me and my husband and 2 daughters,3 and 8 months have just returned from a 4 night sun holidays break here, after reading the reports we really wasnt looking foward to goin, but we was pleasantly suprised.yes the rooms are very basic, but spacious and good enough to stay in for the week.the girls bedroom was nice and roomy and the bathroom a good size.all our bedlinen was very clean too,as it was only budget we was very happy with the location to all amenities too.
my 3 year loved it,infact didnt want to come home!,lots to do day and night, the bluecoats do an excellant job and the adult entertainment was great too.prices were quite reasonable too.dont really recommend the site chip shop though wasnt too clever but the sfc hut inside fun factory is really nice.overall we had a great few days stay and for what we paid was very pleased.

I went with my family:two younger brothers and my parents to this absolute dump.We went to hang our clothes up and there was spiders in the wardrobes. We couldn't see through our windows-it was that dirty. There were food stains all over the seats and the floor. There were vomit stains all over the pillows and the beds.Fungi was growing in all sorts of places. The staff were really grumpy and also had to stay in these types of Chalets. The camp was also a dump.I'm never staying here again.

We booked the Club Accommodation as it was supposed to be the best they had. When we opened the door we honestly thought there must be a mistake but no, seemingly this was the best they had. We were & still are in absolute shock. It was filthy & the photo gallery on their web site is hillarious! The rooms are nothing like what they show. They are tiny & there is no seating area apart from the sofa bed which was disgusting. The kitchen chairs were rusty as was the microwave. The crockery was filthy & the duvet on one bed had a large blood stain on it. The smell of damp was awful & the shower curtain was covered in mould. We could not let my little grand daughter touch anything and within minutes we decided to leave. I cant believe we had paid almost £200 to stay in that squalor. We demanded a refund & paid another £100 at 'Haven' in Burhnam on Sea for a lovely clean modern 3 bedroom holiday home & had a great time there. Pontins have a policy about not allowing pets to stay, believe me they would not want to.

Got back yesterday from brean sands on a sun holiday, we were in 2 minds weather to cancel all together after reading all the reviews but thought we would give it a try and so glad we did. The room was small and basic but very clean and tidy and everything worked perfect. The bathroom was spotles and very livable much easier then a carvan. The sofa bed is a little uncomftable but arnt most sofa beds! I have 2 small children aged 7 months and 2 years and thought the childrens entertainment was brilliant both in the day and evenings, the blue coats put so much effort into catering for all ages. The camp its slef could do with a little upgrade but is clean and tidy no rubbish anywhere. The childrens play areas again are clean and very safe my little boy loved playing on them. There is plenty to do during the day both on and off the site.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We didnt eat on the site as we cooked everynight in our room so cannot comment there. We thought that the prices around the camp were very reasonable both in the shops and at the bar for drinks i was plesently suprised.
We had a brilliant holiday and i really cant understand where all the bad reviews are coming form please dont be put off by them and go with an open mind.

I was so upset & worried the few weeks before going on our holiday after reading the really bad reviews on here & I even emailed Pontins with my concerns but I have to say we have just returned from a fab week here!!!
Yes Pontins is very run down but our room was clean and we ended up getting bed linen & a microwave etc which we werent meant to have so that was a bonus.
I do have a few moans....
Check in is just crazy - its done in the big hall where there is kids games going on just before so you have a hall rammed full of people then they put chairs on stage with letters of alphabet on and you have to queue to get your key - unless you hover right near the front you will be in for a very long wait to get keys!!
My other moan is the Lunar bar where bingo is held the drinks were expensive & warm cause the fridges werent working & the barman looked at me like I was mental when I told him I wasnt drinking it!!!
Oh and the sofa bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on so I just got in the single bed with my son.
Good things about here though - wine is only £7.50 a bottle in the bar where the kids entertainment was held(& £3.50 a glass so buy a bottle in the evening club if you go there)
The beach is lovely and only 5 mins away! There is a nice chippy called Peters over the road. Never ate in Pontins so cant comment on the food there. We went to the theme park which is cheaper on Thurs & Fri & we used Clubcard vouchers for this & my boys loved it there. Dont bother paying to go to the pool in the theme park unless the new one has opened as it was bloody freezing & although it had a water slide wasnt worth paying to get in. Pontins pool is ok, free & a lot warmer!!!
Another tip is take your own wine glasses & mugs for your room as you dont get them and you only have 4 of each cutlery/plates etc too (in case you need more)
The bluecoats work amazingly hard & really do make it fun for the kids and we all had a really great time here. All in all though £38 for 4 nights was a bargain & lets face it how much time do you really spend in the chalet anyway.

Every bit as bad as the reviews say. If we were animals the RSPCA would shut the place down and rescue everyone.
The accomodation was dreadful. Filthy, smelly and old. The camp is in a really bad way and needs a lot of work to get it anthing like acceptable. The pool dirty, the facities rubbish. As we went on a Sun £9.50 decided to go full board. No vegitarian option (despite being promised one). I suspect the food is cooked elsewhere and shipped in and heated up again. The result is overcooked, heated up tasteless mush. The Staff were the only rediming feature - its as though they were trying to maek up for it all being so grotty.
Just never think of going there.

