minutes to yourself.
