Just come back from Pontins Brean, after spending a week there 21st - 28th August 2010. After reading the reviews I tried to cancel but it was too late. I was dreading turning up to find some of the horrors I was reading about on here. But, I am happy to say, the chalet(budget)was spot on for budget accomodation, it was clean, tidy, carpet clean. No damp or bad decoration. The blue coats were great, the children loved them. The site, although could do with a lick of paint, was also very clean and tidy. The swimming pool was fine, no different from public swimming pools.
This has taught me a lesson not to believe all you read on the internet. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, so just don't expect the Ritz. I will be going again next year.

Our visit was ment to be a relaxing 4 night break before the kids go back to school, how wrong could we be.
Arrived for a 2pm checkin as per corispondance to be told paperwork incorrect and to come back in 2 hours for all that can be discribed as a mad checkin from the dark ages.
What can be said about the accomadation we booked the classic as we didnt want to chance the basic from experiance of other sites this can either be dated of in need of a refubishment.
We asked once seing the accomadation to confirm that we had been alocated the correct unit as it was in need of a full refurb at best with the following faults.
The bed settee was ready for the skip, the tv didnt work the water was scalding hot but had signs saying hot water, great hazard for the kids. Broken drinking glass in the cupboard and window openers that once you open fall out.
I wish I has listened to the other poor reviews and booked anywhere else, only stayed for 2 nights of the 4 and that was more than enough.
We have stayed at quite a few alternitive parks all over the country by other providers which make Pontins look very 3rd rate at best, AVOID

20st-23st. Before going to Pontins, I was nervous because of the bad reviews, as anyone would be!!! When we got to our apartment it wasn't all bad, me and my brother shared a room and my mum and dad had the sofa bed in the living room, the beds were very uncomfortable and the sofa bed was very uncomfortable to sleep in! On the second day of being there, there was torrential rain and alot of thunder and lightning, to the result where we had a leak from the roof in the kitchen and the whole of the block had a powercut that lasted about 2 hours, my dad spoke to someone at reception to come and look at the leak in our apartment, but no-one bothered to come! You basically get what you pay for.. if you're expecting to stay in a top class apartment then this is certainly not the place for you! We even stayed in the top apartment "Club" and it wasn't even that nice! The entertainment wasn't very good, in every room it was stuffy and full of sweaty people, my brother is 11 and i'm 17, my brother got bored and didn't want to stay at the entertainment for very long! I recommened pay a couple of hundred more and go to Butlins :)

Pontins brean sands is the best out of the pontins holiday parks i have been to, it has a massive arcade and the food is delicious and the entertainment is great all the bluecoats are welcoming and are brilliant with the kids.
there is even a pub called the queen vicroria which is also a cafe. There are lots of fun for the whole family.

Place dirty, why they cant clean all areas is a mystery (maybe SCOOBY DO could find out). Im so glad I paid full wack for my grandson to play whats the time Mr wolf. They were giving away holidays and I was praying he didnt win. We spent an absolute fortune coz they were charging ridiculous amounts for their items. Couldnt have food 1 day due to gas leak, fast food was slower than an asthmatic snail, they forgot to cook the sausages for the hotdogs 1 night then machine broke couldnt cook the onions, no toilet paper in the toilets and that was from the beginning of 1 night and nobody came to put any in. We asked them to move us when we got there as I have problems walking and they said they,d get back to us, but they didnt. We had bad weather on the last night (not Pontins fault there) but challet was flooding. Although my grandson enjoyed there was nothing that could cater for the whole family together. Um I think that is what the entertainment manager is supposed to do. would rather go to Belson concentration camp for more atmosphere.