I cannot describe the appauling standard of accomodation and hygene at this camp.
We did a Sun £9.50 break. We had done a number before and they were good. We decided to try Pontins for a change.
Booking in was quick but as we arrived we realised how things you read are not quite true. The whole place looked very shoddy and hastily given a lick of paint to make it look good in some efort to disguise the fact the whole complex should have been demolished years ago.
Our first chalet stank and had clearly not been cleaned. There were still soiled, disposable nappies in the bin. The carpet was covered in food scraps. We complained to the customer services manager who was having a bad time dealing with all the complaints. Our second chalet was cleaner but still a mess. Bathroom just wiped over, floor dirty. The beds are a disgrace. The pool a farce. We decided to give up and went home 2nd day as we grew fed up of moaning and nothing hapening.
I could go on but will not.; In short just never, ever eber think of going there. The direct staff were great. The others (cafe etc) are just hostile.

It really is in need of up dating.
The apartment are very small and it a pain to have to set up the sofa bed every night.
The apartment should be cleaned better, I spent 20 mins with antibac spray cleaning as we have a 5 month old baby. The sofa beds is dirty and the matress was old but it would be easy for pontins to replace all of them.
Pontins do need to improve the cleaning of the apartment and the sofa bed but other than that we had a good bathroom with loads of hot water.
The rooms have been smoked in so do smell and no signs are in place to say no smoking.
We found the entertainment to be ok and the prices of drinks not too bad.
We did not eat on site so can not say about food. The weekend cost £40. ( Star tokens) for the money I would not be complaining.
The location is very good for days out

I totally agree with the comments posted about this place. It was the most disgusting place that i have ever been to in my whole life, it will be the first and last time i ever use a pontins site.
To start with we went into the bathroom to find it had no shower and human excrement in the bath. There was vomit on the bedroom floor which had dried into the carpet. There was knife marks that had been cut into the door with what looked like tomato sauce but could have been blood on the walls. The whole chalet was filthy, i.e. carpets, beds, bed settee, windows. The skirting boards were rotting and most probably harbouring many different types of bacteria. There was rubblish all over the site as well as in the chalet when we arrived.
This just the beginning.......
For this place to be considered a family orientated place is a complete and utter joke.
As we do not have children we felt lucky because there was a large number of dangers apparent. Such as large numbers of drunken idots banging on our door and windows all night. Its no wonder the televisions do not work on this site as a group of drunken people were throwing and smashing one up outside our chalet and thinking it was a right laugh. As an SIA (security)licence holder my self i cannot believe that the secuirty staff allowed these acts to happen without taking action. This went on from early evening all the way through to 5am in the morning. Hence we left early being the next day as it was too far to travel that night. It was highly ironic that nobody but the security staff was around in order for us to hand in our keys and make a complaint. I agree with the other persons comment about these places being shown and documented on a bbc watchdog programme, it should be shut down.
- Advice: i wouldnt advice this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

Some points from our visit :
First up, the worst and most worrying.
Used CONDOMS on the grass and pavements. I wasn't looking for them in dark corners or dodgy places. 1 was on the grass in front of the rooms. Another 2 on the pavement near car park.
I informed a bluecoat and another member of staff, they were still there after 3 days.
The grass is covered in fag ends, I guess we should have been thankful that people were smoking outside rather than inside....
Things to do: There is nothing to do! The pool wasn't bad but it was filled with VERY strong chlorine concentration, possibly a good thing.
Bank holiday weekend, half term. There should be loads of things for families to do... nothing.
Lots of groups of men though.
Oh, on a rainy day the Adventure play area was closed. No indoor play area open.
Room: on entering the room we knew we had to go to the shop and get some cleaning products, everything needed wiping over and the toilet was not clean.
The twin room window was not safe and was not closing properly, this meant a cold draught over one of the beds.
Sofa: this was disgustingly dirty, to think we had to sleep on this was worrying.
Sofa bed: wow, my legs feel bruised from the bed. Horrible experience.
Food and drink: the bar was expensive, service was slow.
The SFC chicken bar: Oh my god! Excruitiatingly slow service. NO childrens drinks, NO lids of any size for other drinks.
Chicken pieces and nuggets - dry, over cooked and starting to go black.
The free 'toy' in the childrens meal was a football World Cup key ring.... FROM 2006!
Evenings in the show bar, games for children with the bluecoats. This wasn't too bad but seemed like the only time they wanted to interact with the children.
Games were played, children were worked up into a fun mood, going well.
Then its time for bingo and the kids are told to go back to their tables with the adults. No more running around..... how does that work? Get the kids excited then tell them to go and sit down. Well done.
Security: one of the near by rooms had a window smashed at 1am. Ok, things happen it's alright.
Security decided to noisly, and slowly, smash the rest of the window in taking around an hour to do it. Not good when you have young children and babies trying to sleep (which is hard enough as it is on these beds).
The prison cells, sorry I mean the rooms, were shocking.
Never, ever will I recommend Pontins to anyone.
There are many many other things that we did not like or were unhappy with, the above are the main ones that stand out.