Well what can I say this place needs condemning. You get to your chalet and the heat heats you as you walk in there is no air. Why cant they leave the windows open after cleaning. Carpet disgusting and also sofabed. Bed was broken had to wait to next day to get it changed. If you can shower in 30 secs your laughing this is how long the shower works for then you have to turn the water back on. Avoid the Queen Vic to eat in the portions are terrible and cost a fortune. Use the Seagull opposite or The Place which is outside the gates these are both good value for money. Never use the chip shop on site they used frozen chips and the cheapest fish possible. The one outside the gates is fantastic. The entertainment is appaling the blue coats do nearly all the entertainment which is fine if you want to hear out of tune singers. And they repeat things twice a week like the Michael Jackson tribute which was awful and Scooby Doo. Gareth Oliver Fantastic and also the Circus Act. Same Difference and Eoghan Quig were awful can see why they are at Pontins. Brean is a lovely place but Pontins lets it down. We paid £545 for a week and they are saying nxt year will be £900 for a week I would not pay this years prices again let alone next years. Try Beachside holiday park instead beautiful there and cheaper.

Maybe if I had only paid £10 like many others, I may feel differantly, but we paid full wack for a dirty mouldy room that resulted in us all having a cough, poor entertainment, lack of information resulted in us missing any entertainment we would have liked to have seen, the staff were rude, the blue coats uninterested when the kids wanted to talk to them, we didnt go in the pool as on our way to it a distraught mother stopped us and told us not to take are children in there as it was disgusting.
We ended up spending more time off the site in the end as there was more to do in the local area.
On returning home I wrote a letter of complaint, I recieved a reply basically calling me a liar as they insisted their accomodation and staff were fine, and I was in some way overreacting! I wrote a reply but all I recieved in return was a letter thanking me for my letter and a coupon for £10 off our next visit!!!
Unless you are only spending a tenner to stay there dont waste your money, pay a bit extra and go to Butlins!

When arriving after a few hours and visiting the "entertainment" club the compare referred to the accommodation as sheds, that was true!
He should have carried on the joke and explained it as something that is seen in a CSI series, there was what seemed like blood splatter on the carpet, graffiti on the walls, window frame and wardrobes.
The lunar club is rightly named because trying to find your child under the light of the moon is what you would have to do, as children were not securely supervised and were leaving the exits without any concern to the bluecoats who were in charge.
Customer service is something that comes with age, the onlt way to describe the crocodile club assistant is "grot bags" interagating youngsters as young as seven with the year they was born, star sign waiting for a slip of the tongue.

im a single mum of 8 children, i took 7 of my children there last year we also went with my cousin his wife and 3 kids, we all thougherly enjoyed ourselves, the kids loved the freedom of being able to go off around the acarde etc by themselves(we did check up on them every 10 mins a motherly instinct and not cus we didnt trust the place) and us adults knew they were safe. we loved it so much we booked again this year and we are going in just over a week, there is so much there to do and i had no complaints about the chalet we stayed in. like i said all my kids enjoyed themselves but it was lovely to see my then 6 yr old who is autistic interact with the people there and loved the shows and didnt once run away if the people got a bit close it surprised us all how relaxed he was there and he is so looking forward to going back there, he loved it so much last year he cried for days n days wanting to go back that broke my heart but we are happy we are going back and i cant wait!! cuz seeing my kids faces happy there makes my holiday

Well I am sitting here writing this review when we should actually be on our HOLIDAY at Pontins, Brean Sands. We arrived early to look around the site and we were not impressed. The entrance to Pontins was really nice, but that was it, go past the entrance and the horror begins. The Amusement Arcade was filthy dirty, as were the toilets. We looked at the pool but didn't go in. The grounds looked uncared for. It was a mad panic and huge queues to get our chalet keys, people were swearing and fed up. We had a 2 bed Classic chalet so middle range accommodation. When we opened the door to our chalet, we were horrified. It had not been cleaned. The chalet smealt of mould and damp which we found on the windows, the mattresses needed replacing, the pillows were filthy, the carpets were discusting as were the walls, the bathroom was unhygenic with blood down the sink, the kitchen area was falling apart and there was no room to sit around the breakfast bar, the 2 seater bed setee was filthy and falling apart and to be honest the chalet was something you would have stayed in the 70's. A total re-vamp is needed. We asked our 2 children if they wanted to stay there and one said 'no' and our 4 year old said it was 'discusting'. So we complained and after a fight we got our money back. We heard other people complaining. We would never go back again, they would have to pay us to stay there. Would definately not recommend Pontins to anyone unless you are used to living in a very poor standard.
